On my way back home from Brasov one night many years ago, I couldn’t find any cars to stop and had to walk from the train station along a dark, country road deep in the mountains. Because our house was so far from the town of Ditrau, I got very tired and worried about bears and wolves so I found one of those little huts the shepherds use. Unfortunately, I soon felt too cold to sleep and knew I had to keep moving to stay warm. It took another few hours to get home in the total darkness. It was another experience I’ll never forget.
God Bless Transylvania,,, I am a huge Dracula Fan grew up as kid enjoying and watching all the Movies. I used to live next door to a Romanian Couple and Family I was able to enjoy some of the cultural food preparation and a way of life. Truly Delightful people and Delicious Food and yes they did it with Love. Thank you for sharing.
This is the kind of place I wish I had found a long, long time ago; I'm older now & can't do as much. I have long wanted to live in a place that is slow & isn't interested in changing that, but rather stay "old fashioned". The town where I live now started out that way, but the young people have brought in a lot of things that changed the pace of our town, turning it into more than I've ever wanted or cared about. I love the old fashioned ways of life. When my late husband was still alive, we bought a little farm here & did exactly what Transylvania is doing...we made everything from scratch & raised our own food & animals & loved it all so much. He passed away almost 26 years ago now & I long moved away from that little farm; after living in a few places, I came back here & live in the next town over from that little farm. But, it's all changing now & the "fast pace" is catching up too quickly...it's just not for me anymore, but I won't move again, so I suppose I'll just keep my ways & manage the way I always have. Just sad to see so much change, when the old ways were always the best.🙏💖
Thanks for good wishes and words about this country and people of Romania ! Is a beautiful country and nice people special on the countryside. Go there 👍is a safety place !

What a beautiful and inspiring story! I started watching videos about rural Transylvania just as a kind of visual tranquilizer that seemed to calm me down when nothing else would. But there was always the knowledge that this kind of life was fast disappearing and would soon be gone. Now you give me hope.
Thank you for sharing this great post and for choosing as background music the most iconic one for Transylvania, the music of the nationally famous taragot player Dumitru Farcas.
volks kommissar, I do not wish to be critical, but as saxon of transylvania would you like to tell us what happened to the many thousand of Saxons who were literally forced to leave transylvania in the sixties and who took their houses and towns. Who in fact replaced these hard working people who lived there for many hundreds of years? I am aware that the present President is of Saxon origin.
@@hunguy3280 and who should be blamed for this, of course the communists, they did the same thing to hungarians, szekelys and even to romanians. I fell bad for the population that once lived in Transylvania.
@@hunguy3280 of course i don't know what happened to the saxons living in transylvania. The only thing i can do is to relate on the common theories. But i will still blame the comunists for this. I live in a city named constanta that is an old greek colony. After the communists gained power, all of the romanian aristocrats, famous and rich bussiness men, and those who did not want to give their belongings (plowing land) were either killed or exiled. The houses were filled with gypsies. Today if you vist the old center of the city that has buildings that are older than 200 years, you will see only gypsies. The germans and hungarians were not the only victims during the comunist reign in romania. Troughout the time saxons moved to germany for a better life, especially after the 90's. Today there are between 30k and 100k saxons living in transylvania. Hungarians did the same thing to their jews as romanians, but what you did not know is that romanian is one of the most spoken languages in Israel, besides Jewish. I'm not going to start a debate over the romanian ancestry, but i have to admit that hungary influenced a lot transylvania. The saxons not that much, they came here in the 12th century. But since u asked me about the saxons living in transylvania, i can also ask you what happened to the romanians that at least used to inhabit: Western Banat, the Serbian Timoc, sourhern Dobruja, southern Basserabia, northern Bukovina, eastern Transnistria, Pokutia, western Crisana, northern Maramures and also the ethnic vlachs living in the balkans, istro-romanians in croatia, magelano-romanians living in north macedonia, albania and bulgaria and of course, the a-romanians, that are spread troughout the entire greece. They were all once living peaceful lifes, but these "great powers" basically ruined everything.
@@dumitruandrei4758 should we talk about genocide and slavery during their reign in Transilvania? well its 2019 and we do not ask stupid question like where the saxons go? probably in Germany where they belong thats simple fact i see only hungarians asking stupid question and spreading propaganda onto Quote everyday but its 2019 this is Romania and Transilvania is part of it come and enjoy it simple as that.
@@msv7116 one more thing that hun guy didn't know is that hitler recruted over a houndred of thousand of saxons from Transylvania into the SS. And yet, romanians "killed the saxons".
Transylvania is sensational. Stunningly beautiful scenery, back-in-time towns and villages, great cities, good (but slow) trains and happy, smiling people with a warm welcome and genuine hospitality. Romania is not a poor country, but the low-level economy makes the cost of living ridiculously cheap for visitors - an unbeatable combination for tourism. The ruggedly magnificent Carpathian mountains are not too distant to the north, and the Black Sea beaches lie to the east, with the capital city in between. The agricultural landscape in this promo video is understandably quite flat, as with most arable land, but breathtaking deep valleys, lakes and forests are in easy reach of this area. In case it's not yet obvious, I LOVE Romania!
Obviously, Romania has such a low economic level because it was forced by the Western Europeans to destroy its own industrial and agriculture facilities, so that Romanians should buy everything from them. That was the price of being admitted in the EU. Now we, Romanians, pay thousand times that price, it is worse and worse for us because there are no more jobs, and it is better and better for the Western capital, which is always increasing by selling to us products with beautiful labels and very low quality level inside the packages. Fair enough, huh?!?!?!
Gheorghe Moraru Thanks for sharing this perspective. My question to you is: How did the Romanian politicians manage to sellout the farmers in a predominantly Agricultural state like Romania without a Serious National Revolt???
@@aterfront It's their special talent. Mostly by making false promises. Romanians are very peaceful and forgiving people so it takes a lot more than that to anger the populace to the point of an actual revolt. Basically, no matter how hard life gets, they always find ingenious ways to survive and push through. It's a sad reality in a way.
It's so inspiring. I hope the people in that community keep up the good work. I myself is an advocate of sustainable living and the protection of the environment.
Watching this brings back the memories I had there . The people there are such strong workers . I so wish the younger generation would carry on a beautiful culture . Koszonom Szepen ❤️

