- I feel like the Nissan Titan does not get as much love as it deserves. Through its entire 11 year generation from 2004-2015 it has been a pretty solid and outstanding vehicles, respectively.
The Titan does have issues like all cars do, but non of which are deal breakers for me.
Hopefully this quick review of the Nissan Titan helped you out in some sort of way.

my 04 saw me through the toughest years of my life in my 20s. no maintance for 20-30k at a time, never let me down. deer took it from me 7 years ago with 238k on the dial. ready for another one.
Deer destroyed front bumper on 04 Armada but still going strong at 200k.....
My 04 Titan is still going strong at 300k.
@@OCWord same dawg
I just got a 2004 Titan with 228k and feels strong. Previous owner did replace the catalytic converters but not sure about the headers. Love it though.
Follow up. Bought a 2014 P4X and it’s like meeting a old friend for the first time everyday. Best trucks I’ve ever owned.
My 2013 Titan I brought brand new in 2013 still have it no problems, only had to replace a battery cable last month. Has over 193,000 miles and still going good.
Another notable issue if planning on keeping for a good while is the internal transmission cooler inside the radiator, after a while it can crack and mix transmission fluid and coolant. An aftermarket radiator and transmission cooler to run separate will keep you on the road indefinitely!
I just got a 2006 Titan yesterday and so far I am LOVING IT. I want to constantly get out and just drive it. Perfect truck for me.
How much did u get it for?
@@christianc9793 I traded a 2012 Dodge Journey straight up title for title.
@Justin W I’m still loving it. I have taken my Titan on the dirt drags a few times. She handles everything I throw her way, and keeps on going strong.
@@JoeCompton81 How do you feel about the Nissan Titan gas mileage? I am considering models in the 10-year-old range, but the stats on gas mileage look horrible. What I like about it is the spaciousness of the driver's seat, especially if I get a model with the armrest console.
The Titan is the only truck I am considering, and that is based on its reputation for reliability. My other options are the Toyota Highlander and the Honda Pilot, but I found the driver's seat to be boxy in both because of the huge center console.
@@Tes7000 the gas mileage is what is to be expected of a V8. I have the 5.6L. I also have a heavy right foot. So my gas mileage is greatly decreased because of that. All in all though… I wouldn’t trade it for anything. My Titan is my daily. I also have a 2000 Dodge Ram 1500 with a V6. The Ram has over 220000 on it. So I rely more on my Titan.
I've had my "04 for 18 years now and it's been the best truck I've ever owned. Very few problems all of which were minor repairs.
2009 stock xe titan with almost 260k miles (no check engine light) i think if you pull a lot with the titan you need to def keep an eye on the rear dif
Drove mine for 15 years. It’s been the truck with least maintenance I ever owned. Changed oil every 10000 + or - 1000.
Dude, great video! My buddy had a rear end failure on his titan… and now that I think about it, might have been an ‘04 or maybe ‘05! I’m thinking about a cheap titan as a work truck and you’ve got me pretty sold on an ‘08 or newer!
The manifold cracking isn’t from thin metal. It’s from the heavy cats vibrating back and forth. Every maker suffers from this when the cats are directly down stream
Still way better than any GMC or Silverado of the same year and so forth.
I still own a nissan titan 2007( almost 13 years now)and a ford 150 raptor 2012( almost 6 years now)…both reliable. Titan mostly I use for daily driving because i love it. So owning a truck, doesn’t matter what kind a truck, just maintain the GodDamn truck well
220k miles on my 07 titan and i love it. 4x4 is sweet. Only had the cats replaced
381,000 km and still ticking almost zero rust and still can do donuts on pavement
The clunk is a real thing. Mine mostly went away when I replaced the drive shaft center bearing housing. The rear diff vent caused my axle seals to break. So I did the mod. The paint did rear on the inside. The outside, the clear coat came out but that took a long time. 13 years. But I love my Titan.
