I'm 5'3" and slim, I have small hips but my bust is 34 DD. Now, before you start hating me, let me tell you, finding clothes that really fit is a challenge. Trench coats with double breasted styling and wide lapels look terrible on me. So do raglan sleeves. After watching this video, I'm cleaning out my closet and donating things to charity that don't look good on me. Likewise with toxic people. If someone drags me down every time I see them, I'm avoiding them starting right now.
I can relate sister. I look like a hot dog with two tomatoes toothpicked on top. I have to buy dresses three sizes larger and get them altered. I try to stick to separates.
🤣🤣🤣 (to the hot dog and tomatoes comment 🤣) Styling a larger bust always comes with its own issues! I would say, don’t settle on an item until it fits the way you want ❤️
Me too! Lost my butt doing Keto last year( 20 lbs) so I'm buying lots of new Separates!! Dresses for dressy swing dances have to be belted or altered but I'll live😂. Thank u for posting your comment❤.
Why would she hate you for your measurements? 🤔
@@latricehoneycutt9096that confused me as well because I have a friend with similar stature and a bust disproportionately large for her small frame and she struggled with back pain and also got teased about it too.
animal shelters can always use old towels sheets and blankets for all the dogs, cats and rabbits they shelter, save and find homes for.
2023 was my year of purging items that no longer fit my life. Started in one room and continued throughout my home. I actually have empty cabinets in my kitchen and clean closets. I donated most of the items and wow did it feel good. I plan on continuing in 2024.
That’s amazing!! It’s funny the things that were so hard to get rid of, when you finally do, you never even miss them! Love this! ❤️
My first thought waking up this morning is “I have to get rid of the pjs.” They’re super soft, comfortable, fairly new, but don’t breathe! I wake up feeling tacky. I spent a year fighting a fungal skin infection and that opened my eyes to how detrimental artificial fibres can be to the skin. I am consciously going to make swaps to natural fibres this year.
Yes! I only wear 100% cotton - it’s worth the extra money
Oooo yes pjs I agree I feel way more comfy in my cotton or silk ones! ❤️❤️
Consider trying linen pjs. After one wash they’ll be so soft and comfy and they don’t get stinky like artificial fibers!
I am in my 50’s and sleep in the nude. Feels amazing and free, with nothing restricting me, and my skin breathes, and looks great. Pj’s are overrated, and just have a robe near by in case the fire alarm goes off😆😂🤣
I spent 2023 swapping over my staple pieces to natural fibres! I am so proud and glad to have accomplished this! I did keep a few pair of pants that have polyester blends in them. So nice to feel comfortable in my clothes! Good luck on this journey ❤
Forget trends. Wear the clothes that you love. Dress for yourself not others. Don’t listen to fashion ‘advice’ that tells you no or get rid of. Just keep wearing comfy, practical, easy to maintain, affordable items what you consider to be joyous.
Dressing classic would make this work. Wearing trends that are outdated can make you look like you don't care about how you present yourself to the world. Ages you, too.
@@kellycook4347 as long as your clothes and yourself are clean then the world will cope with your choices and if more people do this the more acceptable it will be . Don’t feel you have to conform to a classic uniform to blend in and not offend people who like to judge. If people think you’re older due to your clothes that’s on them, your actual age remains the same. One short life. Enjoy the clothes you love. Dress for you. Don’t judge others choices. ❤️
@mandyshangalang1398 it's a reality of life. People do judge you on how you look. No one wants to employ an old person.
@@kellycook4347 if a company doesn’t want me based on my skillset and is preoccupied with my perceived age I don’t want to work for that company. My real age will be clear for them to see on my resume . I stand by my post. Dress respectfully but wear whatever makes you happy. A person who is happy in their clothes will no doubt be more memorable and interesting than a person dressing in an attempt to impress and results in looking exactly like everyone one else they have seen that day.
@mandyshangalang1398 I never said looking like everyone else, just youthful. It's very important for my business. No-one wants an out of shape old dog walker and sitter.
