Sounds like a feature that is geographically dependent. Living up in the colder nother climate i have never seen an Attic fan installed. It seems like a good way to freeze in winter lol.
Where are you from?
I agree. It makes no sense in the northeast nor the northwest...
I’m from Wisconsin and have never seen thsi
Misleading. There are different ventilation systems and adding an attic fan can disrupt already installed passive systems. If you have a properly working ridge vent and then add a fan you bypass and mess up the passive flow.
@@boydjohnson5081came to comments to say this, thank you. Ridge vents shouldn’t be combined with attic fans
But what if my home doesn't have an attic
We make special roof mount whole house fans just for that application.
Attic fans cool the attic, House fan cools the house. They are both located in the same location.
Yes, but they serve two different purposes. Daytime ventilation coverage for the attic fan and nighttime cooling and ventilation for the whole house fan.
This is a bad idea, attic fans can put suction on your conditioned spaces, sucking the a/c that you paid for right out of your home through all the can lights, and ceiling fixtures. I use to think it was a good idea but not necessarily a wise decision. Better to install a radiant barrier, or roof insulation.
That’s a false statement. Why would you run a whole house fan if your home was cooled off with conditioned air? You only run it when it’s cooler outside than inside meaning when your house is hot.
@@qcmanufacturing I think you misunderstood the question, just like the tag line of the short! You wouldn't run a *whole house fan* at the same time as the air conditioner. He was talking about running the *attic fan* at the same time as the air conditioner. You would typically do that during the hot of the day. I have the same concern, but I guess you should insulate the fixture openings better or lower the power on the fan?
@pipsplay sorry about, yes you’re correct!!!
