Call On Me - reloaded- Chicago- 1974

- A very rare Chicago footage, the 1974's song Call On Me performed live at the Caribou Ranch, from TV special "Meanwhile back at the ranch", aired on August 16, 1974, with the original members and Laudir de Oliveira, former Brazilian percussionist. The Caribou Ranch is the old studio founded by James William Guercio, their former producer, where they recorded five of their first eleven albums, and which control room had been burned in March, 1985, not being ever reactivated. Such a rarity!
When greatest bands of all time are talked of..Chicago is never in the conversation. What a shame.
I agree 100%
Chicago's songs are on my playlist. I read the comments so that I know I'm not the only Chicago fan on the planet.
I dont know about anyone else but the 70's were some good times. Good memories. Good music.
This is what music sounds like. What a fantastic band. This is how music is supposed to be. Not the shit what we have to listen to these days.
You’re right about that!!!!
Exactly.
Totally agree
nothing screams 70's louder than those arrangements.genius.
The “real” Chicago! Killer song from Lee; Danny & Laudir- pure magic!!
Pure chicago
I'm 32 and i just got to say that the music from the 60s thru the late 70s was truly the best. How i wish i were there, just born too late 😔
I SO AGREE❣️😢
Man do I wish I was there to listen to such an amazing group who just never skipped a beat. They definitely were one of the best bands of all time. The music they produced was like no other band.
Totally, 👍 Agree!!
I played in a cover band (trombone) during my high school years when this song came out ... we worked sooooo hard to capture this sound ! Later in collage must have done this 4 x a weekend... to this day Chicago still drives my soul !!
Chicago at its finest. Danny's playing here never ceases to blow me away. Ditto for Kath and Cetera.
He was amazing! When I listen to some of his live playing I could swear there were two drummers. He was that fast and spot on
The horn arrangement is awesome and the drumming is beyond belief, there is no weak link - no wonder Buddy Rich said this was his favorite rock band.
Danny Seraphine is a helluva drummer. Too bad that he and Chicago parted company 20+ years ago.
Chicago Band # ONE world band ever ...
Hello how are you doing nice meeting you here dear
The greatest Jazz band ever.
Danny Seraphine - great drummer!
Hell yes
His drumming gives them the Big Band sound!
Bummer he got the bounce, lost the touch overtime.
The bongo man not too shabby either. 😃
Probably one of my favorite Chicago songs.
My favorite song and video. Terry is still there awe so beautiful...Chicago VII favorite album of all time
My favorite 🎷🎷
Chicago VII has always been my favorite album. Love to return to 1974, and be a 19 yr old United States Marine.
@@usmc-veteran73-77 I was a 20 y/o Army guy then
Mine too, Deb.
Nobody but nobody could have replaced Pete. I wish he would have showed up at the hall of fame induction for the fans. You didn't need Paul McCartney to tell you how popular you were, Clive Davis over rode the board of directors of Columbia to let you all know how special you were. Wishing you were here proved how great you were. Some people just can't get out of their own way when it comes to accepting love..................
Wow! Your last sentence is so spot-on. My mother is currently on hospice because she didn't know how to accept love or love herself. And I just happened to call an ex-boyfriend of mine from high school because our mutual friend just died from the injections, and his sister did last year as well. And as I was leaving a message for my ex who I am still on good terms with, asking him to call me, this song was on the radio and it caught my attention of course. Describing exactly what I'm saying and feeling to him on the machine. Then found this version to send him, and saw your comment. And looking back, I realize that my ex in high school also wasn't very good at accepting love and still is not. The inner child wounding and the mother and father wounds are soooooo deep... the blocking and resisting so many good things because of lack of self-worth is rampant
@@jenifernadeau "Just the way you are" by Billy Joel was my mom's favorite song. I'm pretty sure she's singing it to my dad in heaven right now!!!..............There is still time for your x.....
I agree… would’ve loved to have seen TK as well :(
Pete died?
Terry was the heart and soul of CHICAGO! After he died they never were the same!
This band was so damn tight, so impressive in its abilities, that's it just staggering to watch and listen -- even 35 years later. I wasn't even around when this concert took place, but I've been alive for all the pre-packaged slop that's out on the circuit now and in recent years. These guys here simply brought their instruments, voices, and passion -- and kicked ass. No lip sync crap. No recorded background music blaring out. No special effects. It's all real and right there. Amazing.
True!!!!
This song has a breezy feeling that perfectly fits the high altitude, mountain beauty of this outdoor concert. I miss the 70s TV musical specials they’d show every now and then. Sometimes, they’d be super corny, but still interspersed with some amazing musical moments. Heck, even the variety shows and lip synced “jukebox” shows were awesome. The Midnight Special. Rockpalast. Modern TV is sorely missing this genre.
