  • In this video, I discuss what lenses to get for your Sony a7SIII, especially if you are switching over from Canon, Panasonic, Fujifilm, etc. Contrary to the MYTH that Sony E-mount glass is expensive, these are versatile and won't break the bank!
    Here are the lenses I discussed:
    Sigma 24-70 DGDN: amzn.to/2Ps2nvI
    Tamron 28-75: amzn.to/33t3Fi6
    Tamron 17-28: amzn.to/2Dz5cIO
    Tamron 70-180: amzn.to/2Pr8255
    Sony FE 35 f1.8: amzn.to/3fu58af
    Sony 55 f1.8: amzn.to/2Xu5uaO
    Sony 24mm GM: amzn.to/3i9yEE8
    Sony 135GM: amzn.to/3icKUDP
    Sony 85mm f1.8: amzn.to/2Dnja0y

    Great video! I value your opinion. I’m still at a crossroads for the second zoom lens. I have the 24-70 gm but idk if I want to go wide or telephoto. I’m surprise you didn’t mention the sigma 14-24 which I think if I go wide, I’ll end up getting.

  • @fieldersvl
    @fieldersvl Před 3 lety

    VU, love your work and your approach and perspective on making films. I finally moved over to the A7S III with the Sigma 24-70 DN zoom (an amazing combo no doubt) from the Fuji X-T4 as you did. I know that you did the same based upon our brief exchange about it months ago. Consequently, I have a request of you. I still have my Sigma 18-35 f1.8 and 50-100mm f1.8 zooms that I utilized with a Fringer Pro II EF to X adapter to great effect. Of course they're both apsc lenses but since I had them around I decided to try them out with the A7SIII 4k mode with the Sigma MC-11 adapter. Of course when I put 18-35 on I got the expected vignetting (no surprise there) which isn't a problem because my Sigma 24-70 covers me there. However, strangely enough when I tried the 50-100 with the MC-11 adapter on the A7SIII I noticed that at 1.8 all vignetting disappeared throughout the entire zoom range with the exception of barely noticeable vignetting zoomed all the way out to 50mm (quite usable at 50mm). I made sure that clear image zoom was off. Is there something i'm missing or am I just crazy? If by chance you have either of the lenses and the MC-11 (esp 50-100) could you check to see what. your results are? Inquiring minds want to know. Thanks

Thanks!

  • @dwmspace
    @dwmspace Před 4 lety

    Agree with all your points but like to add I think it’s also worth mentioning that image stabilized lenses have their value. Unforunately only Sony seems to be able to offer that and at a premium. Sure, if you’re using a gimbal it’s not needed but for some natural looking hand held video and for stills, it makes a great difference. For example I’d pick the Batis 85mm 1.8 over an 85mm 1.4 with no IS.

And it is a somewhat confusing world to explore, FE E-mount lenses. Actually I was a bit surprised by the lack of alternatives and variety and the usual high prices. For instance, there is little choice regarding a "nifty fifty" lens, specially if one wants something light and small, no aberration, and good AF. Just a comment on your video: it would be easier to follow if you wrote the names and features of the lenses, as with all this new terminology it is hard to follow, at least for me.

    Hey I’m confused when I Googled what mount the Sony a7s iii is it said E mount however you said to stay away from the E ( mount) lens b/c they’re for APs/c cameras not full frame like the a7s iii; to make sure to buy the FE lens. Are the terms contextual

    • @nVuFilms
      @nVuFilms  Před 3 lety +1

      E-mount is one mount. When you buy a lens, e mount and fe mount fits the a7sIII. E-mount is apsc lens which is cropped. Fe mount is for full frame. It's the same mount, but for different sensor size. The standard e mount because it's crop lens will crop the footage from a7sIII causing a vignette.

    I have the following three Samyang lenses with autofocus from the Tiny series 18mm.f.2.8 and 45mm.f.1.8 plus 75mm.f.1.8, they are small and do not weigh very much and they are cheap, plus the image quality is also good. I also know that not many people consider Samyang as a serious manufacturer for Sony FE-mount (can of course also be used for Sony E-mount), but they are wrong, so maybe more people should look at Samyang when considering a purchase of a lens .....
