  • How did World War 1 start? We bet some of you don't know it began with an assassination, but why would the killing of the heir to the Astro-Hungarian Empire start a global conflict which the world had never seen before? Check out today's new video where we try and explain the many factors that led to the world erupting in what would be known as the "Great War".

Not funny. I didn't laugh. Your joke is so bad I would have preferred the joke went over my head and you gave up re-telling me the joke. To be honest this is a horrible attempt at trying to get a laugh out of me. Not a chuckle, not a hehe, not even a subtle burst of air out of my esophagus. Science says before you laugh your brain preps your face muscles but I didn't even feel the slightest twitch. 0/10 this joke is so bad I can't believe anyone legally allowed you to be creative at all. The amount of brain power you must have put into that joke has the potential to power every house on Earth. Get a personality and learn how to make jokes, read a book. I'm not saying this to be funny i genuinely mean it on how this is just bottom barrel embarrassment at comedy. You've single handedly killed humor and every comedic act on the planet. I'm so disappointed that society has failed as a whole in being able to teach you how to be funny. Honestly if I put in all my power and time to try and make your joke funny it would require Einstein himself to build a device to strap me into so I can be connected to the energy of a billion stars to do it, and even then all that joke would get from people is a subtle scuff. You're lucky i still have the slightest of empathy for you after telling that joke otherwise I would have committed every war crime in the book just to prevent you from attempting any humor ever again. We should put that joke in text books so future generations can be wary of becoming such an absolute comedic failure. Im disappointed, hurt, and outright offended that my precious time has been wasted in my pathetic brain understanding that joke. In the time that took i was planning on helping kids who have been orphaned, but because of that you've wasted my time explaining the obscene integrity of your terrible attempt at comedy. Now those kids are suffering with out meals and there's nobody to blame but you. I hope you're happy with what you have done.

Some more facts: Austria-Hungary annexed Bosnia (crawling with Serbs) which domestic people found quite repulsive, that's why they killed a lot more high officials there. The Serbian ambassador In AH delivered concerns that attentat might be possible and he was laughed out loud. But the main game changer is that Gabrilo Princip was Austro-Hungarian citizen, not Serbian. He was a Serbian guy living in Bosnia which was annexed by AH.

Dude...

Coalitions and arms race are the reasons behind ww1. Look at Ukraine now, everyone’s wanting to send weapons to them and help them, they think they’re helping, but they’re just heating up the situation, getting more nations involved. The worst case scenario is that we’ll have China and Rusia against the rest of the world in a few months. Then; who’s the dock head. Not saying that I’m with Rusia, I dislike Putin and his acts alot, but I don’t think interference will help Ukraine one bit, if we now should look at history, so that we’re not condemned to repeat it.

We will mostly talk about germany because that's the history provided by the "heroic" allies. In reality Britain could prevent the start of World war 1. Germany were willing to leave both beligum and france be if Britain ensured its neutrality but they refused. That's right, Britain could have prevented world war 1 with a sentence but it was never their intention. Churchill was a true war-monger . They were definitely the ones steering the world towards a war.

grus grus well I agree with the narrator, there is many reasons. Europe was a powder keg, the rapid colonialism helped escalate a European conflict to a global one. I grew up in small town America where I was told Germany caused both world wars, and videos like these almost help fan the flames to that narrative but the whole picture is much more dense than a global conflict being chalked up to a single lone nation.

@@TheDarkEnemy Actually, no. By that point there was already war between Germany and Russia. Britain couldn't prevent the war by then because it'd already started. There was war in Serbia, and with Russia.
And if Britain agreed to neutrality, all of its alliances would be wrecked, because nobody would consider them trustworthy enough for an alliance. It'd be a case of "you sold France and Belgium out, who's to say you won't sell us out too?" If Britain did that, France was still refusing a guarantee of neutrality, probably for the same reason, so Germany would've gone to war with them anyway.
Also, Churchill wasn't Prime Minister in 1914, Herbert Asquith was.

One of them basically told the Tsar he was weak, and the Tsar continued the mobilization while on the verge of peace. The Germans in charge while Wilhelm was away were the ones who really wanted the war. France wanted revenge om the Germans for the Franco-Prussia war. Britain really just wanted Germany to be weak. In old literature, starting from the time of the War of 1812, all the way up through the start of WW1, it is often expressed that a group of independent British Tycoon Imperialists *were suspected of constantly trying to covertly* "stir up" aggressions between neighboring balkan/european countries. As Imperialists, the idea was to get neighboring countries engaged in a war, and, from a safe distance (provided by the "water gap" of the English Channel), sit back and watch two nearby combatant countries WEAR EACH OTHER DOWN (and thereby render each other Weak.) Once the two manipulated countries were sufficiently Weak, the plan of the British Tycoon Imperialists was to "swoop down" and "scoop up" all the available spoils that the two (manipulated) weakened countries had to offer. In other words, back in the Old Days (years 1812 through 1918), it was *THE BRITISH* who were constantly suspected (in a "tin foil hat"/conspiracy sort of way) of reliably being the universal *BAD GUYS* .