Same here. Miss that era.and the feelings it evokes
Hot summer Chicago nights mid-70s....listening to the radio with all the kids from the neighborhood, great times...then you turn 18, graduate and life kicks you in the nuts....
Earth wind and fire and Chicago are my favorites love the horn section
Right on
@@PowerGearPerformance
Saw them together. Both bands were hot 🔥🔥
@@butterflylovenj7300 *Beautiful Butterfly!* 😁🥂
Dont forget Tower of Power and Blood Sweat and Tears
You must add Tower of Power horn section there on that list my good sir and we are full ;)
One of the greatest bannd's for sure! Love Peter Cetera
Man, Peter Cetera can sing! He's so underrated, he's perhaps one of the very best tenors in rock and roll, and a damn fine bass player.
In his prime, the best tenor/bass player, along with Geddy Lee of Rush.
Take off. Eh?
Bobby still has my heart.
Don't think he's underrated buddy. He had a phenomianl solo career!
I always thought Peter handled the alto, Bobby tenor, and Terry the baritone voices
We just lost my brother suddenly and I have been playing Chicago for days. When I was a kid my brother loved them and told me they were the happening band. From that grew a lifelong love of Chicago, have seen them twice in concert and have all their music. This was his favorite song. The other day in the car as soon as I got in, Chicago came on. I hope he is happy now and knows I love him. R.I.P. Terry, hope to see you on the other side. Kate #8
Rest in peace, Laudir de Oliveira. You added so much to Chicago's music in the mid 70s up through 1981.
Second your sentiment, and yes he did.
😭No lo sabía 😢
Just reading this now but I could not agree more & this is my favorite Chicago song . Thank you Lee Loughnane
RIP to a great musician!!!
Agreed!!!!
Beautiful, just beautiful..
Chicago band is like a big orchestra awesome.
That was what I thought when I first heard them. Lol Then I saw them and was amazed.
The TIGHTEST horn section ever!!!! Just none better.
If I " can only go back in time"... Beautiful Memories!!!!
How in HELL could someone DISLIKE this video?! Jeez.
IF YOU DONT LIKE THIS VIDEO, YOU AINT WHITE. LOL
WS NONE Come on, man! It’s badass.

They just hatin.
I never underated Chicago. Terry, et all made magic. Nothing less.
Such a wonderful mix of jazz, R&B & rock from these guys. I love Chicago!!
I love this song, I love this band, this is a wonderful time capsule of them at their peak. Thank You for posting this.
You’re right about that!!!!
I've been listening to this band since I was twelve now I'm 22 years old and still love them.
Wait till your 55-65, see what it feels like to be able to to remember that time of your life.God willing you will be around.im 67 and lived thru the era when they came out.much love
Could Peter have been any cuter? Just adorable and a perfect voice to match.
Some of Danny's finest drumming in this video "Call on Me"
his voice just speaks to my ....SOUL......
🎶💋🎵
When Terry Kath died and Pete cetera left a big change witht the band. To many external people telling them what is best that didn't know sht. The drummer and the horn sections are one of the best I ever heard. Excellent.
dont forget robert Lamm
Go Danny!!!
Mike Marino you're right
No solo screen time for Terry either on this video? He deserved much better.
Great Song! Real Instruments Real Voices Real Music.🎹🎸🥁🎺🎷🎤 A Real Concert. ❤CHICAGO 👍❤✌🇺🇸
Love the beat of the conga on this one. Viva Chicago!
I was born too late to see Chicago when they shot this video! I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THEM! ❤ 😍 🎵
Hello how are you doing nice meeting you here dear
Such a beautiful, magnificent song!!....Wonderful, love it!!!
Peter is outstanding
this song makes my days EVERY DAY!!!
I still remember it was my mom who turned me on to Chicago when I was a kid in the 70's.She had every album. No wonder I still love this group.Amazing timing and musicianship.
He has the best voice. Peter looks so dang cute! !!!
Best band I went to see them with my girlfriend back in the day They still rock
Fantastic! I can't get enough of this band...
I know Right!!!!!
Will forever be totally in love with Chicago!!!!!
Hello beautiful I’m glad you love it how are you doing nice meeting you here
Man, Chicago hasn't been that great since Cetera left the group. Love this!
I've watched their 1999 Behind The Music and their blu ray of Now More Than Ever Documentary of Chicago, Peter Cetera refused to be interviewed for each of those
Agree, once Terry Kath died in 1978, it wasn't the same afterwards, even when Peter Cetera left the band in 1985
Peter my favorite singer of all time. Loved Kath and Lamm vocals too. Amazing all 3 in one band! Those bongos add a really nice touch to this song. Heard it without them too but this song just sounds so much better with em in my opinion.
