People are so lazy they come here to slander Islam based on the "Alexander Romance" only they come to learn that's not the title of an actual book. Pseudo-Callisthenes is the title of a real book but is useless for using re: Dhu al-Qarnain as the relevant material is not in it. The material theories are based on is called "A Christian legend Concerning Alexander" and is from manuscripts no older than the 1700's of clearly post Islamic origin. It's appended to the Syriac translation of Pseudo-Callisthenes but isn't part of that work. It exists in no other language, doesn't seem to have been famous at any time.

When the Hebrew Bible was translated to Arabic "Bal Ha Qarnaim" was translated to "Dhu al-Qarnain" exactly as it appears in the Qur'an. It is the almost if not unanimous opinion of Jewish and Christian commentators that "Master of the Two Horns" aka Dhu al-Qarnain mentioned in Daniel 8 :20 was Cyrus of Persia or Darius or both. Alexander is the "Seir (hairy goat-man)" of Daniel 8:20, a word also referring to a demon of the desert. The proof exists and is ignored by scholars who prefer to pretend that Dhu ul-Qarnain could possibly be Iskandar the pagan son of Ammon.

This is why the actual identity of Dhu al-Qarnayn has never been something we feel the need to know. We are satisfied with what the Qur'an says. Had ibn Kathir read the Arabic book of Daniel he'd have known WHAT BOOK, instead he's content to know he was mentioned in the books of the Jews, without confirming it. This is what Islam haters and hyper zealous Xtian apologists don't understand, the desire to know more than we can know is a form of greed.

Pseudo-Callisthenes does not have the Gog and Magog episode. Alexander Romance is purely a academic term, useless in truth.
"The strangeness of the Alexander Romance (not actual title the writer is talking about pseudo-Callisthenes) invites commentary. The oldest Greek version, the so-called ‘alpha recension’ preserved in a unique MS from the 11 th century, professes to be the true story of Alexander’s life when it is in fact a novelistic biography. Its three books throw the king into a stream of hyperreality, mixing stories and literary tropes from many cultures, above all Egypt and Greece. To take just one of many examples, the Egyptian Nectanebus―Pharaoh, magician, charlatan―travels incognito to Macedon, seduces Olympias and fathers the future king. Another strange aspect is the date of composition. The Alexander Romance can be variously dated between the third century BC (Stoneman) and the fourth century AD (Kroll) because of its constituent parts, some of which are early Hellenistic, and others late imperial. Moreover, even the very name of the author is dubious.1 The conventional name of ‘Pseudo-Callisthenes... "

Also too late, shockingly so, to be used as evidence. This is why people of the opinion that Dhu ul-Qarnain was Alexander are biased. First Dhu al-Qarnain (Bal HaQarnaim in Hebrew) is mentioned in the Book of Daniel which has an additional prophecy where Alexander is said to be the horn of a he-goat. The two horned (qarnain) ram and it's "master/bal/dhu" are always identified in the prophecy with the kingdom of the Persians. The context of the whole matter is that the Jews and Quraish desired to and failed to test the Prophet of God, one of the questions was a request for information about Dhu al-Qarnain, who again is someone from Hebrew literature.

1700's is definitely too late to be actual evidence. I suspect when claiming the hypothesis about Alexander that academics will avoid most of the facts about the manuscript tradition. Ignore the lateness of the Syriac on account of it's the hypothetical origin (so they pretend) of Yuj and Majuj in the Alexander Romance.
Which, it seems, is absent from the earliest manuscripts. Again this is not favorable to the academics' hypothesis which seems more like mischief to me.

@@GhettoDetective It seems the oldest Greek manuscript does not have the Gog and Magog episode. And is 11th century.
The strangeness of the Alexander Romance invites commentary. Moreover, even the very name of the author is dubious.1 The conventional name of ‘Pseudo-Callisthenes

@@GhettoDetective Additionally it is theorized that the episode with Yuj and Majooj originates in the Syriac version (oldest manuscripts are 1700's) and so does not appear in earlier versions such as Julius Valerius res gestae Alexandri Macedon, said to be a Latin translation of the Greek original.
Simply put it is a late interpolation, blamed on the Syrian Christians for interpolating it into the original of Fake-Callisthenes. When this happened is left to speculation, the manuscript evidence does not suggest it happened before the Qur'an, by the rules of evidence it would seem the Qur'an is the source as the oldest extant manuscript evidence.

