      Happy its been helpful! We used a drill with a 7/64 drill bit or around that size to make the holes for the leather straps. I hope that helps!

      That's awesome! Our sign in the video is 24" x 36". Something we didn't mention in the video but want to share here is we recommend wearing gloves when sanding the edges and inside of the copper pipes/ fittings (03:40 for reference ). Protect your fingers at all costs unlike me lol. Thank you so much Yisel and have fun with your copper stand set up!

    • @weddingplanningschool
      @weddingplanningschool  Před 2 lety

      Glad you enjoyed the video! So we used a 24" x 36" acrylic sign. Super light. When you say "thick" I assume you mean a little heavier? If that's the case, it is a strong structure, but you may need to have some kind of weights at the base for extra support (windy days, drunk guests, etc) Hope that helps!

    • @morgancolfax8512
      @morgancolfax8512 Před 2 lety

      @@weddingplanningschool By thickness I mean - how thick is the board itself? When searching I see that there are different thicknesses of acrylic you can buy - the most common I see is 1/4", but was wondering if you could go lighter. I couldn't tell what this sign might be.

    • @weddingplanningschool
      @weddingplanningschool  Před 2 lety +1

      @@morgancolfax8512 Totally. So ours in the video is 1/4 thick. I don't see why you couldn't go lighter? You might have given us an idea to test out different board thicknesses and how they hold up in outdoor environments ;)

    YOU WILL ACTUALLY NEED 3 TEN FOOT COPPER PIPES if you want to make a sign that’s 5 feet tall and 3 feet wide. The directions tell you to cut 28” pieces which makes a 5 foot by 2.4 “ pipe! I had to go back to Home Depot and buy a 3rd pipe because I actually do need 3 feet wide because my sign is 30” wide. All in all sign looks great. Cost me about $120 to make (I didn’t have the pipe cutters which was about $25).

    Do you think this DIY would work for a 5ft x 5ft wide stand? And what was the approx. total cost of everything?

    • @weddingplanningschool
      @weddingplanningschool  Před 2 lety +1

      If I understand your question correctly, you're looking to make a 5ft x 5ft copper stand? If so, you totally can! You'll need another copper pipe and the proper measurements you want. The total cost for everything was close to $150 range. The copper pipes were more expensive because of supply and demand at the time I bought them. If you have some of the other house hold items, you'll for sure save there. Hope that was helpful!

    • @melissacabrera9875
      @melissacabrera9875 Před 2 lety +1

      Yes! I have a bride wanting to hold three signs layered together across a 5ft wide stand and I can’t seem to find one off Etsy.. So DIY it is and will be using your video! So clear and to the point, thank you!

    • @weddingplanningschool
      @weddingplanningschool  Před 2 lety +1

      We did make the sign, but no video on how we did yet! The material we used was a 24" x 36" acrylic sign that we bought from Amazon. The letters were made with our Cricut Maker and the material of the letters were removable vinyl. We hope that helps!

    Silly question, but what size is the actual welcome sign to hang in there? :)

    • @weddingplanningschool
      @weddingplanningschool  Před 2 lety +3

      Not at all! So the actual size of the Copper Stand is 5ft H x 2.4ft W (not 3ft as stated in the video.) The answer to your question is the acrylic welcome sign in the video is 24" x 36". We have the supplies from the video linked in the description too!

    how do you keep the stand pretty? lol Ours keeps tarnishing and looks horrible. any tips?

    • @weddingplanningschool
      @weddingplanningschool  Před rokem

      Copper is a pain to keep clean and shinny lol so Nick recommends if you really want to give them a good shine, he found by putting ketchup in a paper towel and rubbing it on the copper pipes. Then take a wet paper towel and wipe it off. After that he said try using steel wool too after you've cleaned off the ketchup. I hope that helps. We'll aim to make a video on how to do that!

    • @weddingplanningschool
