- I'm Aja Dang and I'm showing you to 2020 Financial Trackers. Visual Roadmaps were extremely helpful on debt free journey and now that I'm moving on to savings and retirement, I'm hoping it will continue to give me inspiration.
I'm on Baby Step 3 of Dave Ramsey's infamous baby steps so now it's time to cement my financial stability. My goals are to fully fund my sinking fund, build up my emergency savings fund of 3-6 months of expenses and start saving for retirement/down payment on a home/wedding. Eek, just reading that is giving me anxiety!
I'll go more into depth about retirement and house goals when I reach that point but right now, we are trying to aggressively reach my savings goal. We are almost there guys.

Hey! Just wanted to clarify. My personal emergency fund comes out to about $30,000 for 5 months but I added $10,000 for an emergency fund for the dogs.
@abc stv no I haven't
Aja Dang do you have different savings accounts for different sibling funds? Or just one account to hold all? Also do you think it’s necessary to have a separate personal savings fund aside from the emergency fund?
sunsizzle33 that’s a good question! I hope she responds! I have one big savings for emergencies but I feel like I need another savings for other things.
Aja, hey, what kind of camera do you use?
Just wondering if you have pet insurance?? In the uk it’s very common I have always had it for my animals and it has saved me a lot of money at the vets. I pay around £20 a month
I PAID OFF MY STUDENT LOANS TWO HOURS AGO 😭😭😭😭😭. I Started my journey in Jan 1st 2018 ($48,000) with you and i cant believe im on the other side of it. I've been thinking about "what's next" for weeks and this video couldn't have come at a better time!
2020 goals: $15k emergency fund, $10k car fund started for when my baby dies on me
Alexis Wright CONGRATS!!! that’s so awesome!
OMG that's so exciting!!! congrats!!
Congratulations!! So proud of you!
Congratulations!! That's absolutely amazing!!
Congratulations 🙌 🎉💵🍾
Aja: I want to save 200k
Me, a Georgian: oh wow she's gonna buy a house in cash 😍
Aja, Californian: for the down payment
My townhouse (4 bedroom, 2 1/2 baths) in VA $132k

@@ellapanda1425 lol I live in DC and it would be $600K+ in NoVA
I could listen to you talk about finances all day!
Literally same lol
You and me both !!
Me too!
Same hereeeee!!!
I’m a full-time college student working 30 hours/week at $10/hour (above minimum wage here) and I’m hoping to save $10k this year!!
Yes you go for it!!!
Go girl do it! Wish I had saved my money in college instead of blowing it, you’re ahead of the curve. Keep going!
My husband and I had a wedding with 35 guests and paid 5,000 dollars five years ago. We just paid off our house last week and are completely debt free! Our goal is to pay for a new car by the summer.
My wedding was $5,000 and it was so much fun and intimate. You don't need to spend an exorbitant amount on a one-day ceremony but again, it's up to you and Brian. :)
where were you in the comment section of that video?! haha. Most people said they spent around 30-60k
Saira Rab exactly. I personally think weddings tend to be way over priced than what they need to be. People get so caught up in having a Pinterest perfect wedding but they fail to realize most of those “weddings” are staged by multiple vendors as a way to display their services.
@@kayseacamp I agree! I'd love to just have a simple ceremony with really close family and friends and use the rest of the money for traveling :)
HININA right? I love the concept of smaller elopement style ceremonies with only like 10 ppl TOPS and then not even having to stress about crazy planning.
We also spent around that much. I found a white evening gown at Nordstrom that I fell in love with for $300, my partner bought his suit at J.Crew for around $600, tailoring for both was around $400, we had the ceremony at our favorite dispersed camping spot ($0), rented a house for family and friends for the weekend ($800), had our reception at our favorite pizzeria & taproom (~$1400), and the DIY decor, flowers, table clothes were around $1200.
So proud of you for keeping interested in good financial practices after being debt free 😭
Just sprinkled that Aja Dang Planner in there like it isn't a big deal. Girl, I am so ready for your planner. This is like the best news I've had all week lol.
hopefully! It's become a more difficult process than I thought.
@@AjaDang you can do it!
I can't imagine inviting my friends to my wedding that they'd need to save $5K for...
I find it very selfish. I could never do that to people unless I happened to have only rich friends which I don't. I had to struggle once to pay 500$ for a bridesmaid dress for a friend who was very wealthy and that was pocket change for her. I will never struggle again for anyones wedding.
