    1. Green tea
    2. Black tea
    3. Decaff green tea with ginseng (ginseng reduces inflammation)
    4. Matcha green tea (couple it with Lion's mane, stimulates brain activity)
    5. Chamomile tea, great for a long-term fast, before bed

There are some yummy flavors out there right now that both smell and taste great, and let me indulge in something wicked without fearing that it will end up showing later on my stomach and thighs. Of course, it is wise to check the ingredients and not add a ton of calorie-laden stuff to it - I like to use stevia to sweeten mine.

But I chose to drink the black tea instead because I enjoy it more and kept pushing off the green tea. So today I wound up just adding a little bit of the green matcha tea into my black tea. But it is only a little bit, where it won't over relax me, and overpower my black tea. Getting both the health benefits from the black and green tea. I also add cloves and cinnamon to my tea. It's a wonderful combination and tastes great and is very healthy.

hey thomas, the thing is if you deliver any foods/drinks to the stomach with macro or micro nutrients, it will trigger metabolism in the stomach and that will halt the fast. alot of people aren't aware of this but both black coffee and tea both has micro nutrients. very small traces, not alot but it's in there. coffee has < 1g of carb, protein, b2, b5, potassium, niacin, magnesium, manganese. tea has theanine(amino acid), b2, c, e, beta-carotene, folic acid, calcium, phosphorus, manganese, and potassium. initially i thought those were acceptable liquids to consume during a fast but then found out i was just cheating myself. a true fast is nothing but water, don't even put salt. or if you wanna do a hardcore fast like the muslims during ramadan--nothing at all during day but you can have water at night and do that for a month.

    • @Mikenoronha
      @Mikenoronha Před 5 lety +1

Exactly. Anything that you swallow breaks your fast and temporarily disrupts the process of autophagy and mitophagy. Sipping body-temperature water [98.6°F (37°C)] interferes the least with the process of autophagy and mitophagy. If the goal is for your body to cannibalize cellular debris and dysfunctional cells and mitochondria (i.e. enter into a deep autophagic state), and you're not willing/able to do a "dry" fast (no food and no water), then the science shows that you should stick to sipping body-temperature water throughout the day.

How about you start by Googling the following study: "Regulation of autophagy by amino acids and MTOR-dependent signal transduction" and learn to STFU until you've done the research for yourself.

+Thomas DeLauer I'm a massive fan, and your videos are really good at explaining the 'whys' of do (or not doing) stuff. I have been following a Keto Diet and combining it with intermittent fasting, and it seems to be working well, but do you have any videos explaining the best methods of GAINING bulk/muscle while on the Keto/IF diets? Is it simply a case of making sure that there is a calorie surplus at the end of the day while eating Keto-friendly? Thanks for your help in advance, and thanks for the videos!

I don't use sugar in my tea, I drink herbal teas. Right now my morning tea is a ginger, turmeric and peppermint blend that also has 2 tbs of acv.
    I do have some questions:
Did you know that you can soak nuts in a salty water to remove the phytic acid? I love sunflower seeds, but I also love lots of nuts and seeds, but need to get the most from them.

    Hi M.Delauer.
    What you do is amazing,
    KEEP DOING IT.
    I have 1 simple question:
    When i fast i drink
    black coffee
    And
    Black tea.
i didn't remember but it is actually black tea with a flavor of blueberry .
I went back to the store where I bought it and seller actually told me that it was dry pieces of blueberry and that it has no problem with my fasting protocol. But I'm not real sure because if it is actual blueberry pieces that are dry will it kick me out of my fasting.because fruit contain calories and calories kick you out of fasting right so simple question will my black blueberry flavored tea kick me out of fasting.
thank you very much for your time keep doing your amazing video.
Ps: is there a type of chewing gum that you can chew while fasting that won't kicks you out of your fast that you are aware that exist because I'm a big gum chewer.

Don't overstress about it! It's just fine! It won't break your fast and it has veryy little to almost no calories for you to worry about. Maybe 0,001 calories lol. Btw, your fast breaks after 50 calories ingested

Will Matcha tea break my fast since there is a gram of fiber (5 calories ) per serving. I'd like to drink this more often. But I start my day with coffee, and I'd like some matcha in the afternoon but I don't want to break my fast. Would that gram of fiber break the fast?

I think it really matters what you eat on those 2 days. I think if you eat a lot of sugar, fruit, and bread, it is going to be really much more difficult to go back. But if you focus on lots of vegetables, and non-sweet fruits like avocado, or peppers, then it won't be so hard.

Great video , but i recommend white tea over any regular green tea (not matcha)
White tea goes through the least possible amount of processing, allowing it to retain many of its powerful antioxidant compounds. White tea has less caffeine than green tea.
White tea is also believed to have slightly higher levels of polyphenols than green tea. Research has shown that this may give white tea an advantage over green tea as a cancer-preventing substance.

Attention please, Thomas DeLaur! May I please caution you when you say "Full-Leaded Matcha"! In recent years, it has been found that many producers of Matcha Green Tea have been found with heavier than normal traces of actual lead! Please be sure your viewers are avoiding "full leaded" versions of Matcha!

    • @axelmont

Also, some say matcha from China is more related with high lead than matcha from Japan.