Verse 3. "And I lifted up my eyes and saw." Yet of course one only sees in dreams things which appear as shadowy representations, naturally, and as mere likenesses, rather than our being able to behold the reality of the objects themselves (C).
"And behold, a ram stood in front of the swamp (or: in front of the gate ---- the word being UBAL in the Hebrew), having lofty horns, one of which was higher than the other and growing yet larger." He calls Darius, Cyrus's uncle, a ram. He reigned over the Medes after his father, Astyages. And the one horn which was higher than the other, and growing still larger, signified Cyrus himself, who succeeded his maternal grandfather, Astyages, and reigned over the Medes and Persians along with his uncle, Darius, whom the Greeks called Cyaxeres.
Verse 4. "After this I saw the ram pushing with its horns westward (D) and northward and southward...." Not that he saw the ram itself, that is, the ram of Cyrus or Darius, but rather the ram of the same kingdom as theirs, that is, the second Darius, who was the last king of the Persian power, and who was overcome by the king of the Macedonians, Alexander the son of Philip. And as to the fact that Darius was a very powerful and wealthy king, both the Greek and the Latin and the barbarian historical accounts so relate.
Verse 5. "And I myself understood. ..." On the basis of the previous visions which had symbolized the second kingdom by the ram and the he-goat, Daniel now also understood that he was looking at the empire of the Medes and Persians.
"And behold, there was a he-goat which was coming from the West above the surface of the whole earth, and yet without touching the ground. ..." So that no one will think that I am attaching a private interpretation to this, let us simply repeat the words of Gabriel as he explained the prophet's vision. He said, "The ram whom thou sawest to possess two horns is the king of the Medes and Persians." This was, of course, Darius the son of Arsames, in whose reign the kingdom of the Medes and Persians was destroyed. "There was in addition a he-goat, who was coming from the west," and because of his extraordinary |85 speed he appeared not to touch the ground. This was Alexander, the king of the Greeks, who after the overthrow of Thebes took up arms against the Persians. Commencing the conflict at the Granicus River, he conquered the generals of Darius and finally smashed against (674) the ram himself and broke in pieces his two horns, the Medes and the Persians. Casting him beneath his feet, he subjected both horns to his own authority.
Alexander is the goat, the Two-Horned aka Dhu al-Qarnain is the King of Persia and Media according to most commentators regardless of faith.

It is possible that Cyrus the Great is the Dhul Qarnain mentioned in the Qur'an. History of his wars is in accordance with the Qur'anic narrations. He first went west to war Lydia in Ancient Asia Minor, currently Turkey, north of which is the Black Sea, the sun setting on its murky waters. He was victorious against his enemy Croesus, forgave him and made him one of his close military advisers. Then he went East of the civilized world, to Gedrosia, currently Balochistan, and there was the desert and found there people who had no shelter from the sun and rain. Beyond Gedrosia was the Indus River. Then he went to fight the Neo Babylonians (present-day Iraq) and freed the Israelites allowing them to return to Jerusalem and freely practice their religion. It is because of this that the Israelites asked the Prophet about Dhul Qarnain. After that he went north, not to the Caucasus mountain range, but to the East of the Caspian Sea, the present-day Tajikistan, in Amu Darya region. There he fought and won against the Proto-Scythians (red-haired, blue eyed white people) and Proto-Sarmatians (flat-faced, slit eyed mongolian/Chinese people). They are the people of Yajuj and Majuj. They specifically belong to three specific groups of people of that time, that of Tarees (Tam-Ra-Ish/ Tomyris), of the Misk (people of Issyk-Kul Lake), and Tawool (Tengri Too or currently Tian Shan mountain range). These are from places known today as Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyztan and Xinjiang China. Somewhere in these places they are imprisoned by the wall of Dhul Qarnain, in a maze of mountain caves stretching to the Ural mountains going up north. When the vanguard of the army of Yajuj and Majuj are in Sham (Syria), the rear of their army will still be in Khurasan (Afghanistan). This is because from their location they will go down south to Khurasan (Afghanistan) to Sham (Syria). As they are described, they are a nation of warriors of exceptional savagery and exceptionally tall people. It is possible that they and the wall of Dhul Qarnain is in the highest peak of the Tian Shan mountain range which is Khan Tengri, or in Jengish Chokusu mountain, all in Kyrgyztan, according to the narrations of some people who have seen it (as the "highest structure" in the mountains), asked the Prophet about it and was confirmed by him, looking like a wall of stripes of red (copper color) and black (iron) color.
According to Islamic traditions, Dhul Qarnain is a black man. If Cyrus the Great is indeed the Dhul Qarnain of the Qur'an, then he and his family are of African ancestry ruling Persia and the rest of the civilized world that time. Allah knows best.