Getting rid of social media channels is so helpful. I have unsubscribed from any beauty channel where the presenter has had any kind of surgery, filler, botox etc. Fine for them, but I'm not sure why I should take skincare advice from someone who really has no idea if it actually works (especially when so many are sponsored). Your advice is so usable. Thinking you will look good in a blazer, because it's classic, doesn't always work. I have always felt I should keep a black one and a camel one, but never wore them - so recently got rid of them! You know what - I don't miss them or the way they made me feel (as if there was something wrong with me as it should work!). BTW - for anyone that thinks wisdom comes with age - newsflash - it doesn't! I still make stupid mistakes, and I don't have all the answers! All I have is experience because of the amount of time I've lived - but that doesn't correlate to wisdom, and thinking you should know better is such a downer. Thanks for this video - Happy New Year!!
Oh man.. that last part hit home! It’s so true! I hate the “you should know better” - no, we all still make mistakes and only learn from our own experiences ❤️❤️
@fionafrazer8820 You said it!! Brilliant comment as I am 71 as of Jan 1 and still under "construction" emotionally. And aging naturally without Botox, fillers or surgery is daunting 😮
Fiona, I felt so stupid. I had no idea until I’d been watching for a few months that so many of these ladies giving advice had facelift, etc. Oh. And use filters. Im 65 and still learning. I knew I didn’t like social media (in general). lol.
It's crazy isn't it? I don't care if they've had work done - their face - but to try and have us believe that this cream, that serum is the reason they look so great is ridiculous!@@turnbacktime65
Society and social media has caused so many women to feel so insecure about their natural aging selves, and allowing these billion dollar companies that supply and perform cosmetic procedures, to only get richer by the second! Be confident and strong ladies, and own who you really are as your authentic, natural, true selves.🌷🌷🌷
Over the past year I've lost 40 pounds and decided to do a big clean up of my clothing! I got rid of every item of clothing that I didn't like, had for a very long time, and didn't fit. Coats and sweaters as well! Same with underwear, pajamas, shoes, and socks. It feels so good to be able to open my closet and know every thing in there fits me and I like! Same with the other items.
I've been retired for over 10 years and live a rather quiet life. My wardrobe has changed quite a bit from the jeans, tee shirts, flannel shirts, and steel-toed boots I wore while I worked most of my life in a factory. I like looking put together whenever I do the few errands I have or have a relaxed supper with family and friends.
Obviously, losing that much weight none of my clothes fit nor the underwear. So over a few months I bought various items that I absolutely needed and slowly built up a nice and pleasing wardrobe. I still periodically go through my closets and drawers and pare things down or donate clothing that just isn't working out or that I had purchased when I'd only lost 20 pounds! It's a great feeling to have a neat and easy-to-access closet and it spurred me on to paring down a lot of other items in my home as well.
A great video and lots of very good suggestions! Thank you.
I can so relate to this. I retired a couple of years ago and have a quiet life, but having the time to be able to pare down my wardrobe has also spurred me into decluttering elsewhere in the home. Like yourself, I like to look put together even if it's a trip to the shops!
Well done grrlll🤓
@@lynnebarren2410 Thank you!
@@robinhoward4204 Exactly! 🙂
Congratulations !!
On classics that don't work for you: It's okay not to like white button ups. Or white tops at all. Especially if you are a warm colour season! They do not look good on everyone and it's okay to just say no!
Many people rock them, keep on keepin' on! My peeve is the advice that it fits everyone. Classics apply broadly, not universally.
Yes you always have to figure out what works (and what doesn’t) for you! Most all the advice out there is general, not specific. Love that you have figured out what doesn’t work on you 🙌🙌❤️❤️
@@ANNAREID29Agreed! I was in retail for 30 yrs and finally figured out last year what looks best on me( I'm 71😂)
I agree and am one of those on whom white (whatever) looks bad. A good tip for me was something I saw on YT that blue and white striped button downs can be an alternative to all-white ones. It really depends on the width of the stripes but I managed to find something that is perfect and I can see how it can work as white button-downs work for other people.
Love this! I have to get rid of something from every category: toxic people, holy socks, thick sweaters, tight jeans, itchy blouses, etc. 🥳 🥂
I use my old jeggings for riding. Super comfortable in the saddle and way cheaper than riding pants! And they fit perfectly in my boots!
My favorite riding pants are my boot top jeans. The most comfortable pants in the saddle.
This is so true! Skinny jeans are also great for riding!
