Aye! 🤪 Every January I have to try "peeling" the turnips, I wrestle with it for ages and nearly lose a few fingers in the process but I get there in the end. 🤣 I'm off to your etsy store to check out your work, I love unique gift ideas to send to loved ones abroad. It helps that they're Scottish too 😄❤😁
I just came home from Edinburgh and thanks to this video I knew where to get the best haggis. I was at the Arcade and it was great. I also went to the Story Telling Centre but didnt have haggis there.
With my trip to scotland concluded ill say this: The Haggis box was amazing, not because of the good haggis:), but because of the great recitation of Burn's great ode to the haggis. Lifted everyones spirit, as it came unexpected :P. Good tip..... now i wanna go back. 3 days out of one week isnt enough.
I'm really glad you included the Haggis box at the Storytelling centre. We loved it there and the chef made me a vegan whisky, mustard sauce which was delicious
All of them look so good, but The whiski bar at the Royal Mile is where I’ve had the best haggis ever. I always take my visitors over there and it’s always a win! Awww it’s sooo good! 😋
Really enjoyed this video - not sure if it was the chill vibes, the clarity/quality of the filming or maybe you had me at haggis…. Always enjoy your content 🙋♀️
YAY!!! - Haggis is truly a unique and delicious food. Looks like a pretty good deal for someone who wants to try it at the Haggis Box. I had my own Burns Supper here in Toronto last night and made some Scotch eggs too. Enjoyed a Tennants pint and after meal Classic Laddie whisky. Your uploads remind me of how expensive Edinburgh is now-a-days.
That place always smells so good! That whole section of Rose street always makes me wonder why I don't stop for lunch more often! Glad to hear you loved it .)
I have loved haggis ever since I first tried it at a restaurant that I can't remember the name of close to Haymarket Station. A nice waiter at the restaurant also helped calm our nerves by explaining why the £20 notes we got from an ATM didn't look the way we expected them to look (I have since learned to love Scottish £). Great video as always and more things added to the itiniary.
As time rolls on your definitely becoming more Scottish with your speech on these video's young lady. My wife is from Edinburgh originally but now lives in England sadly she says.
Maker's Mash's haggis is great for people new to haggis and wants to try for the first time! definitely not as strong as the other haggis but still flavourful
I've never tried it. I'm not sure why I didn't when I visited Edinburgh years ago, never occurred to me. I was more interested in going to a proper pub for the first time in may years, despite rarely drinking. Makes total sense! I'm hoping to visit there later this year and I'll try one then for sure. Thanks for the top tips.
Arcade seems to be a bit of a divisive one! Seems like even in this comment section people can't quite agree on if it's great or a let down 😅 always worked out great for me!
Was at Makar's yesterday for lunch (a day trip to collect a lost suitcase from Waverley, same price as getting it couriered, and worth a 2hr train journey for a day in lovely Edinburgh). I was pleased to be found a table although I was on my own. I was expecting an exceptional haggis for £17, but in reality it was little different than the supermarket haggis I buy every Burns night, the neeps were under peppered, and the generous sauce was bland, tasted of nothing much. The worst was a very limited selection of whiskies, no Islay at all ! I so wish I'd gone to the Arcade Bar, my second choice by reviews, but thought it a bit too posh and expensive for a lone dining experience. Next time ...
I love your videos of my favourite city! Thank you! I also love theHaggis Burger on real good Brioche at the Burger and Beers Grillhouse - they call it'Frying Scotsman'😀-I always go there when in Edinburg ...sometimes twice!🙂
There’s a pub in Edinburgh along Broughton St that does haggis bonbons for an appetizer. Maybe the Barony? The bonbons were amazing! Possibly my favorite haggis ever! 😋
Great video! I love haggis😊. While visiting Edinburgh last autumn, had my first-ever haggis at The Last Drop and became a fan (of haggis and The Last Drop)! Also managed to grab the last available table upstairs at the Auld Hundred pub on Rose St and had the Balmoral Chicken, which was quite nice. I’ll be coming over from the States again this autumn to run in the Dramathon up on Speyside. Definitely will spend time in both Edinburgh and Inverness.
