I totally agree, Julia. I was absolutely stunned! Patricia Arquette is a seriously amazing actress. There are so many actors who are the same in movies and shows, so it is amazing to see actors who can really extend themselves intensely dramatically, like Charlize Theron in "Monster." WOW!

to add, to be clear in the understanding: whether it's Munchausen or Munchausen-by-proxy, the individual or the child of the mentally frakked mother, *IS* really ill/sick - but the illness is *induced deliberately.* usually via some sort of poison or product toxic to humans - though one or more that (at least in past days) is hard to detect via standard hospital lab tests..it's fascinating but a very odd & frightening condition.. some of the mothers, for instance, will even be so desperate for the sympathetic attention that they take it too far and either accidentally or on purpose, eventually cause the death of their own children.
[i had a patient, many years ago, whose mother was definitely doing this to her child..i carefully made it clear i was onto her, told her his hospital room door was never to be closed in future and reported her to our hospital authorities - who then reported it to the police..and, honestly, my first reaction was to want to take that mother's head off].
either form of it, it's one of the most messed up conditions ever..and there was actually a movie some years back, in which there was a little girl who figured out her mother was doing that to her and secretly began to video record it..i think it was learned, in the story arc, via her ghost..an M. Knight Shayamalan film, i believe.

I've always thought Patricia was a great actress, but recently, she's becoming one of the top greatest actresses in the business! Her performance in 'Escape at Dannamora' was absolutely brilliant! She stole the show! I thought I was watching the actual person, instead of the actress. If that show was an actual movie and was released in theaters, hands down....she would have been nominated for an Oscar and win. Just amazing work. Now it looks like she's gonna give another incredible performance with this new series. Can't wait.
She can play all "Complicated Monster Women" all she wants cause she's great at it.