Anna I've been following you this past year and I've purged my closet twice, installed lighting and shoe racks in my closet, updated my hangers, and purged my formal wear and coats. What a world of difference it makes to have only the things you love to chose from everyday when I get dressed. Just last week. I decided to replace all of my makeup as I know most of it was years old. I love the result. I've been wanting a new perfume, so my fragrances will be the next on my purge list. I'm definitely feeling more beautiful these days and well on my way to living my best life in 2024. Thank you so much for all your wonderful advice!
I enjoyed this new year, let it go video. I retired nine years ago and had a closet full of absolutely nothing wrong with shoes and suits that would still work today. It was difficult to let go, but once I did I didn’t think about it anymore. I also got rid of a set of eight mugs, again nothing wrong with them. If you do it gradually, it doesn’t hurt so much and before you know it, BAM! You have closet and cabinet space. And I’m not finished.
I hear you.. I have 5 gorgeous suits and I can’t bear to part with them. I’m retired I don’t need them, but I can’t get rid of them. Someone needs to hold an intervention with me. I look at them and want to cry. I love those suits. I haven’t worn those suits for at least 12 years. Please help me..
I just switched to felt hangers. Love them. I need to clean out my closet again.
I used to sell bras. If they are used a lot and are starting to stretch/ have any holes, throw them out. Also, get a bra fitting from a reputable store, not Victoria Secret type stores where the staff turnover is really high. You are probably wearing the wrong size. A good bra fitter will be able to give you suggestions on what will be comfortable and look good on you and help you learn how to tell if the bra is actually right for you. If you have gained or lost more than 10 lbs chances are your bra is no longer the right size.
Sorry for the second comment but I did that with a pair of expensive pants I had that were too tight. I put them in the drawer they were there for about two years. I pulled them out this year and I had lost 10 pounds and they fit perfect.
Jeggings are the mullets of the fashion world.
😂😂😂😂😂 they are! I hate leggings and jeggings, I have very skinny legs and horrible, knobbly knees 😫😫😂.
i noticed he British influencers seem to wear those "business" trousers with sneekers and a hoodie so it repurposes them into a whole new casual look
Genius! I’m getting rid of those “fabulous clothes” I don’t want to wear as we speak. Love your ideas and your humor-thanks for the motivation🥰
Glad you liked this one! I had glam / going out clothes staring at me for years and wondered why I had nothing to wear so I get it 🤣🤣
Another thing to get rid of is volunteer gigs that create more negative feelings than positive. Now granted, there are some things we need to show up for because someone has to do them, and sometimes it needs to be us. BUT the committee assignment for a club that makes you (um, me) mad all the time? Maybe it's time to find a different way to give back.
Yes definitely! It’s ok to say, “no” sometimes! ❤️
That’s the reason I got divorced. I decided that that relationship was tearing me down. Best decision ever.
Now my big task is I need to clean out my closet badly. Sometimes these things almost feel insurmountable though. I’ve lost 70 pounds so I know most of the things in my closet literally will not fit me anymore. But it’s like a security blanket.
Amen on the jeggings. It makes even the most athletic and beautiful woman look like an early 2000s Sims character wearing painted on pixel pants. My best friend still loves jeggings, bless her heart. I can’t even stand jeans less than 98% cotton now.
Last month I actually purged out my makeup at home and got rid of stuff I never used or had for years (like errrr makeup I'd had for almost a decade!) and replaced with new, and products I ACTUALLY used) - I have a full set at home, and a full set in our phoenix apartment (my husband works in phoenix and im there one week a month, and actually wear make up MORE there lol). That way, I dont have to bring it all WITH me (hello TSA limits) and then.... forget/leave something somewhere (which always happened! ) It is SO NICE to have a simplified set of make up, that is new, fresh, and are items that I ACTUALLY USE!
I want to practice self love and acceptance in 2024
Loved the list! With my old workout shoes I rotate them in this cycle. I buy my new ones then I take my old ones and put them in my trunk so that the days that I might forget my tennis shoes, I still have no excuse and go to the gym because I have my “spare” in the trunk. Then my third pair of tennis shoes becomes my yard tennis shoes. Those are the ones that I wear in the summer/spring cleaning up the yard that way if any kind of mud or mess happens to them it doesn’t matter.. So I feel like I get a good use for my money for my tennis shoes. Some I donate if they’re halfway decent still. 😊
as I love to sew I always keep my old stuff, unless it is completely broken/beyond repair or if a friend really likes something. Otherwise I keep because I love to reuse my fabrics and sometimes combine 2-3 things to make one new. Some of them lay for a year or 2 even until I have the right idea, but I am lucky to have a lot of space (big house and one closet for the fabrics and re-doable clothing).
