If HIV infected person's blood touches the cuts and wounds on our body then do we also have the chances to get infected also

i read in an newspaper article few years back ,where a person had bought and eaten fruit salad from a local street vendor and that person got infected because that vendor was infected and his blood through his cuts on finger contaminated the salad...
