    • @TheRoadChoseMe
      @TheRoadChoseMe  Před 4 lety

      Yes, on the East Coast it's quite common for women to overland and backpack solo.. and sometimes they team up too.
      On the West Coast I only met one, and I heard about one more. It's much more difficult (even for me), though it can be done, if you're determined enough! Good luck!

    I'm also stressing over getting a multi entry visa to Ethiopia cos going there in January. Even though I'm going by airplane, I'm hopping back and forth between Somaliland and Djibouti a d Ethiopia in transit.
    Yet apparently a single entry Ethiopian visa is used up just by going from Addis to Djibouti cos it has a 45min layover in Dire Dawa which is not considered transit ! 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

    • @TheRoadChoseMe
      @TheRoadChoseMe  Před 4 lety +1

    Just out of curiosity, what was the reason you didn't consider / didn't do Ethiopia - Djibouti - Eritrea - Sudan? I know in your AMA you talked about the border between Ethiopia and Eritrea being fussy but as far as I'm aware Eritrea Sudan border is doable.

    • @TheRoadChoseMe
      @TheRoadChoseMe  Před 2 lety

      Things were very strange then - the peace deal had just gone through with Eritrea and Ethiopia and so it was a very big unknown.
      Also nobody could tell me (and I still can't find info) on going from Eritrea into Sudan - nobody knows if it's actually doable as a foreigner, and if the roads work. I've never directly spoken to anyone that has done it.

    • @robertvoss9111

      @@TheRoadChoseMe well with the current tension between Sudan and Ethiopia and my plans to do a Europe to Cairo trip in the next couple of years I might just have to find out 😅

    • @TheRoadChoseMe
      @TheRoadChoseMe  Před 2 lety

      Ethiopia right now is a HUGE problem. As far as anyone can tell, all land borders are closed. You can fly in/out no problem, but not driving.

    • @robertvoss9111
      @robertvoss9111 Před 2 lety

      @@TheRoadChoseMe so I guess south Sudan might have to become an option for the Cape to Cairo road 🤔, I have seen more and more videos of people visiting it in recent years so it's definitely doable. I don't however know what the border situation with Sudan is like

    • @TheRoadChoseMe
      @TheRoadChoseMe  Před 2 lety

      I met people that had been - flying in/out of the capital and staying there is doable, there is a strong protection force there. Everything outside that is a literal war zone. I spoke to a Doctor who treats 30+ gunshot victims a day.
      South Sudan is NOT an option.