Me too I find that topic disturbing
I can understand this but also for the most part destination weddings tend to be smaller and the couple will usually give plenty of advance notice and also the wedding gets treated as a vacation by those attending. But also I do get that maybe those people are saving their vacation time for something else so yeah a destination wedding can be tricky for the couple and the attendees
I just had a conversation based on the financial burden some weddings have on their bridesmaids. They expect you to pay for your own dress and flight if it is out of the city. I believe that if the bride is wealthy that she/he could help assist with the expenses
Agreed. Our wedding was in the home city of all of my bridesmaids and maid of honour, so they all had the option of staying with their parents, but chose to stay at the hotel we had for the reception. Their choice so they paid for it. But for the dress, I gave them money for the dresses. Had them chose it as long as it was the same colour. They all have different body shapes so they needed different types of support and that was the best solution for them. I could never expect my loved ones to be out of pocket to celebrate my day with me.
In 2020 I’ll be helping my mum pay off their parent plus college loan in February after 13 yrs of making payments on and off. I paid my student loan off myself then started helping my parents. Feeling like we’re getting close to the finish line 🏁 of the longest marathon.
You can talk all day long about money , and I can actually listen listen with focus and be inspired to be financially healthy :) THANK YOU 😀
I’m 21 and finally took finansial safety very seriously so in 2020 I’m gonna save for 6 months of expences so I can feel safe and sound when it comes to money. I also think that every women whether in relationship or not should be able to take care of herself. Asja I really like Your videos, it’s really motivating and helpful😘
I wish I had started at your age. Good for you! You will have a bright future. Not saving earlier is my only regret.
I'm in this journey as well for 2020
My goal for 2020 is to lower my loans to under $45k. Currently at $70k but it’s gone down from $110k when I started in July 2017.
That's awesome progress
congrats!
That's great progress!
That’s amazing, keep it up!! You got this!!
That’s amazing
Aja has taught me not to impose a location wedding on friends and family
seriously. I've always wanted to get married back home in Hawaii but it will probably be LA since I know the financial burden of a destination wedding.
What do you do when all your family lives in different places, so even having a wedding near your home is a "destination wedding" for them?
@@liveybeha Skype
@@liveybeha I’ve been thinking about that too for my own wedding. I’ve decided I will have my wedding where I want (Oahu where I was born and raised and where I met my boyfriend). There are people on his side of the family that live in the south, so we will give them as much notice as possible (over a year) and also be prepared to help them with accommodations or other expenses bc we REALLY want them to be there. It will be a smaller wedding, less than 100 people. So that will help with the out of pocket for us, while having the “wedding of my dreams” in a sense.
holy moly...5k for a friends' wedding! That's a whole lot of money and this is in no way a comment on how you choose to spend your money. I just had no idea that's what it could cost to attend a wedding.
same thoughts exactly
@@helennguyen6691 👀 that's A LOT!
Does she need to travel to the wedding?
I’m saving for my 200 hour yoga teacher certification 🧘🏾♀️
my beset friend got that done!
Word of advice - skip the wedding and elope with a gorgeous honeymoon. The emotional stress and distraction planning a wedding is not worth it, I have honestly never met any woman (IRL) who was happy with their wedding. If my parents were not paying for the entire wedding I would not be planning one. Going on a fabulous honeymoon will do more for your relationship than any wedding ever will. It's not about money, it's about emotional time and effort and a lot of times it only puts strains on Ur relationship rather than helping it grow.
i am thinking the same...lets save $60 000 by not getting married
@@JacquouilleLaFripouille it will benefit your relationship much more. You dont even have to save all of it, if you wanted to, you could spend $10k travelling Europe together and elope overseas 😍 you and Ur hubby will have beautiful memories, no family drama and u will feel secured because u know u have savings.
@@iw1459 I think about this all the time, now that I've been with the love of my life for quite some time now. However, we both come from traditional Asian families with similar upbringings where the wedding is such a huge, inclusive event for both families to participate in. Trust me, I wish I could elope and spend money on such honeymoon alone...but I'd feel regretful not including our families in this special occasion. Anyone else feel this guilt?
I really enjoyed our wedding. We kept it simple, small, and at $5,000. It was lovely!
“For an unfortunate house...” feel that!!