I have a 2006 with 165k miles. Installed LTH due to the cracked OEM headers. Had it tuned from Cajun. The before and after is a huge noticeable difference. Feels powerful on take off but after 80mph it feel sluggish due to the long gear ratio for that gear
My 07 just stopped running last year. Best truck I’ve ever owned but My only complaint is that it wouldn’t get any better than 15 mpg regardless of how I drove it
thank you i was looking at a 08 and your info is gonna make me want to get it thank you
I’m glad I could help out
Under appreciated video 🙏🏻 good job mate
Thank you! Hopefully this video will reach people who would benefit from it 🙏
Titans are a very reliable truck.
07 with 157K. No cracked manifold issue. Rear diff seals went so did vent mod. No issues with ATF and coolant mixing either and it's stock. Reliable since new except axle seals.
2014 4x4 with around 60k miles...love it
260,000 miles and runs perfect. I have 17 Cummins I don’t drive. Drive the beater everyday. It’s not as dumb reliable as tundra but I like the engine character better
My old 05 had upgraded aluminum radiator, trutrac rear end, rear end vent mod and a shift kit... prior to that the radiator, carrier bearing and rear end were my only issues.. I drove that thing like I stole it, but put mobil 1 every 3k..
2005 Titan without issues after 400.000 km
I love my 2006 se programmed and full bolt ons.120,000 miles.
The gaskets between the manifold and exhaust pipe tend to go out occasionally. It's kind of a weird design because the sleeve slips in the manifold rather than the other way around. Love the truck though and will be keeping it as my utility truck and secondary driver so it won't be getting a lot of miles on it. Only has 167K now which is low for an 05.
‘08 LE bought for a work truck in ‘15 for my job carrying heavy loads weekly for sales, over payload too often but handled fine. About to hit 320,000 miles and power train feels the same as when I bought it with no issues. Replaced radiator due to small leak, catalytic converters and front wheel hubs. Other than that been an extremely reliable truck. Always have the urge to buy a new one but at the same time I still love driving this truck and have no practical reason to buy a new one. Now I’m just curious to see how far I can take this thing. Wife had an ‘04 Armada which we sold at 250,000 miles and it was still running strong too.
My 04 is still with me at 325k. Only issue was the puny rear axle vent blowing axle seals. Installed a larger vent with a hose tied off up high like an off roader. Id drive across the country with no worries.
Have a 08 armada and a 12 Titan.. no problems.
Annoyingly reliable. I want a new truck but I have no reason to get rid of this old one. Same towing capacity as a new one and feels very solid when towing.
Mine is a 2010. It's been pretty good to me so far, minus the heater failing lol.
Turn the knob on the coolant flow regulator. It will hard force the heater to work.
@@joewhitt2394 Nah it's not that heater valve. That thing both hoses get hot to the touch, when you switch it between hot and cold.
Normally when that plastic thing when the gears go bad is the issue only one hose to the heater core is hot and the other (usually the left one) is cold. It's the actuator unfortunately under the passenger side of the dash.
Wiring harness on 2008 in column breaks.black wire breaks and will not manually shift.
Thank you😀
Great video! Helpful 👍
I'm at 210k very reliable, I replaced the axle seal and did the vent mod. I did a radiator bypass to prevent the strawberry milkshake thing. looking into doing a trutrac or some sort of lsd since I'm starting to drive on some steep dirt roads.
What year Titan?
@@carloesahagun3999 I have a 2004 with the towing package
I have a 04 Titan with 200373 miles on it and still have originals heaters, haven't cracked yet, but it has others issues like the seals and the radiator that is common. Like any other vehicle when is first gen always has problems and in the next generation they'll fix it. But I see your point.
Nice video. What’s the name of the song in the background?
I’m on my 4th gen 1 Titan. I wont buy another Truck. Easy to fix and only my most recent one has a major issue but at 152,000 miles the rear diff started whining. None of them left me sit and my current gets the rear axle assembly replaced next month.
