@@miklauzknaus Yeah I have a soft spot for goalkeepers that are considered "small". My favorite team (Borussia Dortmund) had a goalie in 1997 when they won the champions league that was called to small for his position, but was in my opinion just great - Stefan Klos (181 cm).
Fun fact he couldn't kick the ball that far too and I always thought that forced Dortmund to build their offence in their own half, what made it often more planed and safer...
One more example for this theory was the 2002 world cup in which Oliver Kahn played for Germany - a goalie by many seen as one of the best of all time and he was a beast on the goal-line and unmatched controling his box. But he didn't had a precise kick and even though he could shoot it far into the other teams half, it was pure luck if a German player was anywhere near the point the ball hits the green again. Everybody in Germany said it was because of him we reached the final (which was not untrue), but I always said, that we lost the final, because of him kicking the ball to the other team as often as to his fellow team members - Brazil was back in front of the German goal so fast, because the Germans lost the ball so damn fast. I really like to write about that, even though it is a point of view I share with very few people.

7 (Alisson) is actually 1 for Brazil, while 6 (Ederson) is 2 for Brazil - I think both are great and definitely have their own qualities
Ederson has been critisised a lot for shakiness w shot stopping ("first shot on target will be a goal") but I think he's definitely improved, and he was amazing in the champions league final. His distribution is definitely his best quality though, especially for man city as a 'sweeper keeper', though that comes with its risks and rewards for sure, but he's so calm and composed.
Anyway, I'm definitely biased but I find it strange that Ramsdale and De Gea were ahead of both of them considering they both fumbled under pressure, and this video definitely prioritised shot-stopping, like it's all well and good if you can save an outrageous shot but if in the next second you pass straight to the opponent and they score it doesn't really matter. (+ de gea's contract wasn't renewed and he hasn't been employed anywhere else since, and ramsdale's team, arsenal, signed another goalkeeper and they're trying to do the 'two alternating starting keepers' thing but it doesn't look like it's working lmao)
here's a 'best of' video for Ruben Dias (best cb itw in my opinion), I find the commentator really boring but honestly Dias is great, and you can find similar 'best of' videos for (almost?) all of 22/23 city players czcams.com/video/jq0Nfx4Zf0k/video.htmlsi=0gLY2aVkmodtyTbU

Oliver Kahn was such an animal that the opposing teams fans literally started throwing bananas on the field in order to insult him as an ape. TBF he went batshit crazy on the pitch on more than one occasion, from kung-fu jumping into oncoming attackers to literally grabbing his own defenders by the neck and shaking them to "wake them up" if he was displeased with their performance.
If you are a striker through on goal and look up you would see Kahn just sprinting right at you in order to go for an all in sliding tackle, so better watch out and get your legs out of the way or this will hurt badly.

I think espacially on the topic of goalkeeping it is more important to have control of the box and how you are alert every second and of course good reflexes do not hurt - but the highlight reel, na that is not important at all. And by saying that, yeah I think the list is close to be accurate - you can switch some positions, but it is okay. For me even as a German (Ter Stegen is from Germany) Courtois is the best keeper on that list.

The ball must be completely over the line for a goal to be scored - you are correct about that.
As far as penalties go, most goalkeepers will tell you that they don‘t feel much pressure. Everyone expects the ball to go in, so you can only win by saving the penalty. The pressure is on the player taking the shot; they can only lose.

you made a comment during your video about penalties, I'm a striker and a Penalty taker but I can tell you 1000% there is literally no pressure at all on the goalkeeper when it comes to a penalty.
it is an expectation when a penalty is given that there will be a goal soon after, so yes it is an amazing feeling for a goal keeper to save a penalty but no pressure on them.
there have been so many great keepers through the years that it is very difficult to narrow it down to just 10.

The strategy behind penalties is actually big, it's not just about guessing. Most teams analyse their opponents and they know which players usually execute the players, so they focus on them and come up with stats regarding to the side where the player sends the ball most of the times, so the keeper is usually informed beforehand about it. Also, in that very moment, the keeper looks at three things, the player's eyes, the player's feet and the way the player approaches the ball.