Call on me is definitely one of my faves. Too many to list. Yes. TIGHT. great song CTA. ❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️
Chicago uno de mis grupos favoritos, me recuerdan mi época en la secundaria, amo esos hermosos recuerdos de los años 70's 😂
Drums, Bass, Brass, Vocals, Guitar, the whole thing🧞Perfection
I saw them last night. They played this. They are still wicked good!
OMG !!! This song is my fave. Luv AAAALLLLL versions of it !
Me too, favorite song of all time. especially this seening them play it. I always play it at least 4 or 5 times when i get it going "whoa whoa whoa... "you know it.
This song makes me feel soo good and happy!
my fav Chicago song
So good 👍I'm here for the drums today and sadly I'm reminded of how TV directors just refuse to show drums.
At the very beginning of the video is a picture I took of the sign at the entrance of the Caribou Ranch. August 1974. How this got on CZcams I have no idea.
I remember watching this on the tube back in the day. The fire side Happy Man was cool also. 😍
His Voice speaks to my SOUL............
Never get tired of this. What a great song!
So bittersweet seeing Terry Kath young and alive.
Ahh can’t you just feel the sun on your face listening to this⁉️
Musically, one of Chicago's best songs, especially that instrumental run from 2:00 to 2:35.
Agreed!!!!
Agreed!
They were in the zone right there
@@MykeFord950 You’re Right about that!!!
That Conga/Drum jam@ 3:27 was also 🔥
Love this Song & Video. Peter is such a boss! Love that shirt!
Excelente Rola
Such a great song and performance. One thing I noticed.....I had that exact shirt Peter Cetera is wearing when I was a teen back in the mid 70s. Slightly larger collar...that was the style back then. I remember it cause it was my favorite shirt and the chicks liked it!
That horn section is no joke!
Still my favorite song and album of all time 5th time playing it, had to be there in that time and space, so cool...
Chicago was such a great band in the 1970s, but nothing lasts forever.
+Robert G., time is the old nemesis.
+sandinyourshoes And it's unbeatable.
Robert G., goodness, yes. There is no way to fight it.
+sandinyourshoes Botox, facelifts, tummy tucks, hair transplants ... in time all fail, except CZcams. Watching this, I'm 22 again!
Robert G., what counts is feeling one's youthful qualities by not having such "old thinking."
Great! Thanks brings me back. Can't understand why Chicago is NOT in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame
Because the rock and roll hall of fame is not about music, it's about money. always has been.
Must have been great playing outside and listening to Chicago great job🏘🏕
Love this song!
Watched this as a kid, summer '74 as a special on which network I don't remember.
ABC
August 16, 1974, I had just arrived at Camp Foster Okinawa with the United States Marine Corps. We only had one English speaking TV station, that was ran and operated by Armed Forces Radio & TV network. Looks like it was a great concert.
Date Elvis died, '77
This song is very relaxing 🤩
One of my very favorite bands of all time.
amazing and sooooooo beautiful song! love it!
Great band live...
great music, top of the line
Always a great song...this version is awesome...
5 decades and counting love my band!!!
Great music & memories of life, absolutely beautiful masterpiece, gold standard of excellence for 50 years, one of best bands of all time, phenomenal sound, very special music, premium gas, priceless music & video
Loved u guys!!! One of my fav bands back in the 70's , still are now !!
50 years ago! Unreal!
I will love to start such a similar sound today !
frigging amazing I'm just blown away by that performance!
This sounds LIVE. Thanks for not messing with audio 😍
Danny is wearing his Schaumburg, Illinois nightclub T-Shirt - B'ginnings. How cool is that? Awesome band. One of the greatest.
chicago was one of the all time greats
I have the full score for this and on paper it's crazy. The notes that Lee hits are remarkable. On paper the highest one is an F which I haven't been able to hit. In this video he hits notes even higher at the end. Really makes me appreciate it more to see it written.
+Jacob Mullin Sure woould be nice to see that arrangement on paper, especially that badass horn chart.
+eric2181965 The score is available on sheet music websites
Mega
It's an F sharp. With the right mouthpiece you should be able to at least hit a high G right above that.
Saludos desde monterrey mexico
Love the horns and bongo drums in this song! Saw them in June and they are still amazing after all these years!
Wow - that is some phenomenal playing.
Genius!!! Best music ever !!!!!! Lovin those BONGOS
I just cant say enough about this video the boys play the hell oit of this song! absolutely flawless! You cant get any better than this!
My favorite Chicago song! I had my Fender Rhodes piano redone in White like the one in the vid back I’m the day!
Great Song!🎵😎60s 70s 80s and early 90s music is cool. I enjoy all kinds of music. Real Music, Real Instruments, Real Voices 🎹🎤🎻🎺📯 Awesome Band.✌🇺🇸
these guys are the best!!! really loved their stuff
Yes! This is one of my fav songs from Chicago. That Latin touch to this song is so great! You just don't get the musicianship like this today. :-(
