- Fortnite hasn’t done the best job in telling it’s story, and I feel like there is a fun way that they can tell it. I’ve been wanting “Story Mode” for this game for a while now and with the return of Midas, it made me put all my thoughts into this video.

The worst part is, they’ve already tried something like this. Back in chapter 2 season 6 there was a replayable intro that every player that booted up the game for the first time that season experienced. It was completely story driven and explained the story and background for that season and it’s purpose. But since then, a single player story driven experience has NEVER even been thought about again.
Now that you mention it, they never consider making more animations like that. They should try to focus on that at some point.
Fortnite wants to tell a story so bad but is held back by the fact that battle royals aren't really the best game to be story driven.
also, I think I solved the battlepass situation. make the skins exclusive, until the end of the season, and then release all of the characters in their own different bundles that would be worth like 1500 each, that way there's more of an incentive to purchase the battle pass because of the value and money you would be saving.

They could simply just make the battle roayle part not cannon to story or at least the fighting part of it since tenichally the loop should’ve ended in chapter 2 season 8 when the island flipped or definitely when the chapter 3 and 2 island exploded in the fracture event

Remember AMIE? The Scientist’s ai who was oddly obsessed with him and was our main narrator throughout most of chapter 3. We even help make her a body so she could go looking for the scientist. I’m still waiting for that plot line to be continued because I AMIE and the Scientist are my favorite characters.

Thats the thing, the guy who writes the story got fired or left or something, for whatever reason, back around chapter 4, which sucks because they had a good thing going, and then we got a time traveling vampire and we had to heist him…really?

As A Save The World player myself they killed our story we never got updates never got a full story because BR took over. I'm afraid they would do the same thing to a BR story mode with Creative or Lego. All the focus would go into other modes and BR Story mode would end up like STW dead and the occasional season dlcs.

@wdotwreckvideos no he means that the story / event team was massively reduced and the Ceo who wanted to drive the story didn't get too and the more time went on, the less story he got to release, the best he could do was release comics, there was a lot of story planned out and he wanted more events to be there.

He's right. He's said everything I would say, and he said it well. as fun as wiki dives can be at times, having a dedicated story mode rather than needing to go out of our way to find old cutscenes from past seasons that you missed, or even needing to read the comics, having the option in-game would not only help those who want to know more about these characters, but it'd also introduce majority of players to the fact that the game has a story
I joined the Fortnite meta, mid December 2023 and I've felt the same way.
A Fortnite lore story mode would be an amazing way to revisit or experience the old chapters for the first time.
Imagine if players got to play the story as characters from the battle passes, they missed out on.

I hope they have a whole chapter rapping up loose ends from old chapters. Like what happened to the seven, the oathbound, the groups fighting in mega city including triarch nox the herald who just up and vanished. and many more.
The seven was already confirmed in Season 4 Chapter 3, they got kidnapped and made evil by the Chrome
@@JJ-the-Fortnite-guy I played that season, They got killed off in a single cut scene and then there was a whole quest to build AMIE a body, and then we never got anything else related to the characters that were built up for the last 3 chapters. Very cool fortnite

I was about to hate watch this because I hate people complaining about Fortnite because it’s “Fortnite” but DAMB you were absolutely COOKING with these ideas! Keep up the good work!
I honestly think it would be a cool gamemode where for every season, there’s a new campaign. If you completed the older campaigns, you can replay them. This would help so many players feel connected to the story. It doesn’t help that “back in my day” Fortnite would usually have an end of season event every other season. Now it’s reserved for end of chapter. Imagine you, Jonsey, and Hope team up to destroy the Society and get Peely. Then, in a cutscene after the event, Zeus and Ares come to the island, destroying the Society. That would create SO MUCH HYPE while your waiting for the new season.
I think we should get a Fortnite show or interactive game (kind of like a Telltale game) and each episode would be about a unique character that we have yet to have any significant lore on (like Nezumi or Ava) and it would explain who this character actually is. Their reality of origin, what our character does and their abilities, and their story that shapes them into the skin we know in fortnite. The end of each episode will show how each character entered Reality 0 (the battle royale island), via sideways rifts, or through willingly or forcefully going there in some way. I want something different from the battle royale story that should have ended like a year ago...

If they do decide to go in the direction of a story mode they should still do hyped up live events.
I feel like live events would be more hype, because then more people will understand what's happening.
What would truly be a good feature to this “Story Mode” is a terminal type thing where you can look up terms or characters and get everything currently known about them and it’ll update every time you find out more. Most will not know who “X” is, or what they are. The terminal would only update when a certain character talks more about them. Like for example, maybe Evie says something about “X” directing them to an objective to Thunder. It could possibly be canon a character is updating this terminal if this was a thing.

