    Problem with just calling the cops is that abuser would retaliate. She would be dead. They both knew this, and he made the choice to free her even if it cost him HIS freedom.

    I always notice their legs at the end. Her pants start to separate at the ankles; saying he took her shackles so she could finally be free! Hardy is a great guy and he writes some very amazing songs (even for many other artists) he won’t write or sing what he doesn’t feel is right. And I for one LOVE THAT! I’ve been on the side of the bruised and broken…it sucks. So this one hit me hard the first time I heard it. Every person that’s been in that spot dreams of a hero. And no “protection order” will work. 🙏🙏

    He did it, knowing full well that he had nothing to gain from his actions and everything to lose. But he never gave his well-being a second thought. He just did what his conscience & character dictated with no hesitation at all. And her life is better as a result.
    These are the kind of people that, when presented with certain situations, like some soldiers in combat. They simply react as their nature dictates and completely disregard the consequences to themselves. Some Medal of Honor-winning soldiers have done precisely what this guy did-like MV TSgt John A. Chapman, ON March 4, 2002, who was awarded two medals of honor posthumously.
    In my humble opinion, this guy should not have spent even one day in jail. He just did what society and law enforcement all too often fail to do. He took out the garbage permanently.
    That guy had not only beaten this girl horribly and repeatedly but also threw her out into the rain. He was already working on another one when this girl’s savior busted through his door. So, this girl’s selfless savior inadvertently saved two women from this horrible fate.

      When the system, when society fails to protect those weakest among us it is left to rough men standing outside the rule of law to do what is necessary to preserve the peace, protect the innocent, and return civility. Some call this "vigilante justice" but for some the vigilante is the only hope to obtain justice.

    We need more guys in this world like that! I was abused as a child growing up. I got married at 17 to get away from it and because the guy I went on three dates with shot him self when I broke up with him. I felt guilty about that and married him. He mentally, physically, and sexually abused me for 17 years!!! He threatened to kill me and my family if I tried to leave. I finally got up the nerve to leave when he called me at work and told me he was going to kill me when I got home. I heard agentle voice in my head saying, it’s time to leave. I went to the Sheriff’s Department, and they got me into the SAFE program. I got a restraining order and he was told to get his belongings out of our trailer and leave. He did, but also did a lot of damage too. After about 6 months of continued harassment, I again got enough courage. I learned how to use firearms when I was 6.. I hunted and he knew when I called HIM and said, you follow me one more time on my way home from work (30 miles), I’ll be waiting , stopped around a curve, and one of us is going to die. I don’t care if it’s you or me. But I’m done with this. He knew I carried a 44 magnum pistol. I never ever had a problem with him again! I would have killed him stopped around that curve (or he would have killed me). But I was already dead anyway, so it didn’t matter at the time. My Angel was that voice I heard years ago, God, telling me to leave!

      So, you WISH that more people in our society were MURDERERS?? Make no mistake about it, what the guy did was commit murder and you think THAT is a good thing? The RIGHT THING to do would be to help the woman on the side of the road and take her to a hospital and the police, NOT break into the guy's home and murder him. Perhaps if we teach our kids RIGHT from WRONG then we won't need to advocate murder on the internet.

    • @holeika
      @holeika Před 8 měsíci

      @@williamhalejr.4289 not murderers but even in the Bible it says there is a time to kill ... Not murder. That attitude where a man believes he OWNS a woman and can beat her into submission because he is a male ...not a man though real men know better...that value, morale whatever you call it DOES NOT BELONG IN A SOCIETY period...he should never be able to pass that sexist attitude down. It needs to stop. As a woman I'm prey to those who think I'm lesser than him and only here to obey him just because I'm woman. A true man has no issue standing up for someone getting abused: child, female, male or even animals. I guess you agree with abuse....because a woman may not have family to help them....I didn't and because of the abuse I couldn't have children because the 12 gauge shotgun my husband raped me with caused too damage ... And during that time (early 90s) no woman shelter, no laws (or law enforcement didn't force the 1 or 2 that they did have) it was still considered a family issue. So yes during that time I would have loved meeting a true man that would have done this.... because I felt like I didn't matter at all and got hit daily just because I cooked his steak wrong or I said no because he was too drunk. I had no where to go.

