- Lester M. Gilis, aka "Baby Face Nelson," began his crime career at an early age in a street gang in the Chicago slums. He was given the nickname "Baby Face" by his gang members because he looked much younger than he actually was.
Infamous villans the likes of Machine gun Kelly , Pretty bow Floyd, and Baby face Nelson show how hard , mean and desperate you have to be to earn the title of Public enemy.

My grandfather lived in Reno Nevada and had actually played poker with Baby Face. Baby Face won the most money and my grandfather said later that he didn't know that one of the men he played cards with was Baby Face, grandpa told a reporter years later that the money he lost was the best money he ever spent. If Baby Face would have lost in that game I might not have been born, but I'm here and will be 80 in October.
Great anecdote, and happy early birthday🎉
It said the pen is mightier than the sword but give me the sword any time.
I met a man who's aunt's neighbor brother knew Baby Face's third cousin. Lenny, the third cousin, never actually met Baby Face.
That- along with 3.00 will get you a coffee at QT!
If you stop and work it out like that you`ll probably find that half the world has a connection with Nelson. 🤣
The actor who plays baby 👶 face....😅😂 seriously?? Hilarious 😂
Imagine being a killer and a bank robber, expecting a cool nickname. An they call you “Babyface.”
It'd make you so mad that you'd shoot a herd of cows!
I kinda like d nickname.sounds cool to me, like an oxymoron, a play on words.
Like calling a giant 'shawty'.
@@kirbyculp3449 not the livestock!
I was both and they called me baby cock just got out after 53 years
The actors that they get in this series are excellent. Must be from the theatre. Real thespians.
I’m loving these videos
They make them feel almost real and that the criminals are talking to you
The F.B.I. was talking directly to us. Didn't you hear it? I certainly smelled it.
It's because they're breaking the 4th wall. Looking directly at the camera.
I like how this series has these actors, playing the bad guy.
Bad guys huh? I wonder who played J. Edgar Hoover?
I grew up near Barrington IL. I’m back in the area and am shocked that I live near his last battle. The video is absolutely so well done
I was at Good Shepherd this morning.
Interesting/informative/entertaining. Excellent still -motion photography pictures 📷/reenactments/cartoon drawings. Enabling viewers to better understand what the orator is describing. Special thanks to guest speakers sharing personal information pertaining to Uncle Lester's criminal activities. I would say that he was a disillusioned trigger happy ☺ maniac 😵. It's said that his beloved wife 60 years after he died😇. She was laid besides him in St. John's cemetery in Chicago. She must have thought the world 🌎 of Uncle Lester. After all those years to be laid to rest besides him. Every # 1 most wanted gangster needs a loyal/faithful companion like Helen. 😉
The FBI still use the same underhand tactics they did back then, namely picking on innocent family members to get to the people they're after, I'd be interested to know how many family members they have imprisoned for no other reason than being a relative.
Dillinger was an adult, while Lester Gillis (Nelson) was a child w/ a dangerous toy.
Agree. He acted like a little boy w something to prove. Reckless.
So true. Nelson was a little boy trying to prove himself.
@@mrsx7944 And 90 years after his death, he still holds the record for killing more FBI agents than anyone in US history.
dude was nuts but i get his thinking, when you're cornered you go on offense. nelson was like, "if i'm going down, i'm taking as many of them as i can, with me."
I love the fact that even the custom full auto 1911 was in the animation.
Didn’t expect that either was impressive
If I grew up during this time I would have been a bank robber, moonshiner, or moonshine runner. It was open for the taking.
You would have lived a short life
Most likely you would be dead. It's no place for light weights
Me too
Me too, only time to have real freedom to make money unlawfully
Me too but only the best banks and kkk members would be the only one I'll Robb.
These are so well done. Really enjoy the whole series so far
I was born and raised in Sioux Falls, SD and had no idea that robbery happened. Thanks for posting; good stuff.
How is that possible?? I'm from PA and I read about that in high school. It's famous.
@@meghanmisaliar High School for me spanned 1977 to '81: trust me, the movie "Dazed and confused" didn't miss the mark. I was more concerned with where that weekend's kegger party was happening than what Mr. Lewis had to say about history. So, yeah, I was a slacker I guess is what I'm rambling on about. You have a good and a better tomorrow.

