I've taken the Flushing line many times to the World's Fair in the early 60's, and later to Shea to see the Mets' but I never knew the last stop was back in the subway!
It feels like I'm in the opening credits for Welcome Back Kotter. lol God Damn, I love New York City!!
Brings back memories for me. My dad used to work in the courthouse on off Jay Street.
Thanks DJ, I Lived in LIC back in the 50's and 60's and wow Queens Plaza has really changed. I use to ride the World Fair cars then the red birds. Thanks for the ride!
+Rich Maint I loved the Worlds Fair cars. A few were preserved, check out this video:

Excellent Video, Thanks!
+tact86 Glad you enjoyed!!!
Watching this with some Tim Hecker in my ears is truly beautiful.
+john webb hahaha good call!
These videos are great -- thanks!
+Alex Strasheim Glad you enjoyed! I have more coming.
Nice I never went "this way" always got on at GCT and went out to Shea, (now Citi Field).
Man I miss riding this train as a child good memories
Entertaining video, i love it
Do they still have the great platform entertainers back there ??You know ,some great jazz sax players etc. ?? Love N.Y.C..😉 Thank you dj Hammers I'm a recent viewer and subscriber and truly enjoy these great videos . Great ,great job...👍
Slice of New York life, forget how big nyc is!
Queens, The Bronx, and Manhattan reminds me of "Wolfen" starring Albert Finney and Gregory Hines.
Professional quality. Very nice ride along!!!
+Christian Herenz Glad you enjoyed!!!
+Dj Hammers I remember watching some of your videos a year ago or so on yt - and I have the feeling that the quality is now more professional - superb! will watch some more on the weekend :D
+Christian Herenz Thanks! I recently invested in some new camera equipment.
I'm coming back to New York just so that I can ride the #7. When my dad was a United Nations employee back in the day, he would take us to work with him on that train
Those timed signals really grind my gears.
+General Case You and me both! haha
Never understood why would they have those timers there on straight track...
I wanna watch the 2 train or the Q train!!
+Joe Horikawa I'll do my best to get all the lines if I can. Depends on what rolling stock ends up moved to what line.
I want a r188 7 train and r188 express also please
Good 7 train
Very nice! :-)
+franklinboeing Thanks!!!
Nice that stretch between 34 St-Hudson Yards and 42 st Times square tho
+R32160 culverexpress Yeah, it's pretty cool!
Aside from the tunnel stretch between 34th/Hudson Yards and Hunterspoint Ave and the descent into the Main St subway term. in Flushing, this line seems like it spends more time above ground as an el than underground as a subway.
+TheChicagoL Yup. The main part of the line is above ground.
TheChicagoL
Werdrctno-
Nice video from the RFW
+Henry Johnson Thanks!
Dj Hammers your welcome
I work for the MTA!! Best job ever!!!
+Randy Rhoads I can totally understand. What an amazing system.
Dj Hammers It's amazing how everything works like clock work!!! Thank you for a great video! My girlfriend told me about it!
Randy Rhoads thank you for amazing ride give us when I came out Christmas 2012 always love Nyc
A nice touch would be to add lower third graphics to tell the viewer what station the train is in. Great video, though.
Are you driving the R188
hey i like your videos. you should make a video with the L train front view. it would be cool.
+tony montana I want to do that so bad lol.
do it bro lol
Were there any express trains running? I only saw local trains running on the 7 line video.
+Benjamin Chan This was right at the beginning of rush hour. Expresses had only just started running.
Do expresses leave corona and start at 111th st or instead head to Main st? The 7 line is so curious for me. I like the timelapses of what each subway line goes through under the tunnels.
There was a express train when the train was leaving 61st Woodside
what type if car was you recording on?
+Rephaiah Yisrael I was on an R62A car
Ohh,what's your top three favorite car's btw
Mines is r68,r46 and r62
Ultimate challenge: Do one of these for every single line, in both directions.
+Edwin Martinez Vazquez I'm going to try to do that.
i wanna be a train operator when i leave high school what are the steps that you took and how long did it take you?
+SILO To become a train operator, you have to take an open competitive civil service exam or a promotional civil service exam. You usually have to have 5 years of experience at a job or a college diploma to apply for train operator. However, you can apply for conductor, station cleaner, traffic checker, etc. with just an HS diploma, and then take a promotional exam to train operator.
+Dj Hammers so 5 years at ANY job or college
Yeah
+Dj Hammers and where do u go to take the exam
All that info should be on the MTA's employment page: web.mta.info/mta/employment/
The Orient Express.
When I started, they walk way was wood, before they changed them to yellow! It's also easier to see than the wood!
