The police that had stopped their bus at a checkpoint for the usual 20 Naira bribe, flagged down an oncoming vehicle. The refusal of the vehicle’s driver to stop caused one of the officers to fire the shot that hit Olasunkanmi Fagbemi. He was sitting in the bus alongside other passengers. They were waiting for the driver to return with his balance of 80 Naira having given the police a 100 Naira note.
