Here it is. The highly anticipated video for The Cruxshadows' new hit song "Quicksilver". In late November of 2009, "Quicksilver" reached the #1 position on the Billboard Hot Dance Singles Sales Chart as well as the #2 position on the Billboard Hot 100 Singles Sales Chart.
Marc Shahboz, who also directed The Cruxshadows' "Immortal" video, returns with his crew of talented video and digital artists to create a masterful work of moving images. Primarily in black and white, the video uses splashes of red to reference the red gas released when mercury (quicksilver) changes state. In literature, as in alchemy, mercury (quicksilver) symbolizes an immediate change, and it was believed to represent to many ancient mystics the mechanics of the soul when it adopted a decisive new direction, or a complete change of heart. The red smoke serves to tie together the various visual elements of the video. While the band primarily performs with instruments, the elaborate use of symbols, textures, color splashes, and motion generate a rich tapestry of aesthetic depth, all the while remaining relevant to the lyrics. You can see clearly frontman Rogue really means every word he sings.
The video is at once meaningful and calculated, while remaining accessible and dynamically true to its subject matter. Despite a bold use of digital manipulation, it manages to bring classical visual elements into direct harmony with the tools of modern film making.

"Quicksilver" Trivia-
•This is the first time Rogue appears performing with Cruxshadows while wearing a tie.
•At the time the video was shot, there was only one dancer for the band, Jessica.
•The video was shot entirely in front of a green-screen in Gainsville FL. The floor was also green-screen material which was near impossible to dance on.
•The footage of the band was shot immediately after returning from their performance onboard ship in the Caribean while headlining the Gothic Cruise.
•Cassandra Luger appears in her first CXS video. She is playing a Daisy Rock guitar. Incidentally, Daisy Rock Guitars became a sponsor of the band just after the video was filmed.
for 6 years I was fighting a demon that trying to destroy my health and at my weakest moments with what little energy I had, this song gave me the strength to fight and take back what cancer was trying hard to take away from me.

I don't understand the comments saying this video is cheesy. If you don't like the actual music video, watch a lyrics scroller. I think the video is great for what it contributes to the song. It's not about making a standard cool music video with CXS IMO. The point in anything Rogue has a hand in is in showing the power of WILL and our ability to rise above. He does this by showing his own will and that takes guts. To just come online and say the video isn't good, you may as well say the very things that are considered quality in the music aren't as important when represented visually.
To me they are one and the same, intrinsically.
This video is actually very well done. It has "re-watchability" which one wants in a video. I don't understand what anyone would have to complain about unless they think they could do better...

I met Rogue many years ago and I asked him what hair products he uses and he said lots of freeze spray and it takes him an hour of maintenance 🖤👍🏼
Not my ONLY favorite line that he's ever written, but definitely in the top three, "The future belongs to the brave..." can't beat that with a bat... :-D

The first time I saw this vid, I thought to myself, "lol, these guys suck." Fast forward three weeks later, I watch this video at least once a day, then I go watch "Birthday"
Lol, my brother listened to this group before I got into them. I got into them when I got a sampler cd and it had Birthday on it.
wow I can't believe his hair is actually made of pixie sticks. but for real everything about this song just flows passion and strength from source. I love how quite a few cruxshadows lyrics have a lot of profound spiritual references and it's not often that I find I can connect with gothic music on a deeper level like that. reflecting on the human condition and experience in a way I don't hear as often. messages of hope, faith, wisdom, personal discipline, devotion, occult secrets, prayer, emotional connection, universal law, divine actualization, communion with spirits, and a path of light most of all.
I have loved this band ever since I listened to them first. They are an amazing band :)

Definitely a song for Alchemists and not; alike. The magic of this song is astounding. The reassurance to all magi that they are not alone, nor have they ever been or ever will be.

I don't care what anyone says. Loved them at first listen and I still love them. And since when do people use comments for videos to immaturely fight back and forth. Like with all things in the world some people like them and some don't. Just because someone bad mouths a band I love doesn't mean they suck or that I'll stop liking them. I recently got out of the Air Force and I saw them but didn't realize it was them at Dragon Con last year and I was so bored waiting to start College and decided to walk to a club to get a drink, and I met them "again". @Prepare4Buddha this was a single/EP they released last year (2010). on the disc included the original song, the video/radio mix, and the dancefloor transformation mix. Also on the disc was avalanche and roland, two additional new songs.

I saw Cruxshadows & I think I talked to someone in the band there in Atlanta Georgia @ Dragoncon 1999 so long ago (Love the cheese video reference LOL it's a bit funny But I seriously LOVE Cruxshadows are fracking awesome. they did this video not long after her dad was killed in a car accident, it's on their blog. the Quicksilver liner notes also say it's in his memory. maybe she was sad and YOU should try not being so judgemental. i've met her many times and shes very kind and sweet.
