Really enjoyed that Rob - great looking bike which I'm looking forward to having a go on (I loved the "standard" Monster)...love these more informal reviews you do, to me much more engaging than the journo style stuff....nice work as ever!

Regarding the frame issue. What people need to keep in mind is that Miguel Galuzzi used the original trellis frame from the then current Superbike 851 model. So, this new frame which is similar in design to the Panigale is only carrying on that tradition. And if it means that the bike is many Kgs lighter than the old version, you can't really argue with that.

Nice bike. Wasn’t sure when they first changed away from the trellis frame but it’s grown on me since. We’re genuinely so spoiled for choice nowadays. Like the blog format too. Cheers

How about getting a Monster+ and then adding the Termignoni racing silencers which are available as an accessory? Comes in at £13,960 so a few quid less than the SP. With it you get an additional 4% torque, 4% more hp, a 2 kg weight saving - and MUCH better sound. Do the Stylemas and Ohlins make that much difference to a bike which is unlikely to greet many (if any) track days?

I love the monster but I'm going with the V2S Multistrada. I'm waiting until January in hopes I can obtain a solid deal with the dealership but I'm thinking since it is a Ducati there may not be movement on price.

I wish the forks weren't gold. Fortunately, standard suspension is great in person the downshifts on the Termignoni are great. Ducati needs to address pricing the sp cost the same as a standard monster with the exhaust. Lower the price on the exhaust option.

    Great review as usual! 👍🏻
Once they got rid of the trellis frame I lost interest. The 2023 may be lighter and more efficient, but the last Monster 1200 S looked SO much better.
Bought an 2022 Scrambler 1100 Tribute Pro instead of the new Monster and now trading in my HD Road King Special for the new Diavel v4. Best of both worlds!
    Cheers!😁

Fun fact , I was never in the monster because of the tralis frame , don’t know what I really didn’t like on it . This monster , I just love it ! Also bought one but I have to w8 for next week til I get it .

Looks aside I have the Streetfighter v2. It’s amazing, the performance is more than enough for me. I just rode the monster SP. it’s genuinely more fun to ride on tight b roads, and around town.
I giggled the entire ride on that monster, where I pucker on the SFV2. The V2 looks incredible though. The monster looks like new age lawn mower.

Its a nice bike honestly, but its not what I think of, when I think Ducati Monster....¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I certainly don't enjoy the look as much as the original (Trellis Frame) Monster, wish the headlight looked more like the Ducati Streetfighter V4. The distorted round headlight doesn't do it or me...
NEEDS A BELLY PAN - The underside of the bike could benefit from being made more chunky looks like its missing something.

I love the look and compact nature of both the new Monster and SP. But the 20% premium you have to pay for the red paint and the name on the tank turns me off. I guess Ducati have to fund their huge MotoGP and SBK projects somehow.

  • @ricatiman

Nice ride. I love Ducati's, but have moved on from the Monster - the engine is just a bit too much of a shaker compared to the Panigale V2 engine. Way back in the 80's I thought this engine was hot stuff, but now it has unfortunately become an anachorism in the world of modern sporty twins. The KTM 890 makes this bike seem like it comes from the last century.

    • @IanTed
      @IanTed Před rokem +1

Same engine in my Multi V2S, had a lot of twins and I think it’s smooth, brilliant engine, it’s nothing like the 80s air cooled engines…I should know I raced them. Power and torque wise it’s fine for road riding, you can use all the performance.

looks vile, like an old Kawasaki ER5 direct access learning bike, Monsters have never been attractive but I guess its fair to say they have their own unique look. The Termignoni's look out of place and almost thrown on with no aesthetical thought process. I love Ducatti, probably older models I confess but as you said " the street fighter for the money" any day of the week. great channel, as always.
