omg guys,, yes ive seen the bat, yes i think shes hot, yes ive heard the bat's song. but my point is that he always gets blindly seduced for some reason. it happened TWICE,, which is funny to me. i js wanted to make fun of him lmaooo
i wanna apologize for my friends being annoying. i take full responsibility lol we love the bat
Honestly I woulda done it twice, too
The footage is out now, you can see just how hot Bat is for yourself! And rate that Andy because he’s the absolute best
Daws Butler voice Andy in the Pumpkin That Couldn't Smile In 1979 and The Great Santa Claus caper in 1978.
Andrew Francis voiced Andy in Snowden in 1998.
Josh Rhoden voice candy and the adventures of Raggedy Ann and Andy in 1988.

It sounded so genuine
1977's Andy was too iconic. They tried to replicate him, and while like, two were okay-ish, none could beat the original best boy. :)
The worst part about the 1988 series was that they LITERALLY took Ann And Andy’s designs and everything from that special (but lower budget obviously) BUT were missing Diddi Conn and Mark Baker who literally made those versions who they are as they are still popular as them today…
How do you pay attention to half of the source material? Everything was on point until they spoke with these very unfitting kid voices… That ruined the whole thing honestly…

in terms of mere floppiness and ragdoll physics, no version of either anne or andy has ever been able to contend with 1977
I absolutely agree with you! 1977’s Andy is my absolute favorite, he’s the best, I fucking love him, but the 1979 is also awesome and the funniest one. AND THE THING HE DOES WITH HIS LITTLE HAT WHEN SHIT IS ABOUT TO GET REAL IS SO ADORABLE I LOVE IT. And, of course, Annoying Andy and Alabama Andy are both terrible, I can’t say the one I dislike most. Annoying Andy is just loud and mean and Alabama Andy is boring and... well, incestuous. I believe in 1977’s and 1979’s supremacy 😔✊
HARD AGREEEEEEEEE
I still prefer 1977 over 1979, but I love both tbh
Annoying Andy might have been ok if he didn't have that annoying voice and wasn't sexist. 1977 Andy might have hated girly stuff (mood) but at least he wasn't outright sexist lmao

Also… NOTHING beats 1977 Andy. Literally the best one. Artstyle: GORGEOUS, personality: STUNNING and I’m with you on the voice actor: THE BEST. I am a 1977 Andy apologist
After watching this video I have so much more appreciation for 1977 Andy lmao
wh sonic isnt like that at all
@davebob4973 I agree. Some of the sonic TV shows made his personality close to 1988 Andy, but never just as bad. His voice doesn't grate as much on your nerves either. Well, except for the 1990s series when he was voiced by 'did I do that?' king himself, Jaleel White.
hear me out, older Andy is secretly a hopeless romantic

1977 Andy will always be my fave, too. (His 'ew girls' moments aside, but kind of expected for the 70s.) Love his voice, his design, and that he's Annie's number one fan and supporter and protector. Not even just physically, but emotionally, too.

1988 Andy: hold on lemme put my cat on the mic

MAOOW-(I hate that lil shit)
DUDE THATS NOT A CAT
They butchered the shit out of Andy for the 1988 series! His personality is so different from the books and previous cartoons. Sure he is adventurous but that doesn't mean that they needed to make him an extremely whiny little brute.
Exactly and the thing that bothers me for those versions too, the heck were the thinking not getting Didi and Mark back to voice them for it?!
Those voices for them for that show literally sound so out of place because of that.
and act like Andrew shit/tate
Oh my god the 1940's Andy sounds like a castrato singing which is just... horrifying to think about.
Tommy Bupp either had voice lessons or was part of a church choir, boys in that sort of stuff could sing really beautifully like that, especially back then! …. Until of course they unfortunately grow up and can’t sing like that anymore and then there’s that you mentioned… It’s sad, but at least they don’t have to worry about their voices getting matured…
I’m late, but he was 10 years old for this! So no castrato :)
1977 was ironicly the oldest but most well preserved.
I really love 1940 Andy's singing voice wtf 😭 such a shame it's incest Andy :( also !!! I have those two raggedy Ann and Andy dolls you showed and called cute :D can confirm they are very cute
More like Alabama Andy
The worst thing about alabama andy is that *apparently* his story was co written by one of Gruelle's family member. :(
Yeah, the son of the original author helped with the short. Personally I think Fleischer knew they were siblings in the books and just wanted to make their own version; I could be wrong but idk how they’d miss smth like that
@@tiablue9106 the only way I can think of them being changed from being siblings to lovers is that maybe the son forgot or misinterpreted their relationship? (even though the Raggedy Andy Stories book outright says Andy is Ann’s brother so idk)
That's fucked up
1988 Andy is amazing casting if you were doing a role for an annoying little brother we were all supposed to hate, but when they used the same design from 1977 for that role and voice, it was downright insulting to 1977 Andy and everyone who made him come alive.
REAL
Literally obsessed with Andy his sass is just amazing
omg, the incest version just reminded me of a couple gags the comic strip Mother Goose & Grimm did in which Raggedy Ann and Andy were depicted as a married couple. It's been well over 30 years, but I still recall the irritation I felt as a kid over the cartoonist's apparent ignorance. I remember looking forward to the '88 Saturday morning cartoon, thinking it was a continuation of the 1977 movie, but when I tuned in to the first episode, I was so disappointed when I realized that the voices were totally different that I changed the channel right away. IMO, every other animated incarnation of Ann and Andy pale in comparison to the '77 film. Most other productions made them too saccharine for my tastes.
It’s impressive that these characters are literally from the 1910s and still have fans 🎉💝
I think the big part of the 1988 version on how annoying he was, was just his voice acting. It makes me want to cry.
Literally, he doesnt say anything 1977 Andy wouldnt say😭