It's interesting how similar this is to these verses from the book of Daniel:
8:3 I looked up and saw a ram standing beside the river. It had two horns. Both horns were long, but one was longer than the other, and the longer one came up second. 4 I saw the ram charging WESTWARD and NORTHWARD and SOUTHWARD. All BEASTS WERE POWERLESS TO WITHSTAND it, and no one could rescue from its power; it did as it pleased and became strong.
20 As for the ram that you saw with the two horns (Dhu al-Qarnayn), these are the kings of Media and Persia.
The two horns here represent the kings of Media and Persia. The first king is Dhu al-Qarnain or Master of the two horns.

Dhul Qarnayn was one of the smartest person who walked on this Earth. He was blessed with knowledge and means by Allah.
To understand Dhul Qarnayn you need to focus on all 3 journeys in Surah Kahf.
Setting/Ending point of sun, Rising/Birth point of sun and finally between 2 nebulae to Planet/Moon near Gog/Magog planet. Also try to research where did Dhul Qarnayn/Hazrat Khidr AS went in search of Fountain of Life (7th Heaven). Then put everything together. Dhul Qarnayn met Abraham PBUH then went to 7th heaven with Khidr AS. Then he came back and left for 3 journeys mentioned in Surah Kahf. Meanwhile, Hazrat Khidr met Moses PBUH but Dhul Qarnayn did not. When he returned from his 3 journeys, 500-1000 years passed on Earth and so he came back and lived with Jews. Hence the name Dhul Qarnayn: Man of Two Centuries. This is why Jews knew about him and were seeking his portals knowledge to travel to other planets/heavens. Allah knows best.
until he reached the setting ˹point˺ of the sun, which appeared to him to be setting in a spring of murky water, where he found some people. We said, “O Ⱬul-Qarnain! Either punish them or treat them kindly.”
    Quran Surah Kahf 18:86
Ainin Hamiya = Dark Murky Spring = Spring of Dark Matter = Black Hole
Quran Surah Yasin (36:38) The sun is running its course to its appointed place. That is the ordaining of the All-Mighty, the All-Knowing.
    ۞ فَلَآ أُقْسِمُ بِمَوَٰقِعِ ٱلنُّجُومِ ٧٥
So I swear by the setting places of the stars.
    وَإِنَّهُۥ لَقَسَمٌۭ لَّوْ تَعْلَمُونَ عَظِيمٌ ٧٦
and this, if only you knew, is indeed a great oath-
    Quran Surah Waqiah 56:75, 56:76
Read entire story (starting at 18:83) in Holy Quran to understand what Allah is telling us.
This is referring to Zhul Qarnain 3 interstellar journeys. First journey to setting/ending point of sun/stars which is mainly towards center of galaxy where there is massive black hole. Sun over there is like being swallowed by black hole (appearing as sun is setting into dark murky water)…and hence discussion of torment or forgiveness for humans on the planet belonging to this specific sun in subsequent ayah. Second journey to region of Galaxy where gases come together and form new suns/stars hence called Rising point/Birth place of sun. Subsequent ayah discusses that people on this planet have no shade/protection from Sun. They might have binary star system and so no night or shade from sun or new sun formed too close and therefore asking for protection. Newly formed planet is lacking atmosphere like Ozone protection on earth. Third journey to moon/planet in between 2 nebulae and close to planet of Gog and Magog. This is from my opinion and research. Allah knows best.

