(Spoiler) - - - The freezer van driver is the head butcher who formerly worked at Honest Goro, but left because his ego was too big to handle Hanako telling him what to do. On a last-ditch attempt to sabotage Honest Goro, him and the former manager (the passenger) tried to steal all the meat from HG. Hanako found out and sneaked inside the van, but got trapped.

I don't know enough about dekotora to have a sense of this, maybe you can find out... but the movie is from 1996 and the game is from 1998, so if anything it'd be the other way around! But I have a sense it's some "famous" truck from the previous decade or two popularized elsewhere.
@@elipandaman there is a famous movie series in Japan that tell the story about dekotoras and, for what I know, it became a success . But the movie is from 1975 and this truck in the scene above is from 90's decade, so they're not related 😔. Maybe someday we'll discover if there is relation between this movie above and the game! Well is nice to reveal some curiosities that connects 😁

still more powerful than most econobox that makes 90hp these days

They are not common per se. More so used as generic names like John Smith or Mary Smith.
