1. Define practical into 7 elements (fabric composition, silhouette, cut, structure, washability, comfort, quality)
2. Define your personal ideal style (this can be a loose definition and shift over time)
3. Understand some pitfalls of romanticising: your body, your aesthetic and your budget, also romanticising the ‘new and shiny’.
4. Use this creative tension between the 7 practical elements and your 3+ style words to craft outfits that fit YOU uniquely

I am so easily influenced , love colorful and shiny things, and enjoy thrifting. I have to remember how old I am and what is realistic for my lifestyle. Such a great video thank you.
The reality check can hit so hard!! But I do believe in wearing colour at every age, look at Iris Apfel (not that she had a regular lifestyle like most of us 😅)
I am 74 and just love fashion. I have looked at 100's of blogs etc over several years and I stumbled across yours today. I never leave a comment but today you inspired me to do so. The content was spot on, how we love a world of fantasy I suppose it's the little girl coming out in us. I remembered when my youngest son was too big to pick up and I could finally wear white, I felt liberated. Now as a retiree more time is spent at home and one needs once again more practical clothes. So as a women who likes to dress I buy more smart casual and tend to dress up or dress down a lot of the same clothes. I have learnt that accessories are my best friend. So more practical but stylish ideas are what I am looking for these days. Good luck with blog and I look forward to following you. 😊

There are so many chapters in our life (especially as women, I feel) and the practical requirements are just a fact of life. I have a real problem with shopping for my fantasy self. What I have learned is to purchase things second hand from a charity shop for my fantasy pieces. I enjoy them and then declutter them when i no longer enjoy them. Less guilt and better for the planet.😊
I do the same! My local op shops are definitely a go-to resource for me - especially when there's a blurred line between "is this fantasy me or real me" 😭

@RO-wy5lx I am very drawn to their simple style of clothes, but we don't have a Uniqlo in New Zealand! Will try to find one when I'm on holidays in Australia soon...
