    Thanks so much for this tip. My 2009 T & C with 172,000 miles has done this for years and I've taken it to multiple dealerships and they can't seem to figure it out. Unfortunately I let one talk me into a replacement starter which was a waste of $675. I have never been stranded though - what usually happens is I turn the key anywhere from 2 to 30 times and then it finally starts. I will suggest this the next time I take it in but not sure if I want to put that much money into this vehicle!

    Hi I just ran through this problem and it the issue began when I pull my sparkplug wire to hard. I thought maybe relay went bad for some odd reason. I found a loose wire yellow wir and after looking and looking I felt around the starter and notice that it went on the starter. I must of came off when I pulled the spark wire and pull the wiring harness. Dont know if this could help but my van had the same issues on you video

    2011 Town & Country Touring - 119k = I just had this problem today. Well for the past few weeks, when I'd start it, the starter would crank slower and slower annnd sloooower each time till it barley turnned and then the next time, right back to a perfect start! Until today when she tried to start and did a partial crank, stopped and there was a slight burn smell from the engine compartment and now its doing exactly what your video is doing. Just had it towed to the shop. Not happy. Worried. Battery is brand new, not even 6 months old. Alternator was checked and came up 100%! The starter was looked at by 2 mechanics maybe 2 to 3 weeks ago and deemed excellent. Voltage seems fine. I am NOT mechanically inclined so Idk!

    I'm having that same issue with my 2014 T&C with 49,000 miles, just started a few days ago. Van was also shutting down on me while in motion, kinda scary I might add. The oil change message was blinking so I thought it might've be that, so I changed oil today and reset the message. The van didn't shut off on me today but when I went to start it several times, it would not crank. I noticed that there are many shutting down issues posted online with these vehicles. This is my third T&C but it's also the only one with issues. Not long ago I had a transmission issue. After calling the dealer service dept. still under warranty, they fixed it. They had to replace the ECM and the relay box.

    Our 2012 Town and Country does some weird stuff. It does not do what this video shows. But it will start. As soon as you let go of the push button it dies. When you go to restart it it will just continue to turn over even when you release the brake and push button. So you have start pushing the start button again to get it to stop. And best of all when you go to turn it off. you press the button and it stops and go to Assy mode. so you have to press the button again. then it goes to run mode. then you have to press the button again. repete till is show its in the off mode. And to they DIY guy my understanding is if you replace the TIPM your self you will have to flash the computer to verify the new TIPM.

    Mine's doing the same thing now the battery light came on for a couple of days But I had a brand new battery in it. But another one, seemed to do the trick for a little bit, But now it loses power when you're driving and and the lights are coming back on. Seen somebody say TIPM is the problem, Going to look into that, this van should have multiple recalls that the dealerships should take care of. Just took care of my bushing problems and it also has the transmission issue. I'm done with Chrysler Ford and Chevy at this point it's going to be Honda, Toyota ect. From here on out.

      Honda and Toyota have issues too, you’ll just spend more for the parts

      I know I'm late with this post, but If your battery light is on while driving then u have alternator problem. It's not charging the battery while the vehicle is running. Or your belt came off.

      It is incredibly frustrating! Hang in there. I responded to your other comment also but ultimately it was the tipm which is a known failure for Chrysler. They should have recalled it imo.

      Yep. Only real issue I can find with the town and countrys (and the duranos/ grand cherokees) is the TIPM... at least it seems easy to DIY fix

    • @MSMAdventures
      @MSMAdventures  Před 5 lety +2

      It's frustrating that this known issue is not being resolved by Chrysler.

      Unfortunately it may be the tipm (totally integrated power module) like so many others like me:(

    You’re all on here asking how! I’ve been towed three times
    Because of what is going on and I did buy it used. But why can’t a dealer fix the problem? Because the have not shared the issue hoping we would all fix it ourselves

    My 2012 jeep grand cherokee v6 dose the same thing runs fine, then I stop for gas or something doesn't start same issue.. wait about 4 hours starts right up, I recently replaced the alternator was working ok for 2 months then my starter went completely out spinning but not catching the fly wheel
    I'm almost done putting the new starter in.. ill keep updates....
    Also checked fuses and wires. The battery is good, replaced key battery, cleaned out throttle body..will see if anything changes
    I will never buy a Jeep, Chrysler vehicle ever again I was warned about buying that jeep cherokee.. worse car I've ever owned is at about 125,000. Miles now.