But today he practically forgotten

Entertaining production, thanks to all.
Man this is the best video on CZcams with this content I've watched yet... Give me more. 😂
The actor who portrait baby face doesnt knoe how to hold the gun😂😂
😂 And you don't know how to spell 😂
Portrayed*
Guy playing baby face is a good actor.
Most underrated channel an program going... Love it ❤
I just subscribed. I want to watch all your documentaries! Greetings from Querétaro, México.
The guy portraying baby face Nelson in this video is the actor that played BOB on the TV show Becker 😂good actor
Seriously??? I used to watch that. I didn't recognize him lol
Thank you for another great episode
The best account of the gun battle I've ever encountered was printed in THE AMERICAN RIFLEMAN.
These stories are good. They may be bad guys, but the actors that play them are even worse.
I enjoyed this video.
Yeah I remember learning about this watching a bugs Bunny cartoon 🐣
I just love these actors in this series lol. They're very good. The script is a little over the top but the acting is excellent.
I also love the commentary by the historians and family members.
My feeling exactly. The acting is excellent.
From 34-36, look up how many criminals were killed in 'shootouts' with the FBI. That's because hoover gave his men the instructions to kill on sight. Look how they bushwhacked Dillinger..My g-g uncle was called by hoover "the meanest man I ever knew", and he was the first man hanged under the federal law where killing a G man was a capital offense. When the feds came looking for him, they told his cousin they were looking to kill him..and so he shot first and killed one.
So who was your great uncle? Give a name.
@@meghanmisaliar Great great uncle, and his name was George Barrett. Look up a book called "The G-man and the Diamond King". Or Nelson B. Klein, that was the name of the fed he killed.
Excellent documentary, thanks very much.
Great video
Great documentary and I like the style they presented with the comic strips and actors. Very well done.
I really enjoy these!!!
This is awesome! Glad I found it.. 👍🕺
Ok, Admit it, who else knows that Ellen Poulsen lady stole that accent from Mona Lisa Vito in My Cousin Vinnie. I mean I kept expecting Marisa Tomei to walk out every time she spoke....lol
Or at some point say "l knOOow".
Who is Ellen whateversen?

I only know of him from “oh brother where art thou?”…when he was in the bank screaming at the old lady who called him baby face😭. “MY NAME IS GEORGE NELSON!! NOT BABYFACE!!”…😂
I feel terrible about it but I like Nelson😏
These videos are COOL AS HELL!! They dont make gangsters like these guys anymore these older gangsters DID NOT PLAY AROUND but neither did the police back then. It was real hunting they didnt have all the technology. You could do a crime and get away and when they found you then they went toe to toe gun for gun..DAMN BaByface was hit 17 times and still stood out in the open & kept firing taking them both out..
Back when men were MEN.
Hard times create hard people.

Great video!👍😃
"Oh no Geogre not the livestock!"
Paul Maccabee's Dillinger book is superb, and I love seeing him in documentaries. Excellent production values here 👏
The true real life Joker.
Short man rage
This is 🔥
Thank you so much on this documentary .
I read in the FBI book my parents had on John Dillinger and Baby Face Nelson and other famous FBI cases because I wanted to find out more detail than the movie on Dillinger had shown.
Your documentary cleared up more about Little Bohemia
and Barrington where the shoot out with Nelson occurred.
So sorry about the two brave FBI agents killed by Nelson
The agents that killed 3 innocent civilians right before that? Yeah..... real brave.
Ey hear me out, whoever created that art in Marvel style, my hat down to y'all. Amazing work.
My great uncle at 96 sat at table with us in the early 90’s with his big cowboy hat just stared at me. I was in my early 20’s. He said “don’t rob trucks boy! Ain’t no future in it. I promised that I wouldn’t.

White Heat with James Cagney, great movie also.
These stories are good. They may be bad guys, but they at least dressed well

One question-why is the actor playing Chicago native Baby Face Nelson speaking with a New York accent?
Low budget
He hated cow's more then he hated cops
😂
No one likes cops, they just pretend to respect them in the moment of encountering one.
Yeah he did!
Closing statements from video were, they can win the war on crime?? Lmao
That lady sounds like betty boop.
A refreshing change from the usual poorly done videos on You Tube. Nice work.

AWESOME AND BEAUTIFUL WORK!!!
Amazing acting in this...
💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽
This is my 1st one and I'm in !!!!
The first 4 federally named Public Enemy # 1’s were all from this short era…
John Dillinger
Pretty Boy Floyd (after JD’s death)
Babyface Nelson (after PBF’s death)
And Alvin Karpis (after BN’s death), who served 33 years (26 in Alcatraz) was released and eventually died in 1979.
Also of note, Nelson aka Lester Gillis, was a bit of a “machine gun” connoisseur…he preferred a Thompson for closer work and either a BAR or a Colt Monitor for longer range work
I thought Floyd was killed before Dillinger, including Bonnie and Clyde.
@@NoOne-kr4jc Bonnie and Clyde died May 23rd, 1934.

He's a good actor.
This is real good shit great job
I think Baby Face Nelson was probably more of a Joe Pesci sort of guy, but much crazier. I hear him laughing while he's shooting. All due respect to the actor, he's channeling Capone, but Capone had to actually let Nelson go from their gang because he was too violent.
Like they say, Looks can be deceiving.
This story seems like one of the first cases of little man syndrome😂
I think Napoleon beats him by a century or more.
@@ianb9028I've read that Napolean was at or even a bit more of average height for his day. The British pushed the little man syndrome in their propoganda against Napolean.

Minor nitpick... were those M-16s at 13:15? No wonder the cops were outgunned!
Dillinger didn't like him thought he was too trigger Happy.
They said that.
A woman that I worked with 50 some years ago claimed she shacked up with Baby Face.
Probably a liar, but it is color for my life story. She actually wore a 6 shooter revolver in a holster

He looks more like Warren Oates who played him in the movie Dillinger.
I don't think it's a coincidence since to my mind Dillinger does not look like LHO.
When you find out Baby face Nelson's real last name is the same as yours and there are not tons of people with the last name
Thats not so unusual.
I would actually rather just see a documentary with pictures of the real people, and narration. This seems rather "hokey."
George was "Machine Gun Kelly's" first name , not Lester Nelson's.
