    13:09 Jozef Barsi beat his family, threatened his daughter with a knife that if she and her mother didn't come back after filming he would murder them both, killed his own wife and daughter because he was jealous of her fame and the money she was making, lived in the house with the dead bodies and then set the house on fire and killed himself like a coward. And they made a joke about him helping with the reno. Seriously!? Judith never even got to see all dogs go to heaven because her father was an abusive alcoholic who was jealous of his own daughter talent so he killed her and her mother in cold blood and they make a joke about him! When I was in high school my family moved in to a house where the previous owner committed suicide. No one told us about it through the whole buying process. We found out about it 2 months after we moved in. A neighbor just casually mentioned "that poor man that killed himself in the attic."
      We only lived there a year or so. My mom was really freaked out by the whole thing. Especially since the door to the attic was in my parent’s bedroom. So every time she looked at the door she thought of that poor guy. She was also convinced he was haunting the house.
      If someone had come to the door pitching a show about it, my mom probably would have just moved in to a hotel until dad could get the house sold.

  • @nalinea18
    @nalinea18 Před 3 lety +113

    The problem with Quibi is simple:
    If you _want_ to watch only 5 minutes of your movie or series per day, you can still do that with Netflix or Amazon Prime or Crunchyroll or CZcams or whatever! They’ll even remember where you were when you stopped last time. So with any other platform you still have the _option_ of watching it Quibi-style.
    If you want to watch full movies or episodes or seasons in one go, you cannot really do that with Quibi. You have to go elsewhere.
    So what does Quibi _add_ that other streaming platforms cannot do? Nothing. What does Quibi _take away_ that other platforms can do? Your ability to choose how much you want to watch at one time. That’s a no from me and apparently a no from most other people as well.

    Quibi just seems like a stupid idea in general. There's a reason that TV shows and TV-esque series stick to 20-60 minute episodes, both shows with a running narrative and ones in which the episodes of non sequiturs. That runtime is enough time to set up what's gonna happen in the episode, let the main action piece or important story beats happen, and resolve everything. You can't do that effectively is and 6-8 minute episode. I think the people who made Quibi were probably thinking "these darn zoomers with their short attention span, always on their phones because they can't sit still and watch some good old-fashioned television"

    Weirdly enough, I think that Murder House Flip could work if they... make it longer?
    Like, make every episode a full 20 min episode instead of 5-8 minutes long.
    First episode is about the crime. Second episode is about how the owners got the house/their experiences with the house (?). Third episode is about the renovation.
    That way they would have enough time to dedicate to the crime and the renovation. The middle episode could work as a nice transition episode this way to the renovation portion.
    You'd still have 3 episodes per house this way and the general idea would still stand, but it'd... work better?

    • @galeforce3192
      @galeforce3192 Před 3 lety +29

      Honestly, with that idea, you might want to dedicate each episode to one house and just make 60-minute episodes. Yeah, people can watch the show on a streaming service and not worry about missing any episodes, but it just seems weird to have three-episode "arcs" on a home renovation series.

I was a bit young - maybe the full weight of it didn't register to me at the time, but the carpet in my parents' room had to be replaced because of blood stains.
    The carpet there didn't match the rest of the house's carpets for several years before they replaced the whole house's carpet.

Cause I know with many episodes built around binging format its hard to find a point to pause it to go and get a drink refill or something. Also double disappointed that Murder House Flip is so bad, because something that leaned in harder on that true crime and giving the homeowners a new start like you said sounds like it could be a super interesting show. I tend to avoid true crime because it makes me kind of sad, but this could have been something I'd have watched if it was given space to be more than a parody.
