Bullshit! lol. Nobody hates the Russian people! lol. Anybody, out there, who might claim to, just like anybody who claims to hate the citizenry of any country, is clearly simple-minded. The only thing that anybody, of any sense, has a problem with, regarding Russia, is the twisted policies set, pushed, and enforced by Vladimir Putin's administration.

I'm from India. Thanks for the video. I studied medicine in Russia for 6 years. These are the words I would use in my opinion (similar to how you expressed it in the video). I met & interacted with a lot of people in Russia. Grandma's & grandpa's in Russia are very kind hearted and generous people. This is one example I would like to mention. I stayed in the dormitory for the first few years of my undergraduate studies. There is a laundry service where one of the granny's works. She used to bring food for me sometimes because I looked lean. She used to give handwritten postcards during festival days. She gave me chocolate & a written postcard for my birthday. In my senior years, I moved into an apartment. Even though I hadn't seen her for a year, when it was my birthday, she sent me a lovely birthday card with chocolate (she passed it on to the hostel warden to give to me). Russians are hard-working people. Russians love their work & respect it & they do it with perfection. We can learn a lot from Russia (as humans). Sadly politics & the media made Russia look the way it does now. By the way, aside from politics, Russia is great. We should accept it.

He absolutely did not speak Russian, but we liked him as a person and we invited him to continue celebrating the new year at our apartment. We were surprised when he agreed to go with strangers to continue having fun. On the afternoon of January 1, he told us that it was his best New year.

The US you see on TV is not based on reality. I kind of had fun shocking Russians with American horror stories haha.
And I get it. I had certain ideas about what New York City would be like from news and TV shows. When I got there it was smelly, with garbage piled as high as 3 people at night for trucks to pick up just stacked on the streets in no containers. The subways, while the best in the US, are falling apart, neglected and look apocalyptic at some stations. I grew up in the country so I thought I was going to see "civilization" when I went to work there haha.
I knew a bit about Russian history and that was my main reason for visiting plus the plane ticket was cheaper than Europe and I could finally afford a vacation. I didn't really know much about modern Russia so I'd assume I'd find the same crap I hated here but was pleasantly surprised.

If you had lived in Moscow during five years, leaving every day from 9 am to 5 pm, you still wouldn't have had time to get to know all the good things this wonderful city has to offer.
Russia is ancient, has a vast culture, history, literature, theater, cinema, dance - all of the highest quality - the cream of the cream (la crème de la crème)... and besides, the city of Moscow has forty percent of green areas.
I've been to Russia seven times, I speak some Russian and study Russian regularly (in addition to speaking other languages such as Portuguese, English, French, Spanish, Italian and a little German), I travel a lot around the world, so I can assure you that Russia is really an amazing country, as well as the Russian people - a people who have a welcoming soul...

I love China but my heart is in Russia. It is amazing to see the most modern cleanest cities on earth in China it is very good for the peace of the world and quality of life all over the world with the trade and great bond between these countries and BRICS, SCO, and BRI. It is a new multipolar world now. I have been to China every 5-6 years and it is amazing how far it progresses in each of those 5-year spans. As you said, people are pretty much the same around the world in terms of being human and generally wanting to get along. Entering the world of politics or government anywhere in the world things often go sideways and there are criminal elements in many places of the world that should be avoided. I have become disappointed with the US government and propaganda we are being fed by our media and politicians who seem mainly interested in u.s. hegemony and domination as far as it can reach. I grew up in Rissia, got my bachelor in Asia, and moved to Canada 🇨🇦
One of my biggest reasons to live in Canada was the low crime rates. I grew up during the 90s, and it was a really difficult time. Watching how much Russia improved through the years makes me very proud.
It has been devastating to watch how Canada deteriorated through the past 10-15 years. Toronto from one of the safest cities turned into a place where i don't want to turn on the news because there is yet another random TTC stabbing.
The sadest part is to talk to canadians who have never traveled abroad. They have been brainwashed to think that Canada is a first world country and everywhere else is a shit hole. They don't see how other nations pull themself out of nothing in a span of 30 years (Russia, China), and everything around canadians are degenerating. They don't hold their politicians accountable and really trust the government.
I don't even want to start on what they think about the Russia Ukraine conflict.

