  • Hey guys! I feel like this video is long overdue, but here it is. This is the second path you can take to get into vet school if your plan A didn't work. You simply study a year of BSc and reapply to continue with second year of vet school. I hope you guys enjoy!

    I also got into vet school via the BSC route. I did a BSC in animal science (Hons) degree while doing that I re-applied to vet schoo again and got admission at the University of Namibia's school of veterinary medicine 😊🐾 .

    Hi there. Thank you so much for your video's, they really are so motivating. Please may I ask. I am working full time and would love to study Veterinary Science, but can't leave a full time job and income. Would it be possible to be a full time student and work part time ? Are the classes the whole day? Can you still peruse this career path if you didnt have physics in school? If I decided to go the Bachelor's degree route. Would I have to do the three years and then start the six year's all over again. The reason why I am asking is - the Bachelor's is at least part time and distant learning at Unisa. Could I complete the three year's and then do the remaining time at vet school or not really ? Thank you so much. Kind regards.

    • @vetlifeza6688
      @vetlifeza6688  Před rokem +1

      Hey! It is possible to work and study, several students do that, including me, which is why I have been absent from the channel for a while, it gets hectic 😂 classes are only from 08:00-13:00, with occasional practicals until 16:00 in the afternoon, so I usually work after that. Unfortunately, physics is a prerequisite for vet science, as well as for BSc at UP (I'm not sure if it's different at UNISA). If you do BSc first, you either have to restart with 1st year of vet school if you didn't have all the modules that 1st year vets have, or if you did have all those modules, you get to just continue with second year of vet school, but you can't skip more than 1st year of vet school by doing BSc. You can get credits for any modules that you did during later years of BSc if they come up again during vet school though. I hope this could help a bit 😊

      Hey! You can apply for vet at any point, even when studying another degree 😊 and you can get credits for any modules that you completed that are similar to modules that vet students do, but the details would need to be discussed with the university. If you can get credits for all the first year modules, you can continue with second year, but if you miss any first year modules they will need to be completed first, I hope this helps!

      Hey! Things like vet and vet nursing take more time for them to process all the applications since it's more complicated than BSc's first come first serve, so it's normal to get BSc results first and vet or vet nurse later. If you got in, it will tell you that your application was successful and after a few days you will also get an email with your acceptance letter, if not it will just say application unsuccessful.
      Good luck! I hope it goes well 😁

    One more question is it possible that a student with a diploma in animal health can apply for vet school or would I need a BSc to apply for vet school, also for specialization can a student do all specializations to be an all animal veterinarian or do you have to choose a specialization let’s say that you want to be a wildlife vet or a reptile vet or a small animal vet. For me I would to like try and do the impossible and be an all animal vet. Lol if there is a course where you have to choose a specific animal can you do that??
    All animal vet is for me as I love all animals from dolphins to whales, to equine ( horses, donkeys,zebras) and cats and dogs, reptiles to Invertebrates avian, etc. hence why I say all animal vet.

    • @vetlifeza6688
      @vetlifeza6688  Před rokem

      Hey! You do not need any qualifications other than a high school diploma to get into vet school, in this video I list the minimum requirements (czcams.com/video/MbNoEvqmqUM/video.html)
      When you study your basic BVSc, you qualify to work with pretty much all animals, focussing on small animals, horses, pigs, poultry, ruminants and some wildlife. After that you can do as many extra courses and specialisations as you want, nothing stops you for furthering your studies at any point, it's actually encouraged 😊 there are also opportunities for the students on campus to further their knowledge in the different veterinary fields, like the OP Exotics club and the Wildlife group
