  • Of Mice & Men's song "Real" comes from their album 'Cold World'. Buy/stream at ofmiceandmen.lnk.to/ColdWorld
Face down, I fall to the floor.
Can't say I've never been here before.
    So frustrating, debilitating,
This emptiness there must be more.
    It's taking over me,
I don't know what to believe,
    Forgetting everything
That makes me, makes me real.
    I find an enemy,
In every word that you say,
    I won't let you replace,
What makes me, makes me real.
    Start, stop, start over again,
Even though you know that this will end.
    So frustrating, aggravating,
I lost myself when I let you in.
But I will find myself again,
So don't you say, that you understand.
    It's taking over me,
I don't know what to believe,
    Forgetting everything
That makes me, makes me real.
    I find an enemy,
In every word that you say,
    I won't let you replace,
What makes me, makes me real.
You won't take the best of me.
    Start, stop, start over again,
Even though you know that everything ends
    It's taking over me,
I don't know what to believe,
    Forgetting everything
That makes me, makes me real.
    I find an enemy,
In every word that you say,
    I won't let you replace,
What makes me, makes me real.

I know what Of Mice & Men usually sound like, but this sounds really good. Vocally, it's very clean sounding with catchy tones and strong lyrics. Musically, it's a work of art. I LOVE that part when everyone stops playing except the lead guitarist when he says "Start, *stop* , start over again". And the heavy part of the song sounds like it was so much fun to create. Don't get me started on the transitions from each measure. It's all so damn good.
I'm not even a huge fan of this band, but I really enjoy great musicianship. And it's mixed very well too. A bit bass heavy, but I like it because I'm a bassist myself lol.

Listen up haters, I understand where you're coming from. Here's the thing.
Of mice and men got popular and well known from being a Metalcore band.
This song is a good song.
This song is far from what original Of Mice And Men sounds like.
    The song doesn't suck.
    The band doesn't suck.
The mix of the two is just weird and doesn't sound right. Would I prefer they go back to their roots and out out an album that is basically the flood pt. 2? Heck yeah. But that doesn't look to be the case. Enjoy the fact they're still putting out music of some sort, or if anything go listen to one of the hundreds of new Metalcore bands that have come out this year alone.

Its funny how people yell about om&m new music being radio freindly and how if shaylee were still there they would still sound metalcore. Ummmm fuck no they wouldn't. Listen to dayshell (shaylees new bands) new single , carsick, its as radio freindly as om&m new stuff if not more

    • @lordhedon4217
      @lordhedon4217 Před 7 lety +1

I enjoy Dayshell more, but you're exactly right that he clearly wouldn't have kept them going in a Metalcore direction. It's like Dayshell went in a Deftones-ish direction and now oM&M is going Linkin Park. This song has more of a radio single feel to it than Carsick, imo. This might have a little more up-front aggression, but it sounds like the sort of hard rock/metal that ends up on the stations that cater to that genre but are still really mainstream.

Exactly how I feel. Although I like Pain, so maybe I'll like the new album, not sure. But for me, the first two albums were the best. Sometimes bands evolve in directions that clash with your own music taste, and that's OK. Sadly some people blame the band for it and act like it means they've sold out or suck, when in reality, it's nothing like that.

I think the lyrical content on the first two is definitely better than the ones right now. However, I think the sound they have right now with the two singles “Unbreakable” and “Back to me” is great! You may or may not disagree, I don’t know. Just my two cents!