Girl, you got this!! This level of focus and determination will absolutely get you places... and you’re doing it all in the right order. 1. Pay off all debt (which you did, so congrats!) 2. Save up emergency fund (3-6 mos worth) 3) Fund your retirement in tax savings vehicles like 401k or IRAs 4) Save separately and on top of retirement for investments such as real estate 5) Keep paying yourself first (i.e., savings) and then invest in growing and learning (classes, hobbies, travel, etc). I took this approach right after college and I wrote down EVERYTHING to keep myself motivated and focused, just like you’re doing. I’m 40 now and my channel is full of videos talking about designer handbags but that’s just frivolous fun I have to not take life too seriously. The full story is, financial freedom first, then you can play! And even when it comes time to play, always live below your means and be grateful for what you have. 😉 You got this!! I’ll be cheering you on from the other side of the screen!!! (PS - I would advise a lower wedding budget and live it up on your honeymoon!) Wishing you and all your subscribers a healthy and prosperous 2020!!! 😘
From someone getting married this January, my fiance and I initially planned to have a small nice wedding, but we canceled that plan to elope(with our family!). In total we are spending about $1,200 for our elopement, mostly for a nice photographer, and I would highly recommend it if you are reeling back about the cost of a small wedding(to anyone reading this!). It gets expensive, FAST. For us personally, it was not worth the money. We are instead going on a nice honeymoon abroad :) It may be something to consider if you want to look into it and would rather spend money on a nice honeymoon, save more for your downpayment, etc...
Of course, i'm not wedding shaming! I totally understand if you and Brian absolutely want to do a small wedding, because it is important to most. It personally was not important to us. Honestly, we just wanted a nice elopement spot, and great professional photos of us on our special day with family!
To anyone out there feeling wedding stressed and not wanting to do a traditional wedding(but feeling the pressure to)- You don't have to simply go out to the court house all lack-luster. You can still have a special day without spending $30k+, and with your friends and family. :)
actually, I would ideally love to go to the courthouse and get married (though in a custom designed suit :) ) but I think it's important for Brian that he has all his people invited.
@@AjaDang totally get it :) ❤
This is something I want to do. Not elope necessary but have a smaller, less expensive wedding and then spend the big savings on that honeymoon
I just need to say I love how real you are. You just let the cursing fly 💞
I am planning to save enough to buy my mom her dream car by July 2020. It's gonna be great seeing her reaction!!
I could listen to you talk about budgets all day everyday honestly. Thank you for your transparency, it makes a difference for all of us struggling to adult as well!!!
I am moving next year! I’m going to pay of my credit card debt, move across the country, and start my new life :) in
Good luck on your new life!
This was so helpful! I've been following you for a while, and am very lucky to not have any debt myself, however have loved your content! But seeing your steps forward now you are moving to the next steps has me thinking about my own retirement and savings! 🥰 Appreciate your videos so much
I love how your so realistic, and always consider what you would do If Brian isn’t there! Life happens !
hey aja hey!
girl..you’re always on top of your game =)
i needed this video right now.
my 2020 financial tracker.
i’m on it.
thanksies aja!
Maybe just cross out your gym category & change it to “car repair & replace”...that way you have SOMETHING saved up in case you need new tires or whatever. And if you don’t use it, you have a little bit started for a new car
that's a great idea
so true, 1,500 just like that , inspection, registration, tunes ups, and new tires all need to get done this week.
Love the visualization. I do both journaling and tracking in a google sheet to stay on top of my financial goals. I finished paying off my credit cards in 2019. I immediately began paying my student loans and paid off 25%! My goals for 2020 is to finish paying off my student loans, top off my emergency fund and hopefully be able to buy a home.
I love your spirit...Thanks for your inspiration. Getting life right for 2020.
You promote so many great financial habits. Thanks for being a good role model especially when you mention simple temptations and staying true to your financial goals.
I’ve been binge watching your financial journey videos for a couple weeks now and it’s so inspiring. I feel more in control of my life and money then I have in the past. Having transparency with myself and my money has been game changing! 😁👍🏾💵
Always after two minutes watching your videos, i have to see my budget, plan more, you put me in action! I love your vibe! You are going to be an excelent Host!
1st video of this kind that was actually transparent and not requiring a fine art degree thank you.
You inspired me to take my savings more seriously and make a bullet journal 💕💕💕
girl! i could not have come across this video and you at a better time! thanks for all the suggestions and tips. 2020 IS the year I'll be debt free. congrats on paying off your debts!!!!
One of my favorite Aja videos!! 🔥 I love that you are continuing to take us on your financial journey! Thank you!
This is so soothing and encouraging! I really enjoy watching your financial videos when I'm feeling discouraged. 😊
You inspired me to get a bullet journal and plan out my financial goals for 2020 - the big ones are paying off my student loan and saving up for a down payment on a property. This video has been so helpful, thanks!!! And congrats on paying off your debt! 😁
You have inspired me tremendously to pay off debt especially my 150k student loan (argh!). My 2020 budget is ready. You rock!!!