    Take it from a Domestic Violence survivor this song hits different when you had to run on your own, when the law doesn't defend you. I wear full dentures because of the abuse, for 23 years I've hidden in plain sight because he still stalks me. He's got a felony record in at least 3 states, is a registered sex offender in two of those states and is still free. He gets out every time, always tends to find me, when you've hat to be the only one to protect yourself this song hits a hole lot different. Now I would never condone Murder but now a days women don't let men protect them and men rarely offer protection either. I'm blessed I found a man who for 18 years now has provided, protected and loved me no matter what, he's paid the price for what my ex did. He's dealt with the PTSD, the night terrors and the fears. He's the one who over the last 15 years rebuilt my smile, both physically and mentally. He taught me to shoot a pistol, made sure I'm proficient in several types and that I have them at the ready. I can honestly say if my ex shows up again, he won't like the reaction he gets from us.

    It's his truck. She's still waiting, and will be waiting quite awhile longer. This got me thinking.... There are several senses of the word 'predation' and I believe we as a society need to take another look at one of those less-used senses of that word. Domestic violence is, IMHO, a form of predation. As are many if not all other violent crimes. We need to draw a clear line between that sense of predation aimed at fellow humans [or their pets] and self-protection, and we need to treat all such 'predation' as VERY SERIOUS crimes [they are], and as warnings for the future of where a life resorting to violence (for anything other than self-protection from imminent bodily harm) TENDS to lead, given human nature.
    The 'violence' is the problem. The tools used are NOT the problem, at least not when for each violent
    'predator' there are thousands of good people who safely, sanely, responsibly, carefully keep, maintain, and occasionally use those same tools for a lifetime without resorting to that other form of 'predation'. It's ACCESS by anyone engaged in that other sense of 'predation' aimed at fellow humans that MUST BE changed. Prior 'predation' (regardless of whether tools were used or not) is what makes it make sense to apply 'Red Tag'.
    By choosing that kind of 'predation' the citizen LOSES the right to bear dangerous 'tools' that make them more capable 'predators', and access to protected pools (schools, ex's family's neighborhood, workplaces, etc) of likely future victims.
    This neglected sense of 'predation' is at least a GOOD place to START addressing the problem. INTENT matters. Don't punish (nor abrogate the rights of) good people for the acts of bad people. IMHO. ymmv.

      Normal people don’t pick crazy people to be with… in other words, when somebody is mentally and emotionally healthy, they are not going to stay with people who are mentally and emotionally dysfunctional. We all have our crazy moments, but the overall picture is that healthier people stay with healthy people and unhealthy people stay with unhealthy people. so when one person says their partner is crazy that’s usually thing something about them as well😊👍

    @markmyers6472 Před 10 měsíci +1

    To add to the other comments... he was not a bad man, he was not an evil man... perhaps he grew up in a house of abuse.... as he knew what had happened to her without asking... he was a man who saw a need, saw an evil and acted on that need and evil. He was a man of faith (evidenced by the court scene bridge (Oh Lord have mercy on me was not asked to the court system... it was a plea to God) and visibly evidenced by the cross hanging on his rear view mirror... was his action legal, obviously not based on the trial, was it morally just.... that is up to each individual for you cannot legislate morality... but for every victim of DV, he would be an answered prayer... and for every man... the story forces the question... "what would I do?"
    I recently picked up on another aspect of the acting...you can see the transfer of 'weight' from the weight on her as a DV victim... to him, as the reality of what he did sank in looking at the body on the floor... she has her weight lifted as she no longer has to live that life... and the weight of the decision he made settles onto his shoulders, heart and mind.

    For those not believers, this is very similar to what our Lord Jesus Christ did for us on the cross. He took our punishment so we could be set free.

    and in a few years she will stop visiting him, get married to some other dude, and he will rot in prison forever. Bad choice, dude. I don't want to come off like victim blaming but to me this situation is not that different than trying to justify beating your kids because your parents beat you. At some point it is your own responsibility to change your situation. now, all that said if i was on this dudes jury i couldn't see myself voting to convict of murder..

    As an AV i dont condone killing someone but saving them/ doing what you have to in the middle of no where i say, " be a human and treat people like them." At the same time i know some abuse will never stop so do what you have to, To save that person. Ill chant to free you in the streets.