I can believe they forgot the very best goalkeeper of 2023 : Olivier Giroud.
To explain the joke : Olivier Giroud plays as a Striker - for Milan AC in club football and the French national team in internationals - and during a match against Genoa a month or so ago, Mike Maignan (#10 on this list and interestingly Giroud's teammate at both Milan and France) made a reckless intervention outside of his area, and was red carded and sent off for it.
As it was late in the game, the Milan coach had already made all of his substitutions, so they couldn't sub out a field player to sub in a replacement goalkeeper - which meant that an on-field player would have to take on the gloves for the few remaining minutes.
Giroud was selected - he is tall, and had actually played as goalkeeper in youth teams, so he had the basic training. And, he did a pretty decent job at it, including a diving save into the legs of the opposite forward. He wasn't scored on, and Milan won 1-0. As a celebration, Milan actually started producing Giroud-flocked goalkeeper kits to sell to the fans, and Giroud was named to the Best XI of that Week for the Serie A - as a goalkeeper.

Min 3:40 The Ball must be completely behind the line. Means, if you theoretically look from top to bottom, then the line must be completely visible. The ball must not “cover” the line by one mm. Only then is the ball considered to be completely behind the line and therefore in the goal. For several years now, digital goal line technology has been used in the top leagues across Europe. For several years now, video referees have also been used, who are in direct radio contact with the four referees. In addition, the main referee receives a visual and audible signal on his watch.

Terstegen is Germanies number 2 for the national team, currently playing in Spain. Number one is Manuel Neuer, just coming back from a long time injury, expected upcoming weekend playing again in Bundesliga for Bayern München. Id not see him in this footage, although beeing awarded worlds best goalkeeper, also i did not see Dino Zoff, one of the greatest and longest playing keepers from Italy. I think he was over 40, when retired. There are some other guys missing in this video, which only shows a compilation of some spectacular looking savings, but there is a lot more than that to be good goalie. There is a Tchech guy Petr Tech, very successful playing withe a helmet after skull basis fracture, and then there is the German guy in England Bert Trautmann, after beeing there as prisoner of war after wwII, made his way to the british national team, and continued playing , after breaking his neck in final and won that in the world cup final with a broken neck. Don't mind a broken nose, that would hardly beeing mentioned at all. And the i remember one south american Goalie saving a shot while doing a back flip somersault.

I’d say the order was pretty good, in any given season the order of the top 10 best keepers can be switched around since, I mean the top 10 are all good. I’d say tee stegen at the moment is probably the best goalkeeper with how his defence in comparison to other teams. -his defence is fairly young and not really considered the best defence. I’d say compared to man city where their defence is extremely good so ederson has actually been considered a bad shot stopped since the shots he does face might slip under his hands or legs.
So yeah I’d say, the list is retry accurate considered De Gea and Ter stegen’s circumstances last season in comparison to other teams who clearly were better in the defensive zone.

When you ever stand in a real Football goal in person, you realise how big a Goal is. 7,32m (24,01575 ft.) width x 2,44m (8,005249 ft.) high. And how close the penalty point is. Then ad the thought to it that the players shoot the ball as hard as they can (100-120 km/h) at you. You really must be a tough guy to be a goalkeeper.

A cross came in got pushed out to the corner and was crossed in again, and I had back up a couple of steps without thinking and i dive for the header to the corner and saved it but knocked myself out for a few seconds by hitting my head off the post. you only ever done it once. same with not looking behind you before you kick out after catching a cross. Something else that happen once to every keeper not looking back to see to make sure Everyone is out of the box and having the ball taken from you as soon as you put it down to pass out. this is the reason i never passed out like that from a catch always Kicked out of hand or Threw/rolled out from hands. 7 Marc-Andre ter Stegen, F.C. Barcelona.

All great keepers, but the order is highly debatable 😂 ofcourse , BUT, Not in a million years would i put Ter Stegen above Courtois. He's more likable for sure , but who isnt? 😂
Courtois is not a nice guy, but he is the better goalie. The "highlights" mean nothing. Stats and results do. You may be boring as hell, but keep a clean sheet match after match, while the other guy saves a penalty, or put on a show , but gets 3 past him during the game.