Hi. I’m also from the states, Atlanta currently. I went to Edinburgh last April with my son …we also had lunch at Auld Hundred and enjoyed it a lot. Loved the coziness of the restaurant with tables close, tasty food and just a wonderful experience/memory of our trip. Good luck next autumn 🙋♀️💙🏴
Right. I'll be trying Haggis Box tomorrow I think. The Abbotsford on Rose street does a really good Haggis, neeps and tatties. Then you can have Cranachan for dessert. The upstairs restaurant is pretty classy.
For an easy to try Haggis for people who aren't sure about it, and for a grab and go option you can get a Haggis Roll from The Pie Maker on South Bridge.
@@Kakibot Yes, they are an awesome shop and are always on my list of places to stop at when I am in Edinburgh. I have never been disappointed by anything I have picked up there.
Great vid as always, do love a bit of haggis. Just a thought, a video looking at the different supermarkets/delis from around the world (Asian, Polish, Italian etc) in Edinburgh might be good, not touristy I s'pose but might be useful for living here. HNY to you both too!
Paul!! I've been dreaming of making that video for ages as I am obsessed with international shops in Edinburgh. I am still trying to figure out how to frame it - I think that even from the perspective of saving money it's good to know where one might find special ingredients for less!
@@Kakibot @Kakibot's Edinburgh Adventures! Cool! I love them because it's like going on a mini vacation, the different sights, and smells and, yep, a lot cheaper for some of the ingredients and kitchen utensils too(the Chinese supermarkets particularly.) If you do make a video though, you have to include 'Valvona and Crolla', it's the law ;-)
OK this may be weird bordering on blasphemous, but last time we were there my wife found these haggis crisps that she claimed she really liked. I eventually steeled myself to try one and quickly concluded that they weren't for me, but she seemed to like them :)
Ooooh I love those! I fall into the category of people who think haggis spice goes well with anything 😅 but not gonna judge! At least…. …. Not publicly haha
Howies was among our contenders for this video! I super wanted to go, it always smells so good - will have to give it a try soon! Thanks for the tip .)
You mean store bought or from scratch? Because... yes to both! Check it out if you're curious .) czcams.com/video/x80MoscrH_A/video.html
We did the touristy thing and went to Deacon Brodie’s so no doubt overpaid but it was very good, the whisky sauce was terrific. Will keep these in mind for next time. I have to pass on the neeps though. Videos always look good but this one looked particularly clear & crisp, did you get a new camera?
Oooooh consider my new camera flattered! We've actually had this camera since summer, but it has taken us some time to familiarise ourselves with it - so maybe we are only reaching its full potential now! I really love it though, worth all the ad revenue savings 💸 Also, I don't know many people who will eat around the neeps! .D I always get sad when I feel like neeps are underrepresented in my meal x)
Wont lie...arcade bar was one of my least favorites for haggis, and was my 1st stop last trip...was good, but kind of eh. No 1 High St was quite good. Out of town, Nicky Tams in Stirling was quite good also.
Nooooo! Even the veggie one? They OFTEN taste basically the same due to the spices and oaty texture just kinda overriding anything that people might have an issue with!
Hey hey my haggis loving peeps! Haggis: YAY OR NAY? I don't even know if I am aware of any people who DID try haggis and still didn't enjoy it 🤨

Whenever I visit Edinburgh I must have haggis at the Arcade Bar Haggis & Whisky House, sooo good!!
We LOVED the haggis, neeps, and tatties (and steak pie!) at Auld Hundred on Rose St! Definitely will return there on our next trip(:

Haggis Box was awesome! Quick, inexpensive and very tasty. Can't wait to comeback to Edinburgh and try the other recommendations! 🥰

There used to be a Hornigs butcher in Newington back in the day
Great content 👌 Edinburgh is lovely and haggis is king 🤴
Coming through to save our Burns Night plans!!! Whoo whee!!! Thank you
Too late, already home in Slovakia! But next time this will be my guideline for haggis :)
Did you get to try any at all during your trip? .)
@@Kakibot Unfortunately, no, since I was with my daughter and she is picky eater. But that is also why I am definitely going back! 😊

Looking for vegatarian halal options in Edinburgh

Try Zsa Zsa cafe
Any suggestions for a gluten free Haggis?
I did see a reference to it on the menu at the Arcade Bar. Any other locations that people know of?