Very good advice about social media and also people that drain you! I recently did that as well, one was a narcist who really hurt me but I was also a bit scared of her influencing the people around me. Boy did she give me hell indeed but also glad so see some people stand up for me. I am too soft and kind, I want to help and sometimes people like that use you and then I feel horrible and they feel great, that sucks big time. It did hurt to loose some people who I thought were friends though, it really feels like mourning and takes a time to adjust to that. But in the end, others should make you feel happy and glad to be together, help each other and be there for each other, not pulling someone down completely. Be kind to yourself and others!
Wear your perfume everyday. You deserve it.
perfumes are fine as long as they don't smell off. I used my 80s version of Paris until 2 years ago when it finally gave up, lol. Good perfume holds up for years.
I agree. I have a bottle of 1989 Dior Poison that I inherited from my mom. That perfume is still amazing.
Also, storing it in a drawer or cupboard out of the light helps to preserve it!
@@flohough1870 I like to keep mine in their boxes too.
@@flohough1870 i alway store perfumes in the dark
Wow. Everything you pointed out in this video resonated with my principles of how to live a clutter free peaceful life. From decluttering clothes, things and yes people that no longer serve a purpose in your life. Always be kind and courteous but keep certain people at arm's length. Take this advice from a 67-year-old who has had many friendships throughout my lifetime. You learn sometimes the hard way friendships are not always for a lifetime. I need to go through my channels that I am subscribed to that don't serve a purpose any longer. Makeup is one of them, as I don't have the patience to sit and watch someone put on a face of makeup. What I know and wear is enough. I don't need the latest eyeshadow. Channels that someone is always telling us we have to have the latest expensive skincare products and gadgets. I know how to take care of my skin. Last but not least, channels that tell us we need expensive clothing.
Loved this video!❤
Purging information and people and things that don’t help you live your best life is always important! We are all on different journeys and stages of our lives ❤️❤️
If you have towels or bedding you don't want anymore, donate to your local animal shelter. They have lots of uses for them.
I’ve heard that you can keep dry eye shadows for years. You just want to get rid of cream or liquid makeup regularly-mascara, cream eye shadow, foundation, etc.
I hope that’s true bc I have kept mine or yearsss lol
I'm sorry, but I won't be getting rid of those Natasha Denona palettes of mine. If they become actually unusable due to age, I'll be hanging them on my wall as art. They'll be the most expensive pieces in my house! 😂
I have a blazer from the early 90s …. Took it out of storage…love it again
Love this!!! ❤️❤️❤️
/When you travel take your old pairs of underwear. when you shower and change them toss the old undies so you don't have to carry back dirty ones. My mom told me that and it's great!
What a wonderful piece of advice!! Please, thank your mom!!! 💌 helene
I have actually done this before!! Love it! Makes me feel like I created room in my suitcase too! Even tho it’s literally just a couple pairs of undies 🤣🤣
I put my old/disliked perfumes in the bathroom to use as a room freshener after the big job there
That’s such a great idea! ❤️❤️
😂😂Great idea, lol.
I am completely in agreement re prints. I find I get tired of even the “classics”-stripes, polka dots-very quickly. Occasionally I’ll keep one that seems particularly timeless or delightfully, quirkily “me,” but for the most part I find I am better off not buying prints, too. They don’t get worn enough!
Yes I feel you! I do love stripes, but yeah prints… I need to REALLY think about it before I buy it! 😄❤️❤️
I love your channel, Anna! One reason I hang on to things (clothes, old towels, jewelry, perfumes, etc.) is that I hate just throwing things into the trash. Can you do a video on options other than trash for getting rid of things, e.g. this video mentioned donating towels to animal shelters. What is the best way to get rid of textiles that cannot be donated, i.e. textile recycling?
