    I just bought the 2020 model yesterday in the same colour Matt blue. I absolutely love it! Plenty of power from take off and love the ABS feature also !

    • @jonpram1737
      @jonpram1737 Před 4 lety

      Just bought mine in the blue too! I was set on an xmax, but then had a realisation that as I have a bike I don't actually need the xmax's power or price hike, and was just being a bit ... Jeremy Clarkson about it lol - poweeeer! - even though the whole point of the scooter was supposed to be a cheap and cheerful way to get to work and take the miles off my bike lol.
      Ride home was slow lol as it's in break in, but man, so much better than I honestly expected it to be. There's also some good deals around (mine was A$4600 ride away) as I think they're trying to clear stock before the 2021 one with the updated dash and stop start comes out. To be honest not having stop/start nor the key fob was actually a plus lol!
      Thanks to @Chris for mentioning the rubbing shoes - I'll defo put some helicopter tape or rubber on the side plastics to protect them from my boots lol.

      @@lloyd9259 I got it from Yamaha City in Melbourne.
      IIRC $500 of the discount was a winter promo from Yamaha Australia that ran from July to Sept last year, so it might be worth keeping at eye out this year just in case?
      Unfortunately the rest of it was I think a covid discount. Some of the deals last year at the start of covid before people started cashing out their supers to buy bikes were insane. I bought an ex demo SV650 about 10 months ago for $5.5k because the dealership was closing their site and had to clear out all their demo bikes. I sold it in December for $9250! I was tempted to keep it, but I couldn’t really ignore how much it had gone up in price. There was also a street triple demo 1/3 off that really I should have bought as I’d probably kept it, but I got discount fever with the SV lol

    • @MotoJournoKris
      @MotoJournoKris  Před 3 lety

      A bit more storage would be good, I didn't notice till I had the XMax which will take two full helmets with room to spare.

    • @Rally4Life1982
      @Rally4Life1982 Před 3 lety +1

      About one helmet and gloves. I can squeeze my pants in but its tight. The PCX125 storage was far more usable.

    • @MotoJournoKris
      @MotoJournoKris  Před 3 lety

      @@Rally4Life1982 I do reckon I'd probably put a top box on the NMax to expand the storage out a bit, if it was my daily commuter. It's good for leaving a helmet and gloves on the scoot, but I've been spoiled by the bigger options that will fit two full face with room to spare now.

    A very comprehensive review 👍
    Is the nmax capable of short stints on the freeway? Does it have enough grunt to get up to 105kph within the length of a typical freeway on-ramp?

    • @MotoJournoKris
      @MotoJournoKris  Před 3 lety +2

      That should be possible as long as you're not heading up a steep hill, and cruise around that 100km/h speed, but that's very high in the revs. With enough room and a bit of a downhill you can pick up more speed, but it's situational.

    • @jonpram1737
      @jonpram1737 Před 3 lety +2

      My Dunlop’s lasted about 2 months before they got swapped out to Michelin City Grips which come in the 110/70 r13 & 130/70 r13 sizes. SIGNIFICANTLY better wet weather performance, especially on the rear which used to get pretty squirrelly on the Dunlop’s when it rained
      It was the fastest I’ve ever changed out a set of tyres! I just really, really didn’t like the stock tyres in the rain at all. Outside the rain, the stock tyres were completely fine - had the scoot leaned all the way over to scrape the centre stand a few times with complete confidence in them, but yeah... in the rain those Dunlop’s were sketchy

    • @MotoJournoKris
      @MotoJournoKris  Před 3 lety

      @@jonpram1737 Yep, I'll normally just wear out the standards, but I really like something that I'm confident on in the wet as that tends to be where you want the extra confidence if you're an all-weather rider.

      Two up with about 300lb on board you do start to notice the effect that has on the power available and acceleration, but it's still pretty good for a little 155! But obviously we're talking in small capacity terms here.

      I only did a few short trips with a pillion and it did the job well, especially for a little 155cc. My pillion did prefer the XMax 300, but I think the NMax is still a good option, particularly for the price.