The thing about the story, is that they no longer have the time to develop the characters and make them feel like actual threats. The villains of the stories often end up having their story go "oh look, a new villain with new powers and the fate of the island is at risk. Nevermind they died 2 months later in a quest line."
It got stale after they removed the IO and last reality from the story. The Herold, died in 2 months. Triarch Nox, where did he go? Kado Thorne, Died in 2 months. The society, hunted down by the gods after 3 months.

Dude, I absolutely LOVE how you edit your videos. The in-betweens and references are great. You really do go in depth about how a hypothetical story mode could work and I honestly think that they really should try to do that.
Guys we NEED more people to see this, especially Fortnite themselves! An idea like what he has in mind is perfect for players wanting a special experience. Also just to add on to what he was saying imagine in certain levels they make you play as a certain skin so you can play as multiple different characters in whatever story they tell and maybe.. they could put collab characters in the story mode but that’s a reach.
I agree, a story game mode is what we need. It tends to be on us to help tell the story through films because Epic can't seem to do it themselves. Also Thanks for the little Butter Barn cameo😉😉

I get that they want to sell the battle passes as an exclusive thing, so that way they can still make money and whatnot, but there are genuinely some skins (like meow skulls) that I missed out on getting and want now that I look back on it. And it’s not like this is entirely impossible, they have done this kind of thing before by making sparkle specialist a reward for a tournament. I would pay any amount of v bucks, money or whatever to be able to go back and get rewards from battle passes/seasons I previously participated in. If epic games ever sees this, they at least need to hear you out on this concept because it is a great idea and they can still make money off of it.

Hear me out, every old chapter has a small open world, maybe one open world with combined chapter elements. Each season has 10 mission related to the story that unlock that page in the battlepass with special styles for people who owned those skins and in those missions there are challenges and a base reward, the base reward could be 30k exp, but if you buy the story pass for that season you can do challenges that unlock cosmetics from that tier and after completing challenges you get the skin,
I honestly think fortnite abandoned the overarching story of battle royale to focus on becoming a metaverse kind of thing. Chapter 2 seasons 5 and 6 are where the story peaked and I don’t think we’ll ever get anything even close to it again. After the chapter 5 “reboot” it wouldn’t surprise me if we don’t hear of the seven or the zero point ever again. But one can dream

Season 3 was literally the season X of chapter 3.
What also contributes to the argument for a story mode is the fact that they are called “Seasons” and “Chapters”. would it not make sense to be able to replay these stories? Are you not able to rewatch seasons in a tv show? or reread chapters in a book? the naming structure makes sense, it’s just the way they go about doing it is squandering the potential of a story mode.

They could’ve kept going with the Kado plotline, but nah. They killed him off…”off screen”. I was invested and they just left it like it never happened 😭
They also had a good thing going with Hope and Valeria. I genuinely don’t know who’s good or bad this season. It feel like all the gods are just “there”

This is why Midas reskins sell so well in the shop. Midas was extremely relevant. He had character, a personality and actually did something that directly affected the story.

I agree with everything you said. I was thinking they should add a tab where you can see previous audio logs, live events, etc but your idea is also good.
You could also take this one step further with giving individuals or different groups story missions like the fox clan for example, I would love to see how that group came to be, it would also be cool to know why each member joined and their backstories before they joined and what "thing" is hunting them.

Also I know they stated that old cosmetics don’t return, but maybe have some skins/cosmetics as rewards for completing story aspects (like the Season X quest grants you Scientist or something like that), that way we can both develop connections to characters and play as them instead of having Peely, practically the the mascot of the game, locked behind the CHAPTER 1 SEASON 8 BATTLE PASS

I was just thinking about this, Im a really new fortnite player but I was surprised at how cool I thought the story was,(from watching the incorrect lore videos an having to do my own research) an being a new player I'm never gonna be able to experience the old story parts which stinks I'd love to have a way to replay them!!
Instead of reselling old battlepass stuff, they could easily make a new skin of the same character and make a ton of money. Stuff like the recent Midas skin. Fortnite C2 S2 gave us the most “characters” in its battlepass and there is a reason why it’s battlepass has the most skins with a reskins.
I think the idea is really good, I would love to have a game mode that lets you learn the story of fortnite for newer players, but also for players like me who just want to relive the story
You are right and they do really need to explain what is happening to the story because even I dont know what is going on with the story in which I have been very intrested into
If there was a story mode were you could get old BP skins, they would probably do like you complete the season and you can unlock the skins for high prices, like 2,000 vbucks, the most expensive skins are that price. So, they wouldn’t be free and would keep their high value, but new players have a chance to get them. Idk just an idea
they could do ltms like mini events for example you go under fencing and there's a huge base and you save Peely with Jones and you could have boss fights with the bosses from br ending their story.
I think that Fortnite should add an “offline” mode of sorts. A mode where you can choose chapter and season and either play against bots or play solo where you can do all of the quests. You would be able to toggle things like computer players, the storm, build/zero build, and anything else you can think of. This way, they can have the BR story be the BR story by having people be able to do it in BR, but also have a version of BR where you can do all the quests and story missions without the threat of getting 90s cranked on you and then double pumped. They could also start reselling skins and battle passes, but in order to make the OG fans happy we charge some 5 dollars more for these old battle passes.

