No matter what you think about ghosts. Everyone can agree that the opening cinematic when the dad talks about the Ghost is badass.

I didn't like it when it came out, played it on PS3 first. I recently replayed it last year on PS4 and thought it was pretty decent. The Rourke character was kind of cringe and generic but it was an alright game. I was definitely too harsh on it the first time I played it.

IW is an underrated cod game. If it wasn’t labeled a “cod”, it could’ve been a big hit. It’s campaign was really good too, it’s just that it didn’t fit the cod narrative like I said. I even thought MP was kinda fun tbh.
Fun fact: due to an actual treaty or international agreement, nuclear weapons and or laser based weapons are banned to be sent up to space to be fired towards the Earth. So the ODIN station is designed to fire a specialized kinetic rod towards Earth that with the assistance from the pull of Earth's gravity and the force used to launch it, it can hit it's target with more accuracy and deadly force than any nuclear weapons systems can achieve while not breaking the treaty.

I consider the Honey Badger to be an SMG because of its range effectiveness. It is quite bad at a range, like trying to shoot the guys on the bridge. but yeah, it hurt me hearing that too, since he was using It for long-ranged combat.
Ghosts wasn't well received among the fans maybe because of the astounding success of MW trilogy & BO 1 & 2 but when you compare Ghosts to the later Sci-Fi BS it really stands out.

The odin is an actual weapon that some scientist actually thought of, its basically a satellite that drops metal rods from space and the kinetic energy is so strong its basically a missile. Also its legal since it follows all ryles of engagements since its not considered a weapon of "mass destruction" such as nukes, gas, poison, etc
Also the real name of the weapon is the project "THOR", I guess they wanted to take that same idea into action but gave it another name with the same references

the Modern Warfare games are their own timeline with the 2019 reboot being a soft reboot in the same world but without most of the mess that we saw in the trilogy, the Black Ops games are their own thing, and Ghosts is its own thing, generally speaking unless the name of the game is the same, its a different universe than the last one
World at War is part of the Black Ops universe. It's where Reznov was first introduced. He was one of the Russian soldiers in WW2, and there's a flashback mission in BO1 where you go back to WW2 as Reznov. So WaW is the one exception to that.
I like how modern warfare 2019 takes place right before the events of the other modern warfares to the exception of flash back missions and such

If you loved the opening space level in Ghosts, you'll love Infinite Warfare. Not modern of course, but IW has just an amazing campaign. Space combat is a ton of fun, and the dog fights in space are amazing. Characters are amazing as well, and they're really fleshed out. A lot of people didn't like Ghosts and IW, mainly because of their multiplayer, but Jesus, does Infinity Ward know how to make amazing campaigns.
Only wish you could play it on Specialist difficulty from the get go. Once you complete the campaign once, you get Specialist difficult which completely shakes up the way you play making you manage armor and health. Getting shot in the arm will reduce your ability to control recoil until you heal. Getting shot in the leg will slow your movement. If your weapon gets shot, you drop it in the ground although you can do a quick time event to quickly grab it.
And no, they're not all set in the same universe. WaW and Black Ops 1 through 4 are all set in the Black Ops universe, and MW 1 through 3 are in the Modern Warfare universe with MW 2019 being a reboot to it. Ghosts, IW, and AW are each in their own universe.
I think a Ghosts 2 would be an excellent title for an open world CoD, but I don't want to spoil anything from the story on why I think it would. Infinite Warfare is somewhat open world, or more like open solar system. Game lets you choose your own missions, but it's not like Wildlands or anything where you're free to explore. Still really cool that it lets you complete missions in the order that you choose.
Ghosts is probably had the biggest mix bag of criticism. People either loved it or hated it. Ghosts had such a hype train leading up to launch following MW3 and BO2 which shot the CoD franchise into the roof. Each year, CoD kept getting more popular, and that peaked with those two games. Ghosts sold stupid well because of all that, but then multiplayer decisions cut the hype short with large open maps and a quick time to kill. Base maps just weren't good minus a few exceptions. Campaign received a lot of praise although this was when people started to not care about the campaigns, everyone just wanted multiplayer, so Ghosts' campaign went largely overlooked. Extinction was well received although lacked replayability early on. The more linear style of progression mostly filled with defend missions was fun the first time through although quickly got boring. Story was the main thing that kept people interested. Multiplayer was abandoned and BO2 quickly jumped into the most played CoD a few months after launch. DLC fixed most of the issues people had with MP though. Maps were smaller and linear while having lots of unique quirks and custom killstreaks thanks to the Field Orders which gave one player a challenge to complete within a match, but when you're killed, you dropped it, and someone could pick up the challenge and complete it. Completing it gave you a care package with a random reward. Mostly it was just the base killstreaks with a few custom ones that could wreck havoc or alter the map like being able to play as Michael Myers or the Predator or being able to call in an AC-130 on the remade Favela from MW2 or calling in on ODIN strike and completely change the layout of the map. Extinction's DLC really helped emphasize the story, although the maps still suffered from linearity. Each map though had unique quirks like multiplayer's DLCs. The boss fights also added a real challenge at the end and made them more replayable. Ghosts had what is considered to be one of the best DLC seasons for a CoD.
Overall, the campaign is considered one of the best, but the multiplayer was an experiment that failed. CoD was moving more towards strict three lane maps with a longer time to kill making rushing and recoil control dominate over positioning and reaction speed, and then Ghosts pushed for a more a slower pace resulting in camping being an issue leading to lots of matches that reach time limit resulting in lots of boring matches. Maps were designed more for Ground War (which was 9v9 at the time while core MP was 6v6), but last gen couldn't support it, and CoD launched as a last gen title so many gave up on it before next gen came out. Speaking of last gen, it definitely held Ghosts back. Already lacked GW, and the game was designed for last gen altogether leading to bland graphics (although the style is gorgeous). It's been getting more praise as of late due to people burnt out on the fast paced nature that CoD became known for from AW to BO4. MW 2019 tried to do again what Ghosts did with MP, but this time with a lot more success, although it's still a hot topic.
to explain Odin, it is a "Kinetic Bombardment System" or smthn like that it basically fires dense rods of a material at the earth from orbit at high speeds it does a lot of damage and can cover a lot of ground, it also does not pollute the atmosphere in a way nukes do, so by destroying Odin they did not do anything in terms of nukes.
Edit: Also, a fun fact about said system it has been researched in real life, ideas of making one and I think one might have been planned. It is an interesting topic, cos this Odin system in Ghosts has some potential that it sparked some research once upon a time.
When you finish the campaign missions you should check out the extinction mode on Cod ghost it's amazing it's in main menu of the game.
King Frost black ops zombies is better but extinction really does bring a twist to the gameplay and it’s quite unique

