  • When engineering students test their designs/experiments with an oscilloscope, they will typically need to perform voltage and timing measurements to compare to theoretical results. This lesson shows how to perform amplitude and timing measurements using the oscilloscope’s cursors, which are sometimes called markers.

Here's another technique for reducing measurement errors when using an oscilloscope to measure voltage or time: Use only one side of the trace when performing amplitude or time measurements-e.g., make all measurements using only the bottom edge of the trace for ΔVoltage measurements (e.g., measuring peak-to-peak voltage), or make all measurements using only the left edge of the trace for Δtime measurements (e.g., rise time, period, etc.). Never to use both sides of the trace-i.e., top and bottom, or left and right-when making measurements because doing so adds the trace's thickness into the measurement.

    1st thank you so much.
Is there a lesson on osciluscope math? please

What is the uncertainty of those measurements? Does the technical specifications of the oscilloscope show that piece of information?

      It's perfectly normal, don't worry.

A lot of people need that scope to make mppt boost or buck conv., but student has to collect money 10- 15 years, and 10- 15 years of work is lost, becasue knowledge and oscilloscopes are only for a few people, not everyone. This is bad approach, we have money for wars, but not money for students to grow quickly.

      Correct
But on the other hand students don't really need yo buy 1000$ oscilloscope to get things done
They can buy chinese oscilloscopes like hantek ones for about 150$ , there are also usb oscilloscopes which you can buy for 50$
I'm not saying that they are as good as the 1000$ keysight but yeah they get things done for a student