I'm from Russia. It is very nice to hear good things about my country. We always welcome kind and honest people, regardless of where they come from. And by the way, about the climate in Moscow, Russia is a huge country and we have sunnier and warmer cities. For example, I live in the city of Sochi, it is the winter Olympic capital of 2014, a seaside and ski resort at the same time, the most popular resort in Russia, palm trees grow in the city itself and it is subtropical, +10-15 ° C in winter and quite a lot of sun. Be sure to visit whenever possible. There is also, of course, Crimea and some other cities on the Black Sea coast. There is sunny Krasnodar. If you are not tied to a specific place of work and can work remotely, then here are your options. Well, again, I just want to destroy the stereotype of an eternally cold Russia, yes, this is largely true, but not everything is so unambiguous!

Rachel, Thank you for your even treatment of Russia and Russians. I too am a native of Texasand I am envious (a bit) of you being there. For all the haters out there I would like to remind them of a "few facts" When we were fighting the "Red Coats" i.e. Englnd for our freedom...Russia was on our side and supported us....then in the "War of 1812" again fighting the British...AGAIN Russia assisted US...in the Civil War (you know the one where both Englan and France were hoping the US would fail and they could grab some land) Russia supported the North resulting in WE the US surviving...Oh and in WWI Russia was on OUR side. towards the end of WWI the Russian's had go home to fight the BLOODY BOLSHEVIK'S who were intent on gaingi control of Russia. BTW: Lenin and Trotskyhad both been outside of Russia WhereYou Ask!! one was in New York the other in England and this merry band went across WWI w/ a bunch of Gold to fund their revolution....then WWII NOW this was the Soviet's on our side against the AXIS Powers....Russia lost OVER 20 MILLION Soldiers and Civilians in that conflict....kinda makes the 6million (we are constantly beat up with) pale in comparison. yes yes yes that too is bad lets just apply our emotions fairly. THANK GOD Russia threw off the Commie B******RDS and they are free of that EVIL Scourge. BTW we Americans lost ~450,00 in WWII vs.20 MILLION+ hmmm!!! Russia and Russians ARE NOT our Enemies Rachel, Thank You Again!!

So the children of one great Khan Kubrat split up, some went to the west and founded Bulgaria, while others stayed in the Volga region and founded Volga Bulgaria. They went on different paths, some have Christianity, others have Islam. So, the current ancestors of the Volga Bulgars are Kazan Tatars. Just for the record)

I'm from Russia but I've been living in Spain for a few years now, in February I visited my family and friends in Moscow. I was very surprised by the fact that at the disco in the center of Moscow we met two Foreigners and one of them was from the USA from Los Angeles and the other was from the UK from London. The first my question was what are you doing here why are you here I honestly could not understand and they answered me that they have been living here for 05 and 10 years respectively and they really like it in Russia! They're not going anywhere and all our conversation was about how it was so, that is, I honestly could not understand why they, even in this situation, are still in Russia, I was very surprised and I realized that many foreigners in Russia are still a lot and many like it, many already have families, friends, work and they are not going anywhere to return, at least until they all like it. I was pleasantly surprised. Then that night we met a Mexican guy and he also repeated many times "amo Moscú" 😂 nice experience. The place was “Pfrofsoyuz”, metro Novoslobodskaya, 10/10!

Funny you mention on the familiar spices.....I live in Moscow as an Irishman and frankly, I like nothing more than heading to the local globus supermarket and trying out the myriad of spices and seasonings available on the shelves. OK, granted, my Russian reading skills are still that of a 10 year old, but as you said, translator apps can be very handy. I have conjured many an interesting dish already..........One of my recent favorite discoveries was in the dried fruit section. Russians have amazing cold drinks such as Kvors,(made from bread), Mors (from Berries) and my fav, Compote, which is basically from a random selection of dried fruits. They sell a large package of these dried fruits that you buy and boil the hell out of, add sugar and let cool and hey presto, you have this amazing fruity heaven that permanently occupies my fridge. You can make about 4/5 litres from a 500g pack, so its cost effective too. Anyway, thats my spice and fruit story for today. PS. It's melting day today and very slushy.

I have a part of my family in the US and it is so very heartbreaking for me that our governments are no longer friendly to each other, good news are Russians and Americans still do get along very well and i hope no propaganda is able to change that. You are welcome here!

June, July and August were the months my father would take me to Russia back to our grandparents in the North-West for at least 10 years in a row.

