I had a 2000 Mazda 626 4-cylinder 5-speed and it is still to this day the best car I have ever owned that thing NEVER broke down not once and owned it for 6+ years I drove it hard every day. Man I miss that thing good times for sure.

yeah volvo comes off to me as an actual quality car, Mazda comes off as a cheap alternative. a mazda with a smashed bumper why?
Well... Volvo uses european Ford motors and suspension parts, probably other Ford parts bin stuff too...
Now maybe it's because I live in South Africa, but I'd rather buy a Mazda.
Both brands have a dealer network here, but Mazda spares cost a lot less, and there's less car drama with the 3 guys at work who drive Mazda 3 & CX3, than the one who has a new Fiesta...
oh and the sales guy who bought a new Volvo C30 T3 18 months ago... he's driving a Golf TSI now.
