  • Welcome back to the Drifter Journey Channel! Today's video is all about how to install the wiring harness for a Curt Class 3 Heavy Duty Hitch.
    Please like, comment and subscribe to help show your support! We sincerely appreciate you all!!
    When we had this job quoted by Uhaul, they wanted $350 in labor to install the wiring harness. Given that the van was still mostly an empty shell, we figured it would be worth it to do it ourselves. And we were right!
    It's a simple task, and you only need a few supplies:
    Curt 56209 Wiring Harness for Ram Promaster 2500 is the one we used. I can't find it anymore.
    The Curt website shows that the Curt 56478 is also compatible: amzn.to/4b2Kvzk
    Plastic Wire protector: amzn.to/4b9NTIx
    Electrical Tape: amzn.to/4beS5Hh

    Wow thanks so much for making this video. Helped us out a ton! I wanted to make a note, we ran the power wire under the van up to the battery because our walls were already finished. We followed the same path as the 4 pin to get to under the van, and then followed a similar path of another wire to the cab. No extra holes were needed but we did have to make a modification to an existing wire hole that came in right next to the driver side door. We did this with a box cutter and it worked out great. We had to remove a metal piece that had 4 bolts on it (then reinstalled it of course), to access the already existing hole. The access point to the cab looks like it runs up where the fuel line from where you put in fuel at a gas station to the tank. Trailer hitch was an afterthought, so I don't recommend this but if you are like us and are doing it after it did work and was long enough! Also, we had a ton of trouble with the passenger side connector to the brake light... thanks to this video we didn't give up and after thirty minutes of stressing out and trying a bunch of things, we just wiggled and gave it a ton of muscle... and eventually it gave. One of those we laugh at it now moments, but during the build it was extremely frustrating as it was the last step for us and we couldn't get it. Thanks again for this video and good luck to anyone installing themselves.

      Glad you got it dialed! Also good to know that you were able to run the power wire externally without much trouble.

    ....What if you've already added your walls? Still possible or no?

    • @DrifterJourney
      @DrifterJourney  Před 3 lety

      It would definitely be MUCH harder with finished walls. When we searched for install videos, there were a few that showed how to run the wires externally. But then you have to pop out the rear light to access the plugs