Thank you so much for telling us about your experience of Russia. Voices like yours, speaking 'from the inside', from Moscow, are indeed so important when people in all the Western countries are now submerged under layers and layers of the most idiotic and horrendous propaganda about Russia, and the people who live there. I'm personally grateful to women like Eva Bartlett (who btw also lives in Russia now, I think) or Vanessa Beeley, who were reporting from Syria at the time of the horrors of the attempted US/NATO regime change there. They were about the only ones to post images of real life in Syria, of the real Syrians, and most of their reports and interviews showed a very touching reality that was of course totally absent from the Western MSM where everyting concerning Syria was demonized. I consider them simply all part of a crime against journalism and against humanity. Thank you for keeping us posted with real news of real people living in Russia! It is so important, so much more human that the propaganda we get from those media who toe the line. I appreciated your work on RT (and RT's voice among the Western media) for many years before all this craziness happened to us. Let's hope for some change for the better.

I miss you so much! I loved your personal political/economic reports and RT America talk show. Thanks for making this video though - I was wondering how was your life in Moscow and I was happy to learn that it’s pretty much coincided with my opinion. I’m sorry to hear that you’re home seek - no doubt it’s difficult. It will get much easier in a year or so - Moscow’s magic tends to “muscovite” people for life. You have to get Russian friends though, they’ll change your world perspectives by redefining your understanding of friendship entirely - it’s so deep and so profound, that everything else, apart from a family of course- would seem shallow; you’ll never feel lonely again, especially when you’re down and out. I’d love if you can cover Moscow’s re-creational activities. I’ve heard that there was always something happening and something to do and that it’s rather affordable.

Rachel is reminding me of myself. I live in Moscow alone for 5 years already and my parents and big bro are 9 000 km away from me in Russian Far East (8-9 hours flight by plane). I visit them once in a year for a week. So yeah, sometimes it's not easy to live in that way. Also it's a huge responsobility, because you're alone in almost 13 million city. No friends, no family and in my case no working colleagues. Just you, your job and a huge city. Good thing is with modern technologies we still have a connection with everyone. So it's not that bad how it looks. But I found myself in here. So, I wish you good luck Rachel with everything! You're not alone. You have many supporters worldwide. Take care!

@@rivaldealer1826 no, she should find Russian-speaking people, otherwise she will feel alone all the time, because of the separation from the society in which she lives. If she finds English speakers, then she will only communicate with them and remain an "outcast" of society, this is a big mistake for everyone who moves to another country.
I've seen this several times, and as a result, these people went home because they couldnt integrate into society.

By the way, gluten-free products can be bought, for example, in Vkusville stores or ordered with home delivery. In their mobile application there are collections of products "Diabetes nutrition" and "Lactose and gluten-free". My wife is gluten sensitive and mostly buys groceries there. There you can also refund money for groceries if they seemed tasteless to you.
The Moscow winter milky sky has one big plus: almost zero UV index during the day. Many Russians plan vacations in warm countries for this period or work there remotely. But then, when you return to Moscow, the skin literally rests from the scorching sun and ultraviolet.

I'd suggest a winter break holiday about now mid-March, either Dubai or Thailand to get some sun for 10 days. Used to do it as my daughter had severe Vitamin D issues(BTW, get a test to check levels or take vitamin D). In UAE/Dubai we used to go to Fujairah area on Indian Ocean with clean wonderful beaches, the place we picked was Meridien Al Aqah which has excellent watersports center including barracuda fishing. In Thailand Phuket is the place to go go.

Great job, Rachel! Thank you, a surprisingly balanced review of life in Russia and at the same time very respectful! In our country, people really speak English poorly, but this is compensated by modern technologies. In Russia, there is cheap Internet and mobile communication, which is available in almost any small village, so foreigners will have no problems with online translators. And also, what exactly a foreigner needs to know, be ready for this and not perceive it as something bad or disrespectful. Rachel, out of politeness, probably kept silent about the fact that we Russians do not automatically turn on the "friendly smile in all situations and when contacting any person" mode!In our culture, it is customary to first communicate with a person for a while, and depending on what kind of energy you radiate, you will get a response, but it will definitely be sincere, and not a template, like a seller who wants to sell you something unnecessary. 😀 So, friends, welcome, you will definitely not be bored in Russia!😀✌️
