    Good that you tested outside with multiple distance scenarios, cuz that would be the reality that creators would encounter when filming!

    Absolutely brilliant and thank you for testing it with a variety of setups. How does the mic attach to a boom pole, do you need any additional accessories?

    great tests man. seriously considering this mic cause my current one is so large and heavy with the dead cat and lyre suspension mount, want to down size. i personally think the low pass is a little to aggressive. with voice its noticeable and looking at the senn data sheet the low cut kicks in at 180 hz and is a pretty steep fall off, but for size and weight trade off i am willing to accept that. thanks for the help.

    Thanks for the great comparison. Wonder how the sound difference would be between the Sennheiser MKE 200 and the Mke 400 for half the price? Thanks again. 👍

    I was thinking of getting the rode ntg to use with camera for both inside and outdoors. But I like the mke 400 too. Which do you think is better? Maybe have to use it together with recorder because I heard canon camera doesn’t have good audio.

    In your fairly echoey room, I preferred the Rode. Sounded fuller and eliminated more room noise. If one’s only consideration is indoor desktop casting, I would take the Rode Video Mic Pro Plus.

    Did you edit the audio? I find mine is quiet on the 0 and -20 setting and on the +20 the self noise is pretty distracting. My camera gain is set to minimum, anything higher introduces too much noise. I love the form factor and sound, but the self noise is kinda ruining it for me.

    • @editorskeys

      So I would always recommend having it on zero and then adjusting the gain within your camera

      Hi Addrian, thanks for watching! I think with what you have is already perfect, the Rode Video Mic Pro + is bulky, but is also a really good mic for all purposes and we've never seemed to have a reason for upgrade.

  • @macd7743
    @macd7743 Před 2 lety +3

    I actually prefer AAA batteries on a device like this. This battery form factor is better for several reasons: (1) There's no down time ever. Just swap out the batteries and get back to it. (2) The device is less throw away. Eventually all rechargeable batteries lose their ability to hold a sufficient charge or recharge at all. At that time we find ourselves in the position of having to try and figure out an aftermarket replacement solution or having to throw out an otherwise perfectly good piece of $200 gear. What a waste in all regards. Such tech devices don't really become obsolete, and if you see them as the kind that do you'll probably at least agree that it takes a lot longer for that to happen than many other tech devices. (3) Is it really so difficult to have the foresight to have one extra pair of AAA batteries in one's bag? They are quite small, lightweight, and cheap. Are you really going to record for 300 hours straight? After all, there's only 24 hours hours in a day; 300 hours would be, technically, 12.5 days nonstop. That's just silly. Besides all of that, if you wanted to use AAA rechargeable batteries, go for it!