Hello, there are some options now. I didn’t know about the animal shelters so that’s great advice but there are also furniture makers that use old textiles as the filling for cushions! You might have to Google what’s available in your city to be rid of textiles that can’t be donated. I think H&M also had a program for that but not sure if that’s still a thing
I keep one “old” bra and a couple of old pairs of panties for my yard work and painting. My mom called them her yard mowing panties!
Yes please come get all your friends out of our ditches!!! 😅 😅 Too funny!! Love from Canada 🇨🇦

Self care isn't selfish and negative self talk is not productive, helpful or loving. Look in that mirror and tell that beautiful Soul that she is worthy, she matters and she deserves happiness. Now toss out that cold shoulder top with those horrid jeggings and dad sneakers, it is 2024. It is the year of YOU ladies, get out there and slay em. You are amazing. Anna, Love you Gurl.
Happy New Year Anna! I have a lot of clean out to do and it's on the list. Thanks for the motivation and encouragement.

Good advices. Yes, you're right!
Such great advice - some days I need this on repeat!!
What a great video. Just the inspiration I needed to chuck stuff that wasn't supporting me.

Thank you so much for these videos!!! They are all great things to think about and apply to my life!!
What a superb video !! These are thing I can really work on.

This is life changing for the better, and not only for clothes.
Really love new hairstyle. And of course all your videos. Great advice!
I always cut up old towels and use as rags for cleaning, dusting, polishing furniture, etc.
I always enjoy your videos! Happy 2024! It's going to be great!
Amazing video!! This is a great time to assess our lives and begin the new year feeling better about ourselves and our lives. I made of list of what was stressing me at the end of 2023 and am using it as a guide to be less stressed. Again, this was a great video for a less stressed, calmer, and happier 2024. Happy New Year, Anna! Blessings of health and happiness to you and your family for 2024!!😊
I always enjoy your videos. You give great advice. It took me a long time to realize my lifestyle had changed and I went through my closet.
Love this, Anna. Just an encouragement, this all gets easier with a little age. Sure, there are wrinkles, some sagging and a little weight gain, but there is also way less judgement and a whole lot more joy and wisdom. Happy 2024!
I love your energy, Anna. Thank you for all the wonderful tips. I started to get rid of clothes that don't like anymore or just are not comfortable and planning with keep doing with shoes and things around my house.
Your vids have cleared out my closet and I could not be happier about it. TY.
The SOCKS. I have an entire drawer full of socks that I hate wearing but will not throw away! I spend so much time fossicking around in the bottom of the drawer looking for a pair of the 'good' socks.
lol me too!! I feel this! Why are they so hard to get rid of 🤣🤣
So far I made a couple of charities very happy by giving away many business ensembles. At 50 yrs I'm finally starting to develop my own style. 😊 it was always office look, business look... eek, i can't see that anymore. Freedom, here i come .
Anna this is my favorite and I want to thank you for all these suggestions. Stay well.

Love this video ❤
❤u Ana! You're very kind and truly want to "help " us feel our best and look our best! Thank you! I have to clean out my closet asap! Also, ridding myself of the negativity! Unfollowing a few who make me feel bad
Happy New Year! Great tips! I agree that the hardest clothing to get rid of are high quality classic pieces even though I rarely wear them. My fear is that I'll won't be able to replace them if I want them again. I wear petite sizing so my shopping choices are much more limited than misses sizing.
A lot of these things resonated with me! I did have a good sized purge this year so that has helped immensely. I realized that I had a lot of things that were perfectly ok, nothing wrong with them, still fit, still worked, but I was never going to wear them again - so off they went. As for Classics that don't work - I gave up trying to do a trench coat years ago, and even blazers are a tough one - I just don't feel comfortable in them. I have found that cardigans are ALWAYS easier to have in my wardrobe. Anyway, all good reminders - thank you!!
Have followed you for a couple of years. You have helped me a lot. Thanks
Such a good point about getting new bras after 6 months if you wear them daily. Makes total sense. You are my favorite style tuber. Happy new year beautiful!
I have a very limited wardrobe. Every piece is wonderful and I wear them all. When I shop I ask myself, "Does this piece pass the WONDERFUL test? If not, I pass on it.
Best video ever!! So right about everything especially friends that drain you! “If they are stuck in a ditch in Canada…” HILARIOUS!