I'm so glad I found you because I'm ready to pay off my $140,000 student loans from nursing school and start a personal emergency fund in 2020. I just bought the passion planner, copy and paste your budget template, and I'm ready to learn more about financial freedom. I will be following you and watching your previous videos for tips and tricks in financial tracking.
I'm so glad I came across your channel! Myself and husband's goals for 2020 is to pay off debt, save 3-6 months of expenses, and buy at least one new car since we have a baby on the way!
One of the best gifts I've ever received didn't cost anything. Your time and attention are more valuable than you may realize. Especially for a kid needing someone to look up to.
Aja thank you so much for this video!! I’ve been struggling with how to plan for all of 2020 and this video was so helpful ✨😭💕
My big saving goals for next year is to save for a property we have been wanting to build our forever home. We purchased our first starter home 8 years ago and our house is almost paid off. We purchased when economy was down. Now we can get triple the valve for it. Perks of living in Texas 😉 home prices are not crazy. We have our vehicles paid off and my bachelors program is being paid out of pocket. My husband and I were married super young (we were 19) and I think about it today and I would not have changed my small wedding that costs us about $2000 that’s including dress and wedding bands 😂 🙌🏻. It was small and at the time is all we could afford. My sister had her wedding last year and their budget was high. She mentioned she felt that she couldn’t enjoy her wedding because of the preparations up to the wedding and the day of. They (bride and groom) kept getting pulled away constantly that she didn’t get to enjoy it. What was worth it was her honeymoon to Bora Bora
Thank you Aja for sharing your financial goals! In 2020 I look forward to purchasing my certified used car in cash without financing a penny. I am looking forward to walking into the dealership without fear of having a loan and happiness I've achieved this savings goal!
I can’t wait for your planner!!
By the end of next year I hope to be halfway to being debt free. I recently took the jump into a couple of creative projects and I hope to get there through these new ventures. Congrats again to you Aja!
You're perfect! 😭😭 much appreciation and love for the vids!
Can’t wait to see your planner you come out with!!
Thank you. Your fill in tracking ideas gave me something cute to do with my planner
You have given people a gift that changes their lives
I've only recently found out about your channel. I appreciate all the help! It is of extreme value!
Definitely ordering your planner!! So excited that you are adding financial planning to daily/life planning 🙌🏼

YES. I WOULD LOVE A PLANNER FROM YOU!!
Got the passion planner for 2019 because you always talk great things about it and I love it! I have already bought one for the new year. Def helped me achieve a good chunk of my goals!

You’ve inspired me and really helped me see the light out of school debt. Thank you!!!
So excited for your planner to come out next year!!
Loved hearing about your savings goals! It’s so nice to see you moving onto more fun ways to save your money!
The amount of money you guys have to pay in the US for health insurance is really scary!!!!
@A F It is completely free in my country and even if I wanted to pay for a private insurance to choose my doctor's it would be 600€ per year. I have a scholarship in New York and one of the reasons that is holding me back is health insurance 🙈🙈🙈
I GASPED when she said $300 a month for "very basic" health insurance 😧
@@catestaples2510 same!!!! I wouldn't be able to afford anything!!!!
The amount of money you can easily make in US counters all that. As long as you're not a lazy fuck is easy to make plenty of money...
I paid upwards to over $120 for health/dental/ (vision)? insurance when I worked too . It's so expensive ! But when you think about the cost of an Emergency Room ER visit it could be verrry costly. I worked for a office .
Thank for continuing this financial series ! You keep me motivated !
Great info...I had a chunk of cash in the credit union and i was close to paying off a rental. I told the lady I had the itch to go buy a new car because mine is getting old. She looked at me and said “ keep driving it don’t break it and save your money. That was two of my three paid off rentals ago. I’m a year away from paying the last off the last rental. True story.
Can't wait to hear more about your potential future planner!
Hey Aja! Girl, I just watched your videos last night, and I’m in love with your style! Love these budget videos and so happy you paid off your debt. Can you please make a video about how you started to get the brand deals and other income you have now? And mindmap it the way you’re doing now. It will be really helpful. Anyway, keep doing ya! ❤️
Aja, you are absolutely creative! Just look at this valuable content you create and share with the world!
Can’t wait to check out that planner. On to mapping out my budget for 2020. Thanks for the inspiration!
I’ll pre-order your planner! I am excited!