what we need is seasonal live events back and story events not the glorified ad we got for chapter 5 and chapter 3's end event was... well youve heard the stories we need stuff like collision and actual story instead of convoluted texts in descriptions of npc's
For how they sell them it could be 950 vbucks per season, allowing for players to essentially buy the battlepasses after their time to mak giving away the skins fairer.
Also, if you already have that battlepass purchased then it would be free to you. Because season 1 had no battlepass it could be free to let players have some free missions as well as to set up later story sections that came out of nowhere
I think a good way to do that is have all the old Live Events and new cutscenes in Live Events all in like a theater mode type thing where you're also able to play through them
To be honest this is a really good idea theres so much potential for story telling. I just hope epic ends up giving us something like this.
I remember a time, long ago, when public matches were called casual and you could do missions and get the story because people was more busy in having fun than trying to compete and kill other people as if they will won the FNCS cup at the end of the match... Good old times in chapter 2.

Chapter 4 had these same mini events, and yes they're cool and connect the seasons, they don't do too much for story telling.

I HEAVILY AGREE!!! We need a story mode! I've been playing since pretty much the beginning of the story, and I still don't know what the f@$% is going on! AND DONT GET ME STARTED ON HOW SOME MAJOR STORY BITS ARE TOLD THROUGH DC AND MARVEL COMIC BOOKS!!! 💀💀 Anyways, while it's fun having a story in the main BR, a lot of it lacks because there's more focus on BR. I miss getting invested in small events in the game that felt worth it to witness. And changing lives events to only happen once a year just makes me lose the hype all year around.

Lore channels didn't get it from the wikis they mostly got most the story from playing a long time (the pictures you get back then usually just tell the story for us) rewatching live events datamines comics and npc dialogue (they have special ones for a specific skins)

They should only do it if the account existed in the time of that season, eg if it was made last day of s5 (me) you could buy the s5 battlepass years later
This is an amazing idea honestly they should have done this with the beginning plus and it can be an offline mode too so that way people have something to do during downtime and stuff like that.( also have you seen the short Fortnite posted which is just 56 seconds of butter barn playing?)
9:32 funny enough there was quests relating to defeating kado for the hunters and when you defeat him you just got a little thing in the corner when the quest was completed that basically said "we did it, thanks for the help", it sucks too because i do usually like to run Joni because they're cool but you wouldn't know who they are or why you should care because they're not going to be relevant anymore

I would love to see a story mode with a separate item shop that would unlock skins as u completely the story. Old reactive skins like golden agent peely would still be rare because the purchased skin would have no way of becoming gold, but the option would still be there

Also, I think it’d be a great opportunity to do more collab canon stories. Batman: Zero Point was awesome, and I was really excited to see how MHA and Superman were gonna affect the story but they kinda just… were there and that was it.

This video has shown up in my recommended a couple times, I finally decided to watch it…and I agree. Since Chapter 3 Season 2 I’ve always felt that the game needs some sort of story mode, and I’ve even come up with a few mock-ups of what there could be. What annoys me is that the ideas are really cool, but no real story uses up those ideas. I also think it’d be good for Fortnite since it could bring in more merchandise and players, but really. The story can’t shine without it’s own treatment.
Bout time somebody gave the gate keeping skins community crap. It’s ridiculous. “I don’t want my account to lose value” you can’t sell skins so why does it matter? Literally though like it’s ridiculous. Especially considering one battle pass was all marvel superheroes that will never go to the shop. That’s outrageous

Its Meowskulls, especially her alt style. On top of that we started playing the exact same season, vibing. I rarely if ever seen any other meowskulls so it's made my day to see a youtuber actually giving her some love.
Good video to, the story in my eyes feels like they just gave up and throw darts at a wall for whatever happens next. Hopefully they go back to what they seemingly did way back and have a more cohesive story that more people can interact with.