I enjoy these videos! I recently moved positions and am completely realizing that being removed from people who cause drama changes your attitude completely. I just took a new position that I knew was going to be hectic, but the leaving people who caused drama for me became the move I needed!! I am happier and really the new stress is not the same at all. Now I worry about my job and duties more than I worry what kind of mood my coworkers will be arriving in. It can change everything for the better! I am doing this more in my normal life now as well and it is definitely showing me what was not serving me!!
Wow I’m so happy for you!! Sometimes we don’t realize what a negative affect people have on us until til we remove ourselves. What a great start to the year for you 🙌🙌❤️❤️
Girl!! This was such a good video!! So --- my closet is half full of garments that I have actually sewn myself!! That makes it twice as hard to get rid of because of the emotional issues of choosing the fabric and pattern, altering or redrafting the style for fit or fun, and then cutting and sewing. It is such a personal journey, but I have to get in there and weed out!! You are helping me with my courage. BTW, still love the video you did with your SIL!! This video is a great back up to that one.
I find it so much easier to get rid of worn out clothing now that I recycle them through For Days/Trashie.
I love your videos Anna!
Thanks Anna for one of the best videos here on CZcams I’ve ever seen! /Marie from Sweden
You have such a nice channel. It’s the best combination of real person, stylish but also not gonna wear something that is stylish just because they say it’s in style, fun and just all round easy to watch and learn from. So thank you and keep doing you while sharing all things stylish in the best way possible
Love your sense of humor! I agree with all of these! I've been on the fence about getting a classic button down white shirt (after my no-buy year), But I already have a linen one for summer which I love & its enough, Don't need a stiff, business style button-down and I have no idea where I'd wear that... I don't work in an office. 🤷🏽
Thanks for another great video. I also donate old towels and fleece blankets to our local animal shelter.
Thanks for this video. B y the way you look gorgeous. I love your longer hair.😍😍
Thank you so much! ❤️❤️❤️
I bought 100% cotton jeans and they are so uncomfortable on me. I guess I should part with them. They are a nice brand. 😢
You’re a beautiful human!!!
Happy New Year , Anna let it be the best year ever 🎉🙏🎄🌴 So i run through my closet , every time i want to splurge and can not do it at that time, so sell sell sell😂. So my cleet is pretty curated and updated. Nothing is really missing. I stop buying warmer clothes, since i live in SF. So i dont need coat, i stopped investing in Chanel jackets, its not for my climate. So i really dont need anything , so i might buy something like trend color, like i want something red, and i just purchased after Christmas vintage Chanel blouse, its lipstick red, ah so sad the seller havent shipped yet, nor cummunicated. I guess its time to cancel the order😂. And look for another red blouse. Also i might invest very light happy color like pink or coral, Chanel jacket , but those are just a wants no need. I am pretty happy with my wardrobe. Its not one style, is multiple as i like it😜 Have a blessed day🙏❤️
Such a GREAT list. Over half of these is so me. 😮 But this is a fabulous reminder to let it gooooo. Let someone else enjoy it. Thank you for sharing. I really love the delivery, too. Many of these videos can be hard to "hear," but you explain it with compassion. It lands so much better.
Yes! Working on revamping my closet this weekend. Timely video!
Yay! 🙌🙌🙌
Great segment! You are so inspiring, open, and honest! I also love your sense of relaxed, yet elevated style! This suits my lifestyle. I'm a semi retired, work at home artist, but still like an easy way to look polished every time I go out the door! It has been a lot of fun to clear out the old stuff that I had been hanging onto! I've recently been working on a whole new, exciting look for myself. I'm over 60, but don't look it. Just bought a black leather moto jacket! Wooooweee! I love it! Recently paired it with a midi, body contoured sweater dress & boots. Love it. Heads were turning, and I felt like a million bucks! This has all happened because I cleared out the old! I kept one item. An all wool sweater vest from Banana Republic, that I bought in the late 1980s. I'm blown away at how this classic piece is now trending again. I'd say that holding onto a few high-quality classics is a good idea!
Love your honesty specially about how even you still have times to get rid, like only torn itmes.
I freaking love these videos from you! I enjoy watching them. Also you have helped me in my process of leveling up my style. Still currently in progress 😂
I'm so glad! ❤️❤️❤️ That's amazing, Cindy 😘😘
I need to do this.