Question
Why will 04 not go in 4x4? All lights on except one beside gear (drive, neutral, reverse) please help
Heater control actuator. Pain in the ... S, won't switch from cold to hot
I want to get rid of my 2004 GMC Sierra 2500HD Duramax LB7 to get a Nissan Titan. Very cool trucks.
I'm looking to buy a 2010 Titan pro 4x....13900 with 175k miles. What do you think?
Pretty much if you have 1st gen just get ready for long tubes and catback 1200.00$ and put a good quality after market front wheel bearings.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
You’ll hear the exhaust leak up front but it hurt anything
Why do you say this?
If you want the real power out of any v8 then yes you need longtube headers and a programmer.
08 115,000 miles and the biggest problem I had was the paint... Replaced one starter, 2 window motors. Originally had the problem with non-alignable bolts but after writing the President of Nissan North American, they replaced for free
2010 titan 300k no cracked manifolds
Just subscribed
Thank you Mike🙏
Where's the link for the headers?
the differencial issue is that only one 4wd models or both?
I truly believe all trucks etc mess up either Early soon or down the road I mean 2020 plus models mess up
Bought my 04 new and still drive quite a bit. Never had any of those problems but I have changed the rear vent plug with the off-road gorilla kit you showed. Titans are good trucks but if you keep it long enough you’ll be repainting it. Nissan paint is the WORST!
232,000 miles and counting
I’m at 195k on my 2008 and expecting to see 250k
Lie I have one that have running more than 10 years
Mines-@489000mil
How is gas mileage on the 04 models
10 - 14 mpg
Like it or not all cars and trucks have they own issues
Dang, I didn’t know they all have the same exact issue and everyone should go into a purchase blind.
@@AutoMotivateoh jee i didnt know you this smart
Pretty much a spot on video but the leaking seals isn’t the main reason why the 04 - 07 axles fail. The 04 - 07 rear axles had a 2 spider gear design.
Who ever approved that must not have known the Titan was going to make 379+ ft lbs of torque. In 08 they went to the 4 spider design.
Go with a Toyota Tundra with 4.7 or 5.7 instead.
Man I had every truck from dodge chevy and ford. They all sucked. My titan I missed dearly now getting rid of my peace of junk Dodge for a titan again.
Pray you never have to change the starter
Please everyone Stop frightening people away from doing their starter. it takes time but is very doable..people search everywhere else for problems when it is often a tired starter or solenoid. It's in a strange spot but not rocket science to change.
I'm talking about the price the mechanic charge to do the work, I don't have time to do that kind of stuff he quoted me $1,500
parts and labor, and I said whoa whoa whoa whoa wait a minute you just changing the starter bro he said he had to take apart all this uddar shit just to get to the starter and that a lot work he say
Its not a terrible job, I can do it in under 2hrs.
V8 Tundra starter at top of engine, need to take a lotttt of stuff of to replace it. It's up on top so when doing water crossings it usually won't get up to starter. The 2 wheel drive Tundra starter V6 is down low like most cars, book rate labor time on that is 1 hour and the mechanic usually does it in 45 minutes. Can't get a V6 4x4 Tundra though, not enough power. You can get V6 4x4 in a Tacoma though.
100
just get the 2022
I'll just stick to my 2007, LS 4.8 ltr., V8 GMC Sierra Classic. Power and cheap on gas. I don't have to take off the intake manifold just to get to the starter, as the Titan. LS engines are easy fix, old school! Thanks for the warning..👍
Ewwww..... 'Murircan car.
@@tonykartracer8032 The Titan may be a Japanese brand but it's manufactured in the US.
Common issues on a lot of trucks 🙄
Oh yeah, all trucks have these same exact issues
Actually the 2008 plastic interior begins to crumble in just a few years. ai doubt your children will ever see a Titan restored in the future.
NOT TRUE!
Mine is perfect.. a little faded.. no problems 2008 I absolutely LOVE MY BEAST .. but right now .. I think I tracked it down to a coil pack or sparking … idk .. how do u check fuel pressure…?
@@mimiller100 you need a computer hooked to the ecu,or get a fuel pressure gage.
