Engine moves in most positions would be borderline useless or even harming to players under 2000.

It's been decades since I've played chess myself and I was never rated even then. But when I look at 2:36, Magnus looks like he's behind, no? Doesn't look like a completely lost position, but still white looks to be having the more aggressive, active pieces. How does he still pull out a win against a GM from there!

I would say there is a fair definition for a "real" opening. One that doesn't put you at a practical disadvantage for the rest of the game. Anything that doesn't fall into that category probably qualify as trick openings or unsystematic play.
I'd prefer to call them "stable" openings or something though, as anything can be real, no matter how wildly losing it may be.

The Chigorin Variation (2.Qe2) isn't disrespectful.It's actually one of the best scoring moves for White against the French Defense.

In Lichess arena tournaments, you can press the berzerk button at the start of the game which means you cut your time in half, but IF you then win the game you get double the points. It's a gamble, essentially, which makes this even more hilarious considering it's against Magnus of all people

It was disrespectful because it was intended to abuse a pre-move. Many french defense players will pre-move d5, but the queen would pin the first pawn and win you their premoved d5 pawn. It's a bad move that your opponent can easily react to, but you're gambling that they pre-moved.
Separate to the pre move concern, it’s a move that should ideally only work against a lesser player so it’s “disrespectful” in the sense that the opponent thinks it could work against him.

I forget exactly how it works but it's called berserk. You can choose to do it in a tournament before you match up with your opponent. It cuts your time in half but doubles your points if you win. Obvously you wouldn't do it knowing you're going to match up with Magnus, but he's only one guy in the whole field. The guy probably figured, I'm a strong gm, I'll beat most of my opponents in the tourney with half time and have more points than everybody else... And then matches up with a goat lol

Why did the opponent have such little time?
The opponent chose to click "Berserk" on Lichess - an option that makes you play with half the initially available time to make the game harder for the "berserker". Since Magnus often plays deliberately bad openings and some people view that as disrespectful, the opponent either tried to return the favor or level the playing field in his eyes somewhat.
Can somebody explain what is going on and why it's considered offensive/disrespectful to those of us who have absolutely no idea about chess, and are just curious/ down a youtube rabbit hole?
I just figured this out from these CZcams comments but apparently there's an option to start with half the time on your clock and if you win, you get double the points. This guy chose to do that against Magnus. Seems like a bad idea and magnus proved that it indeed was a bad idea

laughing at someone's hard work to become a grandmaster is obviously rude. The kid is a grand master he's playing, and you went through a lot of work. Only to be laughed by a better player is pretty rude.
I think queen to e2 is considered a good move vs a beginner but Magnus is the world champion. So it's a bit like a pro boxer fighting with no guard vs Mike Tyson in his prime.
Because it sets up a method that usually works against beginners but .. magnus is magnus
the second move black plays is queen to e2 which is strong versus weaker opponents, but very vulnerable to better players

It's disrespecful because the person is playing a dumb move on purpose, like "I'm so good I'll give you the advantage", like a goalkeeper playing with closed eyes or a boxer fighting with only one arm.