Hear me out, while players are in a mission in the story they use that certain skin for that specific story, like using a chapter 5 skin for chapter 2 mission, we should blow this video up so maybe frotnite can see
yess, you understand! I’ve been playing sense season 2 and watching the story develop with quests, loading screens, live events, cinematics. And it sorta randomly stopped in chapter 4.. there was SO MUCH in chapter 3 and it stopped so stupidly in chapter 4 season 1? Like aimee was going back in time to save the seven and just NEVER CAME BACK? LIKE HELLLOOOO WHAT DO YOU MEAN? and the seven never return.. same with the last reality, oh wait the last reality did! In the MEGA season… in SIDE QUESTS!! THE PEOPLE THAT WANT TO DESTROY OUR ISLAND WAS ONLY TALKED ABOUT IN SIDE QUESTS.. oh but that also randomly stopped.. ok what about the zero point? The thing that is in created the world.. it’s just gone now? Like it’s hidden there is no place where the zero point is in chapter 5.. in chapter 4 we didn’t see it either it was supposedly under a stone but nothing ever came from that.. your a new player and like the story and I’m VERY happy that people who weren’t there back when the story was huge. Hopefully epic realizes that we need story.
I started in chapter 1 season 5, and it is hard to explain the lore behind all of fortnite because they either started in chapter 2/3 or they don't understand anything I'm saying. I totally agree that they should add a story mode.
Plus another thing I could see happen is when you revisit the old maps through story mode and you have crew, you could get the old skins and emotes from that battlepass.
I don't understand the argument of reselling old battlepass skins, because yeah they're not rare anymore, but they will cost a whole lot more than the 950 v bucks someone paid for eightish skins and other cosmetics

When you said the hodge-podge map I ACTUALLY AGREE because the story did make sense until c4s4 (aka last season of chapter four because first medieval to futuristic then to wild then stealing was weird anyway) true but I do actually with you because we need the story mode and to visit older maps and season to actually understand the story (also I began in chapter 2 season 7 bruh) we definitely need a story mode... i want to visit the old seasons and maps but the rest of the video makes sense but the boss fight part of the video is true
Crazy I started in the vibin season too. I had to learn about the whole story through CZcams.
i started in chapter 2 season 6 and the only story i knew was "purple orb does random stuff" and for c3s2 i was like "omg we are on a ship and shoot meteors then go into big robot then shoot at bubbles" and for c3s4 i didnt attend the live event, then fortnite stopped doing live events for a while and i learned the lore
The Ageless is a “snapshot” of Geno, which is when someone enters the loop, they have a copy of them created. This is made to explain 1) how there’s so many characters able to be in fortnite, and 2) why there are so many of the same characters, like Jonesy, or Bright Bomber. (Fun fact: Peely is just a version of jonesy fused with a banana 😂)
One underrated part of fortnite is it's description on cosmetics, giving us lore, personalities and other things. It is one of my most beloved parts of the game, even in this battle pass they are great. Making me love the skins and characters more, just see aphrodites' set
As someone who's been playing since ch1s1, I can see how storytelling has improved with time in-game (not with events, those were a thousand times better in 2017-2020), but it's still not to the point of the game letting you get interested in it, as you usually just complete the missions before your focus can switch from making sure you can talk with people without dying or on how much XP you're gonna get, to what the story is actually trying to tell you. The story seems to want to be really expansive, but it's like all we get out of the 'story tree' are the 'leaves' at the ends of it.
I would like too the open world option to explore the maps as they are incredible and full of details that usually you cannot check in the BR, I loved Battle Lab for this but we missed any option of it with the new chapter.
I feel like stw is actually tangentially related to the br story with the storm actually being the last reality and Jones being from the stw universe I'm assuming from his dialogue in the marvel comics, also the stw characters talking about "making it over" to the island and stw abilities being in br as different zero point abilities

A different story mode for each season which gives xp new part of story mode each week leading up to the last week of the season which ends with a story mode live event which concludes with a loading screen until the next season
I would pay good money for a fortnite story mode, I love the story of this game, but the storytelling has just gotten worse over the years, leaving us to fill in the pieces

Idea for the skins at the end:
They could have it that by completing missions, you unlock the ability to buy certain skins (kinda like the Ch1S1 Season Shop.)
For the old players just add 1 new style to every old battlepass skin (could be the same style for all) and give that style to players who already had the skins.

honestly tho, this a good way for people to get the battle pass skins without going back in time to get them, probably not in the base BR game but a skin you can play as only in the story mode
The title is what I have been saying for years. This is the only way to get me into the game.
12:00 they have super styles for a reason they could easily do what they did for skins like the skull trooper and only allow people who bought the original battle pass (for the respective skin) to have the super styles
It would be cool to have levels that had you played as different characters with there own gameplay.