this game had an interesting premise and i honestly think the story was alright. sadly, it'll never get a sequel and i believe the large reason for that is the fact that the multiplayer was EXTREMELY unsatisfying for pretty much everyone.

Ghost is a lot like infinite warfare. I loved the campaigns, lost interest in multiplayer quickly and liked the zombies/extinction modes.

What i liked about ghosts multiplayer is that you could actually change your soldier and choose what gear they wear i was hoping modern warfare had that but nope its just clones running around saying the same things

I really want him to play Infinite Warfare its one of my favorite COD campaigns and openworld-ish I think he would actually really like it.
It's not open-world, but it does have a more open structure where you can choose missions and there are side-missions to play.

This is my favorite call of duty!! I'm biased though, because it was the first game I owned personally. I loved gaming when I was young but didn't have my own stuff till later. I loved this one! I know a lot of people hated it but for a little while it was all I had to play. I had over 100 days played on multiplayer and played through the campaign several times! So glad your enjoying it!!

Yeah, the higher difficulties DO NOT screw around in Ghosts. You don't take cover and have good reaction time, Veteran and even Hardened will tear you up, and fast.

Edit: EXCEPT those two the rest were boring as heck but Riley was cool and you did kinda just hate the villain since he was annoying as all hell.

Ghost to me had the most diverse campaign. Other games you could fly in helicopters. Here you get a tank for a whole mission. Your in space and under water.
Fun fact: The ODIN satellite array is based off of the real life project Thor. While it isn't built (yet), the US military has looked into the project as recently at 2017. It pushes 20ft tungsten rods and uses kinetic energy to deal immense damage. The scary thing is, it's perfectly legal for any country to develop and deploy. Only issue is cost
Theyre actually not nukes! And the REAL (yes this is a real thing) is called Thor, so you can see where they got the inspiration lol. Its illegal to strap nukes to a satellite (also any weapon that "fires") so to bypass this law, the US military basically, in super simple terms, took a dozen tungsten rods, roughly the size of a lightpole, and literally pushes them towards the target at terminal velocity and kind "replicates" the effect of a small nuclear bomb. And they would theoreticly do exactly what's shown in game, that is ripping apart the earth as easily as you would rip apart a sandcastle. Fun!

This will always be one of my favorite cod games. It was the first cod game my older brother bought and then my mom immediately took it away because she thought it was rated T instead of M.😂😂😂
Most people that played or watched this game thought it was a waste of production but to me, to me ghosts was one of and still is one of my favourite call of duty’s of all time, I can’t wait to watch you play the rest of the game but first I have to watch this episode.
