This is hilarious. They keep making the sign in options more and more difficult for ordinary users (they should just allow the user to reset their password in a domestic context i.e. Windows home edition), but you can also easily bypass it by renaming a system file through their own dialogues. Nice workaround, thanks for uploading.
Up until now I can't find the utilman
You forgot to mention that you need to undo the steps again back to original state after the fix. You must delete the file you've created for CMD and rename the utilman again to its original name.
If you don't do this you cannot access to command prompt window ever again and anyone seeing your video won't know that until it's to late

This does not appear to work on W10. When I click on the "System Image Recovery" button, instead of the WE window shown in the video, I get a "Reset User" and then enter the password for this user. Since I don't know the password, I can't get past this?????????????????????????

Not working, under System Image Recovery page, it shows to choose an account to continue also it has "Forgot your password or don't see your account?" at the bottom of the page. when click User 1, it leads me back to enter the password for this account. when click Forgot password, it gives me an option to restart which leads back to sign on screen again.

My old HP laptop may be running Windows 9. Your procedure, in this video work up to the point where I select System Image. Then it wants my Password! I cannot follow the rest of your good instructions. They offer a System Restore box, but it also redirects to a sign in box.

They fixed it.. now they reboot the computer and ask for the password.. but they give more entry attempt.. i found it back... With my huge amount of password....... Believe me i setup the correct 3 questions right now...
I could not find the "utilman" file as you have shewn in your video. I suppose it is because the "Files of type" parameter under the File name it set to find only that kind of file. And I do not know to change that in order to find the files I need to apply your instructions.

type "*.*" in the file name field ... that will show all the files regardless of the file type setting
This was working for me perfectly. To go to the recovery mode I had to use Windowd 10 bootable DVD. From bootable DVD I loaded Windown & then followed the steps in this video. Finally did as this video shows..

Hi, I really like your easy to follow video. Thx. By any chance, do you know if it's possible to recover data from an external hard disk to was switched to ESD-USB? I was creating a media file to install Windows 10 and I thought I can save the file on my 1T external hard drive. Once done, I found out that it did reformat the external drive and I lost all of my important data! Any help would be greatly appreciate it. Thx.

On Windows 11, after you go through the whole process and you get back to the password screen with the accessibility button on it, when you click on the accessibility button it does absolutely nothing

I can logged in to my computer ,unfortunately, when i give my google account password or log in password nothing works. So, i couldn't go to the next step of any solution of automatic repair. I tried with the safe mode with command prompt and it says windows have some corrupted files that couldn't be fixed.

For an easier way if your laptop is able to sign in with finger print or pin or face Rc first sign in and go cmd and then type /control userpassword2 and then reset it
