  • Really easy, only need a flathead screwdriver and a small piece of thin cord or string. Don't use anything too thin as it may cut into the silicone. My curious kids did not realize that pulling the air vent out makes their great water bottle leak like a sieve!

The Frozen sound track going in the background is priceless as you fix their water bottle. Thank you!

Thanks for sharing, I’d pulled the rubber plug out but couldn’t put it back to save myself. Your video was a life saver. Didn’t realise how much muck would be found under the plastic tab, so nice to have peace of mind that it’s now clean (and can be kept clean!!)

Thank you so much. Such a life saver. Pulled it off while cleaning it and now I know I can pop that hard piece off and just clean it that way

I put to much water in my bottle then froze it then later in the day realized that part pooped off when it started dribbling down my shirt. Easy fix thanks...now i just have to get some string :D

David Good, thanks for the comment! A bit of string, some pocket lint, a little pen knife and an open mind will set a person up to tackle many of life's challenges.

Aha! My problem is I didn't even know I was missing that piece. is it even possible to get a replacement of that little valve?

I can’t get the part that first part that flips up and down off. I am guessing that the bottle in the video has been taken apart before because mine is much more resistant to coming off.

Wondering if there’s a way to take out the ring rubber under the lid to wash?

This flap that the lady takes off should be taken off every single time the child drinks out of it and cleaned. My grandchildren were drinking chocolate milk out of it and the chocolate milk gets sucked up through the vent and then pulls up under that flap and turns rotten and slimy. Imagine what I found when I took it apart to clean. It was disgusting and CamelBak should warn people to take that out every single time this is used! They only tell you to take out the rubber mouthpiece to clean. But it is imperative to take that flap off. I can't even imagine how many children are ingesting moldy rotten fluids.

We don't let anything but clean water go in water bottles, as long as they are washed and dry out completely overnight most days, they don't get too gross.

Is it this type of water bottle? Maybe this is a silly question, but are you biting halfway down on the spout as you suck? If you twist the lid open a bit to break the seal, then try, does it work? If it works when the bottle is NOT sealed up tight, then your valve is probably sticky, so dissassembling it as described in the video, then washing in hot soapy water with a brush, then reassembling should help. Maybe do all your washing inside a colander so any little parts dont go down the drain!