+Randy Rhoads They switched over to the fiberglass catwalks in the late 1980s. Easier to maintain.
Dj Hammers Yes, and you can see then in the evening and night.
Does anybody know if the 7 still have front window view cars?
Nope
Sadly, the 7 train and all subways must run underground due to incliment weather conditions (a.k.a Winter Storm Jonas). So the 7 runs between Hunters-Point ave, and 34 street Hudson Yards
+Justin Paz yup!
+Dj Hammers then again, it opened!
you are a train driver???
Hey, Nice Video!!! Yea, I'm Getting The Canon HF R62 Camcorder Over The Weekend! Your Advice Was Close To Accurate! Lol Gotta Introduce Myself To The Camcorder Community!
+Raymond Cho Awesome!!!! Canon makes good cameras.
Dj Hammers Oh Of Course!!! Canon Does Make Good Cameras!
+Dj Hammers And By The Way, 4K Is A Tad Expensive! I'd Rather Go For 1080P As I Don't Like Spending Much Money For A Camera Over The $500 To $600 Range. But, As The Years Pass By, I May Make My Mind Up Lol
+Raymond Cho Yeah 4K is still on the pricy side. I needed a new camera, and decided to just spend the extra for 4K instead of having to invest money in a new camera again to get to 4K a couple of years down the road.
Dj Hammers Ah. I See. I Got The Canon Vixia HF R62 Camcorder Today And I'm Pretty Impressed With Its Video Capabilities! I Also Decided To Spend The Extra Lol
Date of video?
+Richard Nixon This was taken on Tuesday, January 5th.
38:50 Hey, I can see the depot! On the right! T.W.U Local 100!!!! AFL-CIO. #1
+Randy Rhoads Yeah that's Casey Stengel! Good bus depot!!!
Dj Hammers I have pictures while shea stadium was still there! I took them from the employee parking lot! Side by side with citi field.
how does he know where to stop exactly... theres no mark or anything like that. like at 10:30 he stopped somewhere in the middle of the platform, while in other times he stopped almost into the tunnel.
+imp alor www.mta.info/news/2013/11/12/subway-conductors-point-way-safety
right, i know about the black and white board that the conductor looks at. but how does the driver know where to stop. if conductor has the black and white stripes to make sure its ok to open the doors, how does the driver know where to stop? all stations are different
+imp alor
That's The Train Operator's Job. You Know, There Is A Car Number Marker Up Top In The 10:30 Point. Regular Flushing Line Trains Have 11 Car Consists, So In That Case, The T/O Would Have To Apply The Brakes And Get The Front Of The Train To Stop Right By The 11 Car Marker. In Other Cases, Like The G Train, The T/O Has To Stop At The 4 Car Marker, Since They Haul 4 Cars Regularly On That Line. And On The Subway Lines, If The Train Is Running OPTO (One Person Train Operation), Then The T/O Has A Few Tasks To Completer And Overcome. The T/O Will Stop At That OPTO Marker And Manually Open The Doors Through His Cab. Hoped That Broke It Down!
+imp alor There are little signs that say "11" on them (for 11 car train) at each station where the train operator is supposed to stop at. Similarly, if the train was 8 cars, the train operator would stop at the "8" sign, for example
0:10 Flushing Main St
The mta should of built the 10 AV station.
True or false
+hockeyboss 689 I think that the 10Av station should have been built. It would have served an area with no subway service right now.
Yes i agree with you
Mta ran out of money... Their excuse for everything
at least I know it takes 43 min
The vid didn't work why ?
The video works my tablet.
+Cole Phelps Try refreshing the page. CZcams had a bit of a hiccup with playback earlier today.
+Dj Hammers it works now thanks and good vid by the way 👍🏼
Awesome!!!
It says "Playback error"
+rafael asuncionXD (broniesrock285) Try viewing the video again. CZcams may still be processing it. The raw footage was 19GB!
+Dj Hammers it's working
You should get a vid like this for the N or Q there's not any out there yet
+Pvttorreseleven That's difficult because the cars on those lines have full width cabs. I'll see what I can do.
yeah i know what you mean, maybe you could try to mount a go pro in the front if your willing to take the risk.
+MrFaller86 yeah, it does look really shady
With the quality of your vids, I thought you were a man who had "connections."
how to do u even make vids like theses?? u ask mta??
When I started, the fare was 90 cents!
+Randy Rhoads Sweet! Don't we all wish it was still 90 cents haha
Dj Hammers It pays our salaries. Are you from Queens?
I live at 74 street Broadway
+Meher RAFI Cool!
That is cool I think u can transfer to 5 trains!
🚈🚍🚈🚈🚉74 st
Damn new yorks subway looks old and ugly compared to London