I also have wild Elderberry and now want to try to make an Elderberry liquor. I’d love to visit Romania to see this beautiful place and meet those people.
3:45 ish..I love all the plants she has around her home. I love seeing the different plants, flowers & trees from different countries & / states. Thanks for sharing this with us it was very interesting. Beautiful place.
Transylvania is one of the most beautiful places on earth. What worries me is that as more 'western' European entrepreneurs move into the area, Transylvania will be ruined. I mean, burning wood for heat? How about solar and wind power. I have also heard that companies from the west are beginning to deforest areas of Transylvania. This whole region should be considered off limits by the world.
Burning biomass is more sustainable than wind or solar power. The latter require industrial production ways, metal, lots of space and most of all, constant replacement.
Please,i m begging you ,western Europeans ! Help us preserve the last primeval forests in Europe. The Austrian company Scweighofer holzindustrie is cutting down our forests with the compicity of Romanian authorities and greedy Romanian politicians. Including IKEA used illegal logging from romania to manufacture their furniture. In the last period they changed the tactics .they are transforming the logs illegally cut in Romania into saw dust which is legal to export .The wood criminal organizations from our country killed 12 rangersin the last four years because they didn't let them to cut down our forests .Please, help us with guns and volunteers that can help us to destroy the criminal logging organizations and their accomplices from politics .we need armed volunteers ,Is the only solution to get ridd of them .Otherwise they will destroy the last functioning lung from Europe .The time to prey and hope for the best is over .is no use to beg the air criminals to change their evil ways .we must force them to do so .This must be applied in the Amazon and in Congo and in Central America and in Siberia also .Please do something. WE ARE ON THE BRINK OF EXTINCTON .WAKE UP

These people are contented. That makes a "big"" difference. They love each other and themselves.Respect means everything.🤗
That is a "tough" woman...🤔
What a lovely world ! Would love to live like that.

3:45 ish..I love all the plants she has around her home. I love seeing the different plants, flowers & trees from different countries & / states.
Thanks for sharing this with us it was very interesting. Beautiful place.
Transylvania is one of the most beautiful places on earth. What worries
me is that as more 'western' European entrepreneurs move into the
area, Transylvania will be ruined. I mean, burning wood for heat?
How about solar and wind power. I have also heard that companies
from the west are beginning to deforest areas of Transylvania.
This whole region should be considered off limits by the world.
There has been a lot if deforestation already, certain parts of forests don't exist anymore sadly.
Burning biomass is more sustainable than wind or solar power. The latter require industrial production ways, metal, lots of space and most of all, constant replacement.
They better make a plan, before it's too late
IS ROMANIA
WE ARE ON THE BRINK OF EXTINCTON .WAKE UP
Lord God Blessed you all Romania
Fabulous! Piękny i ciekawy kraj! Pozdro z Polski
