This is an epitome of how to instruct using TPRS.

This is the best concept I heard today. I used to think the purpose of circling is repetition. Even though I use it for comprehension checking, too. This has completely changed my perspective of circling. Thanks! Martina.

Thanks for making this video. I’m pretty new to the idea of circling and when I first heard about it my initial thought was that it sounded boring if that’s all you did. Thanks for addressing what to do to not make it boring and putting in that good example!

Thank you so much for this video - it has helped me so much, but I do have a question @ it - do u do this with your students as you show them the video you are showing in the CZcams video? Or do you just do this with text in front of them?

I'm curious as to whether you ask your students to answer with complete sentences or simply yes/no

Awesome question! I NEVER require my students to answer with complete sentences. I accept whatever answer they are able to give- sometimes that's a gesture (in the beginning of Level 1), then yes/no, and sometimes a few words. Rarely complete sentences- but let's face it, when do we EVER respond to questions with complete sentences even in L1? It's not natural and it doesn't support acquisition. Thanks for asking!

I am a little confused since you are using English in your presentation and in the circling example with Brandon. In a real life class will you use Spanish for the activity?

I think she did it in English (presumably our shared language) so that any teacher of any L2 can see & understand the technique & apply it in their class.

So the students don't take notes. Do they are allowed to write at a later time?.

In TPRS they usually write at the end of the class. They basically have to write out the beats that they remember from the story and character info. Note taking during the class is considered to be too distracting.