    about Dhul-Qarnayn, what was his affair, and what was his story, so say to them: I will recite to you a remembrance of him saying: I will tell you news from him. It has been said: Those who asked the Messenger of God, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, about the matter of Dhul-Qarnayn were people from the People of the Book. As for the news that those who asked him about that were the polytheists of his people, we have mentioned it before. As for the news that those who asked him were a people of the Book. So Abu Kuraib told us about it, he said: Zaid bin Habbab told us on the authority of Ibn Lahia, he said: Abdul Rahman bin Ziyad bin Anam narrated on the authority of two sheikhs from Naguib, he said: one of them is for his friend: he took us to Uqba bin Amer to talk, they said: he came to him, and they said: we came to talk to us He said: One day I was serving the Messenger of God, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, and I went out of his presence, and a people of the People of the Book met me, and they said: We want to ask the Messenger of God, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, so he asked permission for us to do so. I have no knowledge except what God has taught me.” Then he said: “Pour me water.” Then he performed ablution and then prayed. If you wish, you ask, and I tell you what you find written in your book, and if you wish, I tell you{And they ask you about Dhul-Qarnayn. Say, “I will recite to you a remembrance of him from him.” a reason} * {so follow a reason}
Muhammad bin Bashar told us, he said: Yahya told us, on the authority of Sufyan, on the authority of Habib bin Abi Thabit, on the authority of Abi Tufail, he said: Ali, may God be pleased with him, was asked about Dhul-Qarnayn, and he said: He was a servant who advised God and advised him, so he called his people to God, so they beat him on his horn He died, so God revived him, so he called his people to God, so they beat him on his horn, so he died, so he was named Dhul-Qarnayn. Muhammad bin Al-Muthanna told us, he said: Muhammad bin Jaafar narrated to us, he said: Shu’bah narrated to us, on the authority of Al-Qasim bin Abi Bazza, on the authority of Abi Tufail, he said: I heard Ali and they asked him about Dhul-Qarnayn, was he a prophet? He said: He was a righteous servant, he loved God, so he loved him, and he advised God and advised him, so God sent him to his people, and they hit him twice in the head, so he was named Dhul-Qarnain, and among you today is the same. And others said in that what: Muhammad bin Sahl al-Bukhari told me about it, he said: Ismail bin Abd al-Karim told us, he said: Abd al-Samad bin Maqil dissuaded him, he said: Wahb bin Munabbih said: Dhu al-Qarnayn was a king, and it was said to him: Why was he called Dhu al-Qarnayn? He said: The People of the Book disagreed about it, and some of them said: The king of the Romans and Persia. Some of them said: He had a resemblance to two horns on his head. Others said: It was called that because the two sides of his head were made of copper. Mention who said that: Ibn Hamid told us, he said: Salamah told us, he said: Ibn Ishaq told us, he said: He discouraged those who do not accuse Wahb bin Munabbih Al-Yamani, he said: He was named Dhul-Qarnain because the two sides of his head were made of copper. And His saying: {Indeed, We established the earth for him and gave him a means of everything} He says: We made him tread the earth for him, {And We gave him a means of everything} He says: And We gave him of everything: He means what leads to him, which is knowledge. with it. And about what we said about that, the people of interpretation said. Mention who said that: Ali told me, he said: Abdullah told us, he said: Muawiya narrated, on the authority of Ali, on the authority of Ibn Abbas, his saying: {And We gave him a reason for everything} he says: knowledge. Bishr told us, he said: Yazid told us, he said: Said told us, on the authority of Qatada, his saying: {And We gave him a reason for everything} meaning knowledge. Yunus told me, he said: Ibn Wahb informed us, he said: Ibn Zaid said, in his saying: {And We gave him a means of everything} He said: From everything knowledge. Al-Qasim told us, he said: Al-Hussein told us, he said: Hajjaj narrated from Ibn Juraij, he said: {And We gave him a reason for everything} He said: He knew everything. Muhammad bin Saad told me, he said: he dissuaded my father, he said: he dissuaded my uncle, he said: my father dissuaded, on the authority of his father, on the authority of Ibn Abbas {And We gave him a reason for everything} knowledge. It was narrated on the authority of Al-Hussein, he said: I heard Abu Moaz say: We are slaves, he said: I heard Ad-Dahhak saying in his statement:

From Sahih al-Bukhari on the Masih ad-Dajjal (false messiah, THE antichrist, according to the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ)
    Narrated Anas:
The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "No prophet was sent but that he warned his followers against the one-eyed liar (Ad-Dajjal). Beware! Ibn Umar reported:
The Messenger of Allah (May peace be upon him) stood among the people and praised Allah in a way which is worthy of him, and mentioned the ANTI-CHRIST (Dajjal), saying : “I warn you of him, and there has been no prophet who has not warned his people about him, and Noah also warned his people about him. I don't know any who think it. Cyrus of Persia is popular but we understand we can't actually know. The matter is actually Biblical in origin. Dhu al-Qarnain was mentioned in the Book of Daniel. Here he is king of Persia and Media. Yusuf Ali is responsible if any think Alexander is Dhu al-Qarnain, Yusuf Ali was sympathetic towards Freemasonry and educated in Europe and actually quite ignorant. Historically speaking.
There is no evidence that Arabs, Muslims ; ever had heard of or read Pseudo-Callisthenes, the alleged source, which is itself a lie.

There is no reason why the horns must represent two different things. Dhu al-Qarnain is mentioned in the book of Daniel 8:20 "The ram that you saw (master of the 2 horns) Dhu al-Qarnain is king(s) Media and Persia."
That said I think they represent the two kingdoms named in the prophecy which were united by Cyrus of Persia who was a king of much of the known world and who is believed by many to be Dhu al-Qarnain.

Seerah ibn Hisham: "The Jews Ask for a Book to be Sent from Heaven
Ibn Ishaq says: Mahmud Ibn Sayh:in, Nu'man Ibn Ada', Bahri Ibn 'Amr, 'Uzayr Ibn Abu 'Uzayr, and Salam Ibn Mishkam came to The Messenger of Allah [peace be upon him] and said: "Is it true, Muhammad, that what you have brought is really from Allah? We indeed do not see it is as consistent as is the Torah." The Messenger of Allah [peace be upon him] said to them: "By Allah, you indeed know that it is really from Allah, a fact which you find written in the Torah.
No doubt, were the whole of men and jinn to gather together to produce the like of it, they would never be able to produce the like thereof." They, along with others with them, said together: "O Muhammad! Does neither a man nor a jinn teach you that?" The Messenger of Allah [peace be upon him] said to them: "By Allah, you indeed know that it is really from Allah, a fact which you find written in the Torah." They said: "O Muhammad! Verily, Allah makes for anyone of His Messengers what he likes, and causes him to have power over what he wills. So, cause a book to descend upon us from the heaven to read and know, otherwise, we would bring to you the like of what you have brought."
In connection with them and their allegation, Allah Almighty revealed (what means): {Say: "If the whole of mankind and Jinns were to gather together to produce the like of this Qur'an they could not produce the like thereof, even if they backed up each other with help and support.} [Al-Isci' 88]."
The Jews Ask the Prophet about Dhul-Qamayn
Ibn Ishaq says: Huyayy Ibn Akhtab, Ka'b Ibn Asad, Abu Rafi', Ashya', and Samuel Ibn Zayd said to 'Abdullah Ibn Salam [Allah be pleased with him] when he embraced Islam: "It is not consonant that the Prophet should be from among the Arabs. But your companion (Muhammad) is but a king." Then, they went to The Messenger of Allah [peace be upon him] and asked him about Dhul-Qarnayn, thereupon he [peace be upon him] related to them what was revealed by Allah to him concerning this person, the same as he had previously related to the Quraysh, given that it was those who advised the Quraysh to ask The Messenger of Allah [peace be upon him] about him, when the Quraysh sent to them An-Nadr Ibn Al-Harith 'Uqbah Ibn Abu Mu'ayt.

