Only a pseudo music lovers will say its copied, may be first 5 seconds and then the music moves to a different zone, often better than the first 5 seconds, and anyways rd made these anonymous music immortal, and becoz its immortal some ppl spend time to findfaultn.
Anyways ppl who think rd is copying hv not heard his compositions in kati patang, amar prem, aandhi, rocky, love story, 1942 love story, jawani diwani, hkhr, sunny, ratnadeep, sholay, basera , shaan, kinara, and the list goes on.
Rather than criticizing the maestro use that time to enjoy his creation.
Also if u hv any idea how bollywood works, you'd know producers put pressure on music composers to "copy" popular western tune.
Btw, western ad companies are now copying RD music, the latest in the burning train track music.

Half a copied melodic line is actually enough to create a complete song. Coming up with that first idea is true creativity. Everything our music directors (except Rehman)is 'plagiarism'. আপনারা ভালোই কাজ করেছেন খেটেখুটে। একটু আধটু গান শোনেন যাঁরা, তাঁরা অনেকেই এ বিষয়ে অবহিত। তবে কয়েকটা কথা একটু খেয়াল করবেন: যাকে আপনারা অরিজিনাল ভার্সন বলছেন, সেই গানগুলোর অনেকগুলোই আবার traditional folk ভাঙা। তাঁরা তাঁদের record এর label এ সেগুলো উল্লেখ করেছেন নাকি? রাহুল কিছু গানকে হুবহু কপি করেছেন হয়তো , কিন্তু বেশির ভাগ গানকে উনি transcreate করেছেন বলা ভালো। ওঁর আগের এবং পরের বহু সুরকার এই কাজটি করেছেন। আরেকটু খোঁজ নিলে দেখতে পাবেন so called masterpiece composition এর অনেকগুলো এমন ভাঙ্গা, অনুপ্রাণিত, এমনকি কপি ও।
তবে রাহুলের গানের কপি আর অনু মালিকের কপির মধ্যে অনেক তফাৎ আছে আর কী!
আপনাদের এই exercise এর ফল আপনাদের জন্য কী জানি না, হয়তো খানিক আত্মশ্লাঘা, কিন্তু শ্রোতার জন্য take away হলো নিজের দেশের বাইরে অন্যান্য দেশের গানের সঙ্গে খানিক পরিচিতি।
আপনারা যদি কপি কপি না বলে sensationalize করার চেষ্টা না করে আর একটু অন্য ভাবে এই transcreation বিষয়টিকে ভাবতেন, ভালো হতো।

Many might have missed those tunes but not me and a few others like me who had been finding our favourites in pre internet era. I feel only people like me deserved to hear those tunes because we put in the work to find them. We knew more international hits than an average Joe and then the copymasters struck. And they did such a bad job of it. The originales still have better sound quality so what did the copycats even accomplish? Copied music and movies make me angry and ashamed. I can't joke about this

@@jalunar Correct buddy. But The main melody of Tumi koto je dure is not inspired or copied from shine on you crazy diamond. There is no similarities in melody. Only the some part of prelude is inspired.I dont know the guy who is claiming have a musical ear or not. The main melody is original. And Rd burman composed 3000 songs approx( which are released) . Maximum 50-60 songs are inspired or copied ( I will not say he copied blatantly, because he took a line and then the half portion of mukhra and whole antara was his original). The remaining 2550 songs are very much original.

I appreciate that some of the songs are copied but not sure if I agree with all of them. I mean Leo Sayer (When I need you) with copy of Parinda (Tumse Milse) is just a coincidence of a melody 🎶 overlapping with slight resemblance which is purely coincidental!
Others are superbly done eg RD Burman copying Vangelis space instrumental of "Pulsar" is an amazing re-work by RD; 💯 Genius composition !

the way we talk,dance, walk, express through our body language and almost every human activity repeating itself since the dawn of human civilization...all cave drawings, paintings and all ancient human activities have evolved into whatever we do now.....we may call all of them inventions, discoveries , copies, inspirations....etc.....but all are re creation , evolution of human creations....even the songs which are original are also copied from parts of previous music or natural sounds , etc............if anyone falls in love with a song of another culture or country and makes it in other language for personal reasons or commercial reasons ...public have loved them..........let us respect the human creativity that is purely based on mathematics of evolution ......let us not disrespect our legends.......it is nice to know the source of the hit songs....but the word copy or stealing etc should not be used....RE CREATED from OLD SONGS would be appropriate ....lot of research is needed to find such old songs and create another song with new musical structure in other language .....let us take these lightly..........every country does copy other countries policies ,etc. countries copy culture of other countries...we indians sing so many western songs , imitate western culture and they too do this ...in russia jimmy is so famous, its all human brains and their activities .....it is evolution and science....let us respect our Human abilities to re create....GOD BLESS THE CHANNEL......loved the research U guys did....more such research needed but we need to respect our legends ...

In fact if you notice carefully... RD burman improved every original score by at least 50%. RDB's versions sounds more melodious with better poetry, meter, orchestration, musicality and of course the rythm section

I personally like old Hindi Music and grew up listening to Mohd Rafi and Kishore Da. Bollywood being influenced by global music is not a problem, but not giving credit is. Our public is so straightforward and trusting that they are not aware that our God like music directors, behind closed doors, love to copy tunes from around the world and pass it off as original.
Creating original music is not easy. It can take many months and a lot of trial and error to compose one. Even after that song may flop. Success ratio is less than 10%. But have we wondered how our music directors quickly churn out 80% or 90% hit songs from a single movie in just a few days? You guessed it - by copying! But thanks to CZcams, it cannot remain hidden for long 😀.
I think there is plenty of talent in India that can create great original music loved by people around the world. However this can happen only after we stop glorifying copied music.

ও! তা এখন যে অনেক সিনেমাতে গান একেবারে হুবহু copy করা হয় ।তাদের বিষয় তো কোনো vedio বানান না। এতই যখন সত্য প্রকাশ করার শখ তো এখন যে 1976 এর Jaanbaaz movie এর pyar do pyar lo গান টি বর্তমানে Marzavaan movie তে দেখানো হচ্ছে । 1994 এর Tridev movie এর Gali Gali me phir ta hai গান টি বর্তমানে KGF movie তে দেখানো আছে ।কই এখনকার Composer দের জন্য তো vedio বানান না। আগেকার Composer রা তাও Lyrics টাকে সম্মান দিয়েছে । এখনকার Composer তো তাও দেইনি।একটা কথা বলি,নিজেদেরকে বিরাট কিছু ভাববেন না।কারণ Bappi Lahiri, R.D. Burman মাস গেলে কিছু না হলেও এক লাখ টাকা রোজকার করত। আপনারা যখন এত জানেন এটাও তো জানেন যে Bappi Lahiri মাত্র 4 বছর বয়সে তবলা বাজাতে পারত। কই খুঁজে দেখুন তো এখনকার কোন Composer এর সেই গুণ আছে 4:50

Because he and Kishoreda are the pioneers of type of songs that spread all over North India's late-night "Bandar naach" shows for drunk audiences.
Before these two, Bolywood had at least some class. There were copied songs, but not these many.
Only recently, have we been slowly recovering from the "bar song" phase and going back to melodious songs. Sadly, there are very few good composers left. Even more sadly, those bar songs will remain perennial favourites of beggars because of how little talent is required to sing those.
