I'm two years late to this video, but I just wanted to say that '77 Andy was voiced by Mark Baker, who was a total cutie in the 60s/70s. There's a black and white photo shoot he did with the '77 VA for Ann where they're dressed as the characters.

I figured out a way to get around the incest Ann & Andy: Raggedy Ann & Andy (1977 onward) , son and daughter of Raggedy Ann & Andy (1940's) 'Cuz we know they're supposed to be siblings but in the 1940's version they were written as a couple instead of siblings, so since literally all other versions are siblings, just make the non-siblings the parents of the siblings! Like in actual toy lines where they make parent dolls and child dolls. Ofc since our Ann & Andy's full names are Annie and Andrew, we can make the "parent" Ann & Andy's full names to be Annabelle and Andareen to make it work better :D

The 77 version portrays the charm and brings out the characters of the actual dolls so well as the dolls were made for love and kindness

The line: “oh where is my foot? Oh there it is” feels like improv, you cant see the characters faces and so I think the Voice actor slipped it in there when told to react to the fall. To save time they had probably already animated that scene because it’s got no lip syncing required.

The ‘77 musical is such an underrated gem, nice to see it getting some proper appreciation. (Although I admit for years I thought ‘77 Andy was voiced by Mark Linn-Baker, not…Mark Baker. Oops.) And it’s not surprising the animation in that movie is so smooth and borderline trippy, it was directed by Richard Williams, who worked on “Who Framed Roger Rabbit?” and “The Thief and the Cobbler”. I definitely recommend checking out that last one, but know that “Cobbler” has a complicated history and there’s multiple versions, so it’s a whole rabbit hole you’ll be falling into. 😅

Andy in the musical will complain about the room he is forced to live in and then sing a song about how great it is when the french doll complained about it