Wow yes! 2Gs that's big time. Planning's so great 😍 #dreamingoutloud
First of all, I need to saving money so that I can preorder your planner! Really excited to hear that you are planning to do this. And the other thing I want to save money for in 2020, is moving out and getting a place for myself. I have had the desire to do this for a few years now, but because my college wasn't going great and I was/am struggling with mental health problems, I haven't been able to do this.
Very inspirational!! Best wishes to 2020!!
Thank you for sharing! I never had a financial tracker and all the calculation was done impromptu. I'm motivated to set my saving goals after watching your videos :D
Can’t wait for her planner to come out. I am already saving for it! 😄😊
You 👏🏻 Go 👏🏻 Girl 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
My 2020 financial goals are to finally finish paying off our (my) student loans 🙌🏻, a 3-4 month emergency fund, and save up for a decent used car (my 2006 Sentra is not going to last forever 😅). Then put the rest in a 401k and house down payment.
that's a lot a goals to accomplish!
I love the visual roadmap. It provides a great picture to your progress. Definitely plan on incorporating this into my financial journey.

Thank you! You have inspired me! Your amazing! Go Girl! ❤️
By end of 2020, I want to have 4 months worth of emergency fund. My plan is to keep on increasing this amount which I'll use as a buffer and for rent downpayments when my dream of moving to another country happens.
Thank you for inspiring me, Aja! I'm also on my journey to financial freedom. Splurging a little bit on gifts for lovedones this Christmas season but all in line with my budget and going back to a stricter budget in 2020. Bought a passion planner and will also try to make a visual roadmap. ❤❤
Hi Aja, watching you keep me motivated to stay on my financial journey. My goal of 2020 is to finish baby step number 2.
I have been very inspired by your journey. You're doing great! Its a stressful time of year financially and otherwise so I can't imagine not being paid. Good on you keeping it together and continuing to hustle. Just wanted to send a little love your way coz Ive been so proud of your vulnerability and honesty. I'm learning lots from you.
I say that and yet today is my last day of paid work too! Im also self employed! Maybe that's why I'm so inspired by you!
Thank you Aja for your 2020 planning ! I was thinking about getting a planner because I am also independent contractor and making goals and reaching for a to-do list is easily looked passed since I need more of a motivation to reach goals. Girl boss !
This video was great and super helpfull and inspiring for me! Will definitely also do this visual type of tracking for all my financial goals of 2020!
we need to do a 2020 plan! love it!. good luck! hope the wedding budget was helpful.
Wow this really inspired me to do financial tracking now. I used to do monthly budget tracker but I totally missed on the emergency savings that way. 😍 thank you!
I'm a freelancer and a newbie in saving big ammounts of money. I just started a self-made budget planner and this video has plenty of tips I will use - emergency fund tracker, house savings tracker. I want a dog or a cat, so I also need to start saving for the pet. Btw, Lucky the dog is so cute. Great job, Aja
i am currently in medical school right now and hearing about other people's financial goal makes me so jealous but also inspiring
This is an awesome video. I’m definitely going to use that idea make some trackers to pay off my debt!
cant wait for your planner
I love ❤️ your emergency savings funds !!
I am saving towards that as we speak too !!

I am not sure what amount I need but $40K sounds about right for me too for a year for myself !!
Thank you Aja...love the trackers...
This is fascinating. Thank you for your transparency!
I started my debt free journey last January 2018 after I watched your first budget videos and I just finished paying off my last student loan last Friday. So happy I can finally start saving money and stop paying debt! Thank you for always being inspiring. I can’t wait until your planner comes out!
ayyyee! CONGRATS!
Your planner is so cute! I’m so inspired 😊
I have used Passion Planners for 3 years now. Excited for your planner version incorporating finances!! 😊
I hope to save up enough money to support my living expenses during grad school (if I get in) so that any additional TA jobs I (hopefully) have can go directly to my tuition.
One thing I wish my husband and I did: use most of the the money from the wedding for a down payment on a house, with remaining money set aside for a bomb ass honeymoon and a private ceremony in our...wait for it...new home lol. At least the best thing we did for ourselves was have the wedding paid in full and it was the most beautiful, intimate, and cost effective wedding ever. You what works for you!
On another note: you are a boss and such an inspiration! Do you boo! The things I wish I knew five years ago smh. Anyways, I'm focusing on debt freedom and between you and Dave Ramsey, it's going to happen. Thank you for being you and not only living your truth but sharing it with the world!
Great video! I'll be making these financial trackers for myself.