I see the andys as different life stages for andy, except the incest one, that one doesn't cout cause they didn't know what they were doing.
How old andy is is each variation
Green andy, 5-8
Here is where you can REALLY tell that he's her little brother and you can see her looking out for him (spoiler: he learns from this and looks out for ann later)
King Andy 9-11
He's in his "little comedian phase" and he's starting to see his sister a a little clingy but he still likes hanging around with her
Annoying Andy 12-14
He's in his "too cool for my sister phase" and really hates all things girly because, he keeps hanging around Ann and as a result is doing girly things, this caused him to be made fun of for being girly, something he will never fully get over.
Andy 15-16
He's gotten a lot more comfortable in himself and his relationship with his sister, he's still a little dopey and childish, but he's still a kid, and now he sees it as his time to look out for his sister because she looked out for him and put up with him for so long he feels like now it's his turn
Interesting
1979 Andy has that Chuck Jones kinda flair with the charming and loveable animation he did.
Chuck Jones is the one who animated that version! I was a little girl when the 1970’s ones were made!😊
The amount of times I’ve seen this video is crazy and I still act shocked every time incest Andy comes up

OH URE SO RIGHT
I dead ass thought they where a couple when I first found out about them 💀 glad I watched the 1977 one and found out. I think maybe the 1940 one thought they where a couple too so I can't blame them. Unless they knew, that would be so sad
My guess is they didn't read the books because it's been stated from the start that they're siblings.
But people are creepy so I wouldn't doubt the sweet home Alabama scenerio either

I love these two so much, they’re such great siblings 🗣🗣
Thanks for talking about them, man it’s so hard to find raggedy Andy/Ann fans nowadays 😭😭
Concerning the 1941 Fleischer Brothers Andy: I thought he was a bit of a pill. He shouldn't have been swept away by the little senorita so easily. But he story was charming.
I also thought that since they came from the same machine at the same time they should be siblings, and even twins, in the story as well; but what two consenting dolls do in the privacy of their playroom is nobody else's business.
But the machine voice was a little to flat and dead. I can't say that was a good artistic choice.
If I where to not know they're siblings, I would still find the relationship concerning due to the fact that one of them can get easily swayed by other people and how the fact that they'd didn't really give us a clear proof that the guy for sure loves her and not just "another option".
Honestly had no idea there was more than one version until now
Green Andy looks more like the original dolls yet he still gives me Uncomfortable Vibes. He stares into my very soul, and I do not like it.
Same for Incest Andy, he constantly looks cracked out of his mind with those eyes

Not gonna lie, thanks so much for rating/compiling all the andys in one place. Ive been confused about how many animated peices of media for raggedy anne and andy, so this helped a bunch! Also, if youre interested, could you rate the annes? I mean she fluctuates less than andy i imagine but if youd wanna. You have a new sub!
Yeah so I drew Andy in the kirby art style and I think its freakin adorable. Doing a combination of the 77' design with the outfit (since it's the most iconic) and 78/9' design in terms of him looking smaller and more cutesy while adding a bit of a anime/kawii look to it. Kinda debated if I could've added color to his eyes but didn't, and made his eyes look kinda like Prince Fluff's and Anime Knuckle Joe eyes without the angry eyebrows.
Of course in terms of his personality, I definitely aimed for his 77 personality while making him slightly more kinder to fit in a bit more, that is until a threat approaches, in which he'll of course have the protectiveness really show off.
If I could show a photo on this comment I sure as hell would, just imagine him trying to go up against Void termina, Magolor, Fecto, lmaooo it'd be doomsday ☠

To be fair, The Santa Claus Caper and The Pumpkin Who Couldn't Smile were both written, designed, etc by Chuck Jones, who was a classic animator for Warner Brothers' theatrical shorts. And you're right, Andy and Ann could just stand there looking cute and you'd be happy with it, because Jones' style was so expressive and distinct. (Also note that A.G. Wolf looks a little like Wile E. Coyote? Hmm... 😜)
I nearly forgot, and hate saying it, but that "questionable" Fleischer cartoon? The story was co-written Worth Gruelle. JOHNNY GRUELLE'S SON.

I was desperate for similar dolls to the movie versions and they are very hard to find. I find the large 70th anniversary dolls are most similar. And managed to get them off eBay. Only Andy’s hair is red and not orange. Most Andy’s dolls come in a red plaid shirt and it annoys me.

Imo Annoying Andy doesn’t deserve the hate he gets. They probably used the designs from Musical Adventure because those were seen as the most iconic ones at that time. Plus the show was in a different continuity than Musical Adventure.
And sure, his attitude is annoying but what I think is that they were trying to make Ann and Andy act like kids, which is why they’re voiced by children

I've had raggedy ann and andy on an old hand-be-down pillowcase of my mom's (I actually still use) since I was little so it's cool to see where these characters came from
The ‘77 musical is such an underrated gem, nice to see it getting some proper appreciation. (Although I admit for years I thought ‘77 Andy was voiced by Mark Linn-Baker, not…Mark Baker. Oops.) And it’s not surprising the animation in that movie is so smooth and borderline trippy, it was directed by Richard Williams, who worked on “Who Framed Roger Rabbit?” and “The Thief and the Cobbler”. I definitely recommend checking out that last one, but know that “Cobbler” has a complicated history and there’s multiple versions, so it’s a whole rabbit hole you’ll be falling into. 😅
This is the realest video ever, also I’m glad someone else suffered through the 1988 cartoon I HATED that one 😭 how on earth did they get the rights to the Musical Adventure designs for that abomination??