"It is narrated on the authority of ibn Abbas (ra) that he said: the Quraysh sent an-Nadr ibn al-Harith and Uqbah ibn Abu Mu'ayt to the rabbis of the Jews in Medina, and ordered them saying: "Ask those Jews about the characteristics and reality of Muhammad ﷺ, and describe to them his state and what he says: indeed they are a people of scripture, and have the knowledge of the prophets which we have not." They left for Medina and when they arrived and asked those Jews about the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and told them about some of his words, and inform them that they had come to them because they were a people of scripture, and able to tell them the truth of their companion (Muhammad).
They told them: 'We advise you to ask him about three things: if he tells you of their reality, then, he should be a Prophet sent (from Allah), otherwise, he should be an inventor of lies, so, consider how you should deal with him. Ask him about some young men who lived in the early generation: who they were and what had happened to them; and ask him also about a man who went round and reached the Eastern and the Western ends of the Earth: who he was and what about the news pertaining to him; moreover ask him about the spirit: what it is. If he tells you about those, he should be a Prophet, and you should follow him; otherwise he should be an inventor of lies. So, consider what you like to do with him.' "

Dhu al-Qarnain was someone mentioned in the Bible according to the most ancient and authoritative sources. According to the Bible Dhu al-Qarnain was Persian or Median. He is mentioned in the book of Daniel chapter 8 verse 20 as a Persian or Median king.
This rules out the possibility of it having been Alexander who was Macedonian.

The Jews Ask the Prophet about Dhul-Qamayn
" Ibn Ishaq says: Huyayy Ibn Akhtab, Ka'b Ibn Asad, Abu Rafi', Ashya', and Samuel Ibn Zayd said to 'Abdullah Ibn Salam [Allah be pleased with him] when he embraced Islam: "It is not consonant that the Prophet should be from among the Arabs. But your companion (Muhammad) is but a king." Then, they went to The Messenger of Allah [peace be upon him] and asked him about Dhul-Qarnayn, thereupon he [peace be upon him] related to them what was revealed by Allah to him concerning this person, the same as he had previously related to the Quraysh, given that it was those who advised the Quraysh to ask The Messenger of Allah [peace be upon him] about him, when the Quraysh sent to them An-Nadr Ibn Al-Harith 'Uqbah Ibn Abu Mu'ayt."
I will prove that Dhu ul-Qarnain was mentioned in the Bible or the book of the People of the Book, the Jews. According to the previously quoted Seerah of ibn Hisham the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said that the matter was known to the Jewish rabbis from their book known as the the Torah or Tanakh. This is clearly stated by several early and reliable Muslim scholars. That the Jews and the Quraish conspired to test the Prophet Muhammad (saws) is known from a famous narration and that the Jews were testing the Prophet ﷺ with information known to them from their book will be proven إن شاء الله. I will leave no doubt.
The revelation of the Ayahs concerning Dhu al-Qarnayn was revealed in response to the Jewish rabbis in Al-Madinah who asked the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ three questions designed to test a prophet.
      Tafsir Ibn Kathir
      Surah al-Kahf: 16
"It seems that they lived before the time of Christianity altogether, because if they had been Christians, the Jewish rabbis would not have cared about preserving because of their differences. We have mentioned above the report from Ibn Abbas that the Quraysh sent a message to the Jewish rabbis in Al-Madinah to ask them for things with which they could test the Messenger of Allah, and they told them to ask him about these young men, and about Dhul-Qarnayn (the man who traveled much) and about the Ruh. This indicates that this story was something recorded in the books of the People of the Book, and that it came before Christianity. And Allah knows best."
      Lubab an-Nuqul fi Asbab al-Quran by as-Suyuti
      Surah al-Kahf

