I can't justify changing my Z6II for the Z8 since I'm not a pro but never say never 🎉 Nikon you are the best
You can't justify because it's your personal choice how you manage and spend your money, and that is very ok and normal.
However, any highly advanced amateur that knows their game, knows what the Z8 is, and understands how this helps them, is ok with the additional size and weight, and has money to do it, will in an instant change their Z5, Z6, Z7, Z6 II, Z7 II for the Z8!

Don't buy into the GAS (Gear Acquisition Syndrome). No matter how impressive the Nikon Z 8 is, if you don't need it, you don't need it.

Your Z6II is better than you realize. I bought one in June 22 (upgrading from a 10 year old D3200 😮). Fell in love with it to the point i bought a Z9 3 months later. Intial thought was I'd have no use for the Z6II and went to trade in, but local shop gave me a laughable offer. Blessing in disguise as i quickly found out i prefer the Z6II for night shooting and am so happy i kept it. I have no doubt you'd love a Z8/Z9, BUT i also think you'd miss your Z6 depending on what you shoot. If the Z8 had been a sensor more like the Z6 with the Z9's AF, I'd be contemplating an upgrade- but looks like I'll be having these two bodies for a long time.
For background- I'm a hobbyist that has flirted with doing professional work, but think I'd hate photography for a living (i don't like editing & only like people in small doses) and already have a fulfilling career as a med lab tech. My justification for buying all this was i had been eyeing old vettes when i already have a V8 camaro i don't get to play with/baby as much as I'd like due to work or bad weather. Buying the camera equipment gave me a new toy without the responsibility a 3rd car comes with.

Connectivity and options with smartphones in the z6ii and z7ii are very poor. Are these features improved in the z8 ?
My connection with my z7ii was brilliant with my iPhone, downloading photos without doing anything. The z8 doesn’t seem to do that or if it does I have not found out how to do it yet.

@Nikon Europe Ok, it has ALL those features, but it can't record a multiple exposure in RAW, like the D700, or D800, cameras that are more than 10 years old!!! It is a tool I use a lot with creative purpose, and for rendering interiors in architecture, that can be made in post via photoshop, but it ultimately translates to more time in front of the computer, instead of 5 minutes to prep the shot (on very complex lighting scenarios).... please Nikon consider that capability, is it just firmware or do you need to change something else inside the camera?
i am still using mynover ten years old D800 still not in Z mount world I was partly a G.A.S. person years ago with audio equipment but now over 15 years a Nikon shooter I always wait one full year before buying new it saves Money and time to make the final punch into the next camera !
@@edwardphilipmarianafzger9800 Absolutely right, I use my D800, and D700 almost on a daily basis.I used to "need" every piece of equipment, not now. I'll keep waiting to make the Z jump, but as long as they don't include NEF recording for multiple exposures, it's a no for me.

@@edwardphilipmarianafzger9800 D800 does all I need, for other things there is the D780 I also have - that wraps up the video side and live view/silent shooting.
No need for this, and oh wait the D800 is fully mag alloy body with a well designed grip which can take AA's too.

Nikon please go medium format and bring back the Zenza Bronica company with true 6x6 and 6x45 sensors. Mirrorless has made medium format much faster and versatile.

Most people shooting with this level of camera aren't doing selfies, but everyone has different needs and I respect that.
I'm struggling to understand if you want the canon or already got it, BUT if you didn't- i believe the nikon Z50 is designed for content creators and has a flip screen capable of selfies/self filming. Could be easier/cheaper to get that than switch to canon depending on how many/what lenses you have.
Make your camera based on costumer need ..not yours. And costumer need full automatic focuse Higher picture quality, hd 4k 60 fps and 120 fps video resolution,slo mo, with luts and most imp part compact body and also flip screen rotations function ..

It does record 4k 120p
And at 120p you can slow it down 4x and still have 30fps to work with.
