    Good video, as always. Like all of these boxes, the manufacturer couldn’t be bothered to curate content and only install what would actually work.

      Well said! They are selling themselves short by adding broken emulators or games that won't work. If they didn't add Dreamcast and PSP to this device my opinion would be instantly higher.

    The Display will show up with the time and other stuff only in android O/S mode . Looks like its just a HK1 Box with a different top to me. Best setting Emuelec to run at 720p for everything and you gain a little extra performance.

    These Chinese 'Monster Consoles' totally screwed up the TV box market. You could easily get a pretty decent one around $20 in 2019-2020 but now they cost twice or thrice as much & the worst thing is they are swapping out the good chips with older ones. It has become almost impossible to find an Amlogic or any decent Cortex A53 or A55 based chips as advertised, most are swapped out with an older Cortex A7 based chips & are selling those Amlogic chips at a premium.

    The company added games they knew would run like garbage, and still sent it out for review to bait some sales...
    I can just picture them watching the video and being like "Oh...no no no...don't play that game! Try a NES game or something! ... Augh, he's selecting _another_ heavy 3D system, noooooooo"

    If its cheap enough it would
    be fine for a Mame type mini barcade project maybe, I never expect too much from these android recycled units, i'd just recommend people recycle their old laptop etc. for a sinilar cheaper experience - all depending if size is an issue lol.
    Nice share again, cheers👋

      Yeah, if someone was looking to make a barcade device for some mame, camp om cps 1,2 and 3, this would be fine. But anything newer than PlayStation is going to be troublesome.

    For what you'll now pay for one of these awful Chinese boxes, you can pick up a way more powerful used mini PC. I recently got a HP 705 G4 mini with a Ryzen 3 2200GE and it it's amazing in the living room with the latest Batocera. And it was only £85.

    Most Android Boxes have trouble play Atomiswave,Naomi and Dreamcast they are all pretty much the same console even though Naomi is more powerful. If these Android Boxes can't really handle Sega Dreamcast then they need to remove PSP and only keep a few N64 games that can play no use having games and systems that can't play on an Android Box.

    Ok. Another bog standard, Android TV box from the mainland 🇨🇳

    Unfortunately, the SoC Amlogic S905X4 is a little bit underpowered. S922x despite being older (older than the X4 version of S905 but not the original architecture) is way more capable.

    • @JustPeasant
      @JustPeasant Před rokem +1

      All Amlogic chips are old and underpowered. Even S922X cannot run PSP & Dreamcast/Naomi titles correctly. What's worse S922X devices are more than double the MSRP of S905X4 or X3, so there's hardly any incentive to justify the purchase of the TV box with the aforementioned chip.

    • @Dreddtube
      @Dreddtube Před rokem +2

      @@JustPeasant That's true but unfortunately, that's the most supported manufacturer. The real problem is indeed the absurd MSRP of anything else than s905x. If someone does not need to plays PSP And Dreamcast, a cheap box is OK but in no way you should call your device a retro "MONSTER".

      @@RetroCore Yeah. For emulation, I simply use a PI 4. Most mileage for my dollar, in my opinion. I have a "gaming" PC as well ..and that really gets me some emulation if I choose. Though, in all honesty, I don't consider myself a collector, but I have most older systems and a CRT. I just have the stuff for when there is something I want to play. Collecting is expensive and there isn't any end to the cost. My newest system is the Series X...because of it's technical superiority. You can't buy a computer that cheaply that performs that well. That and Game pass is a bargain. I imagine it's a tad different in Japan, though.

    • @RetroCore
      @RetroCore  Před rokem +1

      A Raspberry Pi 4B is what I use myself for the Tate Arcade system I put together. It may not play everything perfectly but it does a good job at most of the stuff I want to try.
      Idealy a mini PC would be better for those games that require a. Little more grunt but for something that fits in the palm of my hand, the Pi 4B is fantastic.

    • @RetroCore
      @RetroCore  Před rokem +1

      The series X is still a great deal here. Beleive it or not but PC's are not cheap in Japan. I guess because most stuff is imported.
      I mean, you can buy older PC's relatively cheap but trying to build a gaming PC will cost a fortune.

    From what I've seen so far.. if you want to emulate up to ps1 and a few N64 titles this is fine.. but if you want to emulate N64 and up anywhere from okay to flawless you need a least a mini pc/pc to make that happen.. as long as these android shit boxes keep using that awful s905 chipset.. this will continue to be a bumpy ride.