By the way the so called Alexander Romance or Pseudo-Callisthenes doesn't actually have anything about Alexander building a barrier against Gog and Magog.
You have allowed yourself to be blindly misled.
Dhu al-Qarnain was mentioned in the Hebrew Book of Daniel chapter 8 verse 20 where it says literally "Dhu al-Qarnain is king(s) Media and Persia." according to the Arabic, translated from the Hebrew "Bal HaQarnaim", literally "the Master of two horns."
Daniel 8:20 "The ram which you saw possessing two horns (Dhu al-Qarnain) is the King(s) of Media and Persia."
Alexander is said to be the horn of the "he-goat" in the same chapter. So he can't be Dhu al-Qarnain who is symbolized by the two horns of the ram.
That the matter was from the Torah was known from the time of the Prophet Muhammad (saws) as the Jews intended to test him and asked him about "the man who traveled much." He told the Jews that it was from their book and revealed things in it that he could not have read. The Qur'an is older than the Arabic Bible.

The only document to attribute the deeds of Dhu al-Qarnain from the Qur'an to Alexander regarding Gog and Magog is from the 1700-1800'sAD and was added to the conclusion of the translation of the Syriac version of pseudo-Callisthenes and titled "A Christian legend Concerning Alexander" in the translation of it by EA Wallis Budge. It knows of Islam, is Christian in origin and much later than the Qur'an.

The sad fact is that there is no evidence indicating that Dhu al-Qarnain was Alexander the Macedonian king. Whoever says that pseudo-Callisthenes contains the episode of Gog and Magog and Dhu al-Qarnain is a liar. Whoever says that Alexander was Dhu al-Qarnain is a liar or ignorant. Pseudo-Callisthenes has no such story in it. Referring to the "Alexander Romance" which is not the actual title of anything, allows academics to claim that to Alexander is attributed the deeds of Dhu al-Qarnain according to the Qur'an and so Alexander was Dhu al-Qarnain without acknowledging the post Islamic origins of the so called "Christian Legend Concerning Alexander" which is itself evidence of nothing prior to the 1700s AD.

Dhu means "master" and ذو القرنين or Dhu al-Qarnain grammatically indicates exactly two horns. He is mentioned in the Book of Daniel in Hebrew and Arabic both. He was not ashamed, had no reason to be, this is a silly tale. It's the King of Persia and Media, Cyrus most likely.

      Liar!

Pseudo-Callisthenes says nothing relevant to the matter of Dhu al-Qarnayn and the "Christian Legend Concerning Alexander" appended to the Syriac translation of Pseudo-Callisthenes after the conclusion of Pseudo-Callisthenes, is post Islamic in origin. The only manuscript connecting Alexander w/ Gog and Magog is a post Islamic Christian writer and the manuscript is from the 1700's and is not part of the Pseudo-Callisthenes commonly called the Alexander Romance.
It is not part of Pseudo-Callisthenes, Alexander Romance is not the title of any actual book and the author who does attribute the building of a barrier against Gog and Magog was a Christian clearly aware of Islam.
Again it's not part of Pseudo-Callisthenes. It's titled by EA Wallis Budge "A Christian legend of Alexander."

    Plutarch, Life of Alexander:
“ 3 1 However, after his vision, as we are told, Philip sent Chaeron of Megalopolis to Delphi, by whom an oracle was brought to him from Apollo, who bade him sacrifice to Ammon and hold that god in greatest reverence, 2 but told him he was to lose that ONE OF HIS EYES which he had applied to the chink in the door when he espied the god, in the form of a serpent, sharing the couch of his wife. 3 Moreover, Olympias, as Eratosthenes says, when she sent Alexander forth upon his great expedition, told him, and him alone, the secret of his begetting, and bade him have purposes worthy of his birth. 4 Others, on the contrary, say that she repudiated the idea, and said: "Alexander must cease slandering me to Hera."
5 Be that as it may, Alexander was born early in the month Hecatombaeon,5 the Macedonian name for which is Loüs, on the sixth day of the month, and on this day the temple of Ephesian Artemis was burnt. 6 It was apropos of this that Hegesias the Magnesian made an utterance frigid enough to have extinguished that great conflagration. He said, namely, it was no wonder that the temple of Artemis was burned down, since the goddess was busy bringing Alexander into the world.”
