- This video will show you what a tough little tent the starlight 2 is, I hope you find it useful for understanding what things to look for in a tent sit back relax and enjoy this video,
Camping in heavy rain can be a unique and exhilarating experience, especially when done on the side of a mountain like High Pike in the Lake District.
The Robens Starlight 2 is a great tent for this type of adventure, as it is designed to withstand inclement weather and high winds so it will keep you dry.
One of the best things about camping in heavy rain is the sense of accomplishment you feel when you successfully weather the storm. Setting up your tent in the pouring rain, staying dry and warm inside your shelter is a true test of your camping skills and determination. It's a great way to push yourself out of your comfort zone and try something new.
The Robens Starlight 2 is a three-season tent, which means it is designed for use in spring, summer, and Autumn. It features a durable and waterproof flysheet, a breathable inner tent, and a sewn-in groundsheet to keep you dry and comfortable. The tent is also easy to pitch, with color-coded poles and a simple pole-sleeve system that makes setup a breeze, even in the rain.
Additionally, the Starlight 2 features a porch area that can be used for gear storage or as a cooking area, making it ideal for camping in heavy rain. The porch area also provides a great spot to watch the storm as it rolls in, and with the vents open, you'll be able to enjoy the sound of rain on the flysheet.
It's important to be prepared for camping in heavy rain, so make sure you have the proper gear such as a waterproof and breathable sleeping bag and pad, and pack rain gear for yourself and your gear. It's also important to be aware of potential hazards such as flash flooding and landslides, and have a plan in case of emergency.

Hi. I was up on the Mendips in Somerset last night in Storm Garrit, in My Starlight 1. Really great tent. Wind speeds up to 50mph, driving rain, no problems. No condensation or leaks, and it never budged.
All the best.👍🏾🇬🇧⛺️💨
Im so chuffed with it, the build quality is the perfect balance of tough and light,
Thanks for watching

Robens tents are very underrated, in my opinion. I’ve got a Challenger 2, same material and weight as the Starlight. Really strong and like yours, never had a drop of water or condensation in it. And it cost me less than 130 quid.
People tend to ignore them because the weight, and not the toughness
Thanks for watching

Nice vid brucey tent held up well makes me want even more to get out for a decent wild camp!
Good on you for getting out & dealing with the elements. That was a true test for that tent. Thanks for putting together & sharing!
👍👍👍
Great to see how that tent held up. A wet and muddy outing, really great views... 👍
👍
This tent really did take a battering, so glad that it held up to it, and kept you dry. You are still a nutter though! 💜
"So that's Carlisle, with Scotland just behind it...probably". That made me chuckle.
Rough night but the tent seemed to hold up well, like you headroom is important and the only downside to a lot of tents now I'm not as able to chew my toenails as easily with age.
it was roughly north , so Skotlnd wit probably be there somewhere 🤣
yup, any tent under 1m headroom is a deal breaker, very impressed whit how the robens did

Good test in those conditions, as you say a tough little tent.
Thanks Mike
That tent took a BEATING, love the low tie out point's, I'm wondering if the Berghaus could be modified to do the same.
Cracking vid as always mate, 😃👍 keep up the good work
Cheers , and happy birthday dude

@@WildGingerBruce fank u 😘
I thought that was someone staring at you from the rafters in the bothy. ?Tent looks solid, I love being in a tent nice and cosy when its lashing with rain outside. Pity we missed the slip! lol.
sorry I will plan slipping over better next time

Looked damp! Just got one of these tents as I'd heard they performed well in high winds. Seems they were right. 50mph gusts is about as much as I'd want to experience I reckon.
Yeah anything over 50mph is a bit irresponsible out on the hills, if you know its coming, but funnelling in gullies can also get a bit *code brown*
Hope you get on well with the robens.... Subbed btw

The land looks like a lot of hills I bet finding flat ground is a challenge.
Yes, deffo
Finding flat ground that's sheltered from the wind too. Well worth being fussy with a camp spot,

Do you use a footprint for this tent? Just bought one and can’t find footprint anywhere
no, im just careful where i set up , but the base is pretty tough , footprints are just more weight to carry
atb Bruce
Ive had one of these tents for a few years and I simply boiught a 'generic' footprint from the internet which serves me fine.
