BCN was performed for Immortal Songs, a competition show where artists perform covers but can put their own take to it. BCN was originally done by Turbo, which Kim Jung Kook was the main vocalist for.
This was Ateez's 1st win on the show (they have won 4 times which is the most any group has won, and in only 6 appearances - i would recommend watching them, especially the last win Highway in the Gale as it was a celebration of military episode)
Due to the reception of the song, they wanted to make an MV and approached KJK to be in the MV. This marked the beginning of a friendship and he then approached Ateez to collab with Be My Lover (the random dude in the mv is an actor friend of KJK and he apparantly invites them to be in things at random whicg is hilarious)
And Pentatonix/Acapella slander aside, I will be forever grateful for them because, they introduced me to Ateez. I had never heard kpop before. They had released a BTS mashup prior to that song and i was intrigued by it.

So i am from italy and black cat nero it's a children song from one of the most famous labels here , iconic, it was kinda funny when they released it . I think then turbo( jongkook is in it) remade it and got popular over there as well. When atz covered this song on immortal songs (which u should def watch all of their appearances) it's for me when they really said "we are the best performers " , mind blowing to me and even tho they have won more on the show it still remains on the top imo.

black cat nero was ateez's first immortal songs win in august/sept of 2020, so they put out a slightly revamped version with the performance video for halloween. they won the episode where jongkook was the guest judge and the theme was turbo covers (jongkook's idol group/duo); bc of their immortal songs appearance and him agreeing to cameo in the halloween vid, they've fostered a lovely working relationship (/friendship outside of the public eye?) which led to the collab of be my lover/season songs (be my lover=summer, black cat nero=fall, white love=winter (spring can go get fucked ig)) and ateez even appearing on gym jongkook last year (his youtube series).

Black cat Nero is a certified banger and one of my favs. It was one of their immortal songs performances (which I suggest you watch the performance, it’s amazing). And the guys in it is Kim jungkook.
Be my lover is really a fun summer song in all ways shapes and forms. I love that we get a bit of rapper hwa in it as well❤ (I also thought watching the old dude dance was funny but not in an offensive way, I just wasn’t expecting it I guess😂)

I had a period of time years ago when I was obsessed with pentatonix, it didn’t last long 😂 I was still excited for the collab, it was a good opportunity, wish it got more attention.
Black cat Nero is originally an Italian children song, turbo, a pretty old kpop group covered it years ago. Ateez rearranged it and performed it for the first time on immortal song in front of turbo. They recoded this special video after. Kim Jongkook from turbo really liked them and so he collaborated with them. They also went for an episode of his fitness show.
You should really watch all their immortal song performances, they are incredible!

I’m so upset that I have to use voice to text to get out all of my feelings because I know my thumbs just will not suffice, but I’m even more mad that you made me laugh at the end with the fade to black about the sports because I was starting to vomit in my mouth the second you started to mention a sports channel and then you even called me out so that made me laugh but I just want you know how upset I am about the A little space slander and the Pentatonix slander and the Scott slander because I am feeling physically violent. I think everyone else has already talked enough about the origins of Black Cat Nero and the desperation we have for you to watch all the immortal songs performances, so I won’t touch much more on that. The stepping dance breakdown in the middle is actually part of one of their predebut special stages, all of which go so hard it’s criminal. A little space didn't receive much love and attention, at that time I really liked Pentatonix so you can imagine how happy I was, I liked it at that time but now I kind forgot it 😂
What I liked to know is that Pentatonix itself contacted Ateez first about doing a Collab! And at that time Ateez was doing a comeback (Deja Vu) so Scott (the blonde and the one you don't like 😂) even managed to participate in the voting system to see if deja vu or eternal sunshine would be the title track!
Kim Jong Kook kind of adopted Ateez after they performed on Immortal Songs 😂 We can't complain because we got his blessing so the boys could re-record the song and make a performance video! And years later we still see the awesome friendship between sunbae and hoobaes since KJK invited Ateez to his variety show (where they go to the gym, so its nice!)
15:58 - I really don't know how to explain this but as a brazilian person this vocal in the back is pretty common in Brazilian funk and the literal translation means "little step" and its a dance that involves little steps to say the least 😂 it's just one of those things that make sense only if you grew around it and you vibe it but you also don't know to explain 😂

ateez have actually used that exact dance break in black cat nero before, so it's funny they finally put it in an official release. i believe it first made the rounds during the 2019 expedition tour (with their other dance covers of pick it up, one time coming, some chris brown song, etc... i found a good fancam here: czcams.com/video/N5Xhmd5DKxw/video.html ). it also appears in the 2020 golden disc awards performance (here: czcams.com/video/__mCL1kdZMk/video.html ). they do a woosan dance intro (modified and also later performed throughout the 2022 fellowship tour) into an abridged ver. of answer (iirc this was like 2 days before answer came out, which is crazy. funny to see history repeat itself with 2023 mamas and crazy form), then wonderland, with the dance break thrown in the middle as a transition between the main stage and extended stage.
