  • In this video we take you to the visited ski resort in the world: La Plagne, France.
    Checkout The Ultimate Guide to La Plagne: bit.ly/3l00sgK
    Based on the volume of accommodation available and number of ski passes sold each winter season, La Plagne ski resort takes the trophy of the most popular ski resort in THE WORLD!! This French Alps ski resort boasts an average of over 2.5 million visitors annually.
    With the qantity of accommodation to choose from comes more options and more competition for stays with plenty of enticing ski deals and amazing-value ski packages. This makes La Plagne a great place for skiers on a budget or looking for the cheapest deals, while still experiencing a world class ski area.
    The ski area of 425km of groomed runs all interlinked by slopes or lifts, including the world’s largest cable car system, the Vanoise Express, makes the Paradiski the 4th largest linked ski area in the world.
    It is home to the only bobsleigh/luge/skeleton track in France (only 10 countries in the world currently have them).
    La Plagne has so many different styles of villages (11 villages in total including 7 at high altitude) and accommodation from big buildings that look like cruise ships stuck on a mountain to traditional savoyard hotels and chalets. There really is something to suit all tastes in La Plagne.

    Top Snow Travel's Founder and a world-class ski enthusiast who understands the needs of a luxury ski holiday.
    His expertise comes from having skied at more than 70 SKI RESORTS around the world, including Canada, the USA, Australia, New Zealand, Switzerland, and more than 40 different ski resorts in FRANCE alone.
    Not only has he explored the French Alps while on holidays from his current home in Australia, he has also spent much of his childhood & adolescence on these remarkable mountains.
    From just 2 years old until he was 15, Gilles was fortunate enough to visit his family-owned home at a ski resort in the French Alps called Valfréjus. Every school holiday, his loved ones and himself would leave their home in Paris and enjoy the atmosphere and excitement of this stunning mountain region. It was here that he developed a sincere love for the sport of skiing, as well as a wealth of knowledge regarding the best places to stay and ski. These memories stayed with him long after he moved to Australia as a teen.
    After school, Gilles spent the first decade of his career working in the travel and tourism industry selling worldwide ski holidays to the Australian market. However, Gilles knew he had more to offer so he decided to venture out on his own.

    1:50 in 2016 *Be Warned by this - A British mother has died during a holiday in the French Alps after colliding with a tree while skiing. Anne Clayton, 54, was on a blue run, an area of piste usually graded as suitable for novices, in the popular resort of La Plagne when she lost control. !*

    • @topsnowtravel
      @topsnowtravel  Před 2 lety +2

      That's very sad news, unfortunately accidents can happen anytime on the slopes and off-piste. When on piste, best to always stay in full control of your speed to minimise the risks.

      @markymark2799 Před rokem

      Hi, There are many transfer companies and they all charge pretty much the same from the "Ski" airports to La Plange itself, around 400+ euros. It's only cheap if there are a group of you sharing the cost. There's a ski bus or train cheapest way is the Ski bus which you can book from home. Watch this vid czcams.com/video/mnY4JQK5LhU/video.html

    • @topsnowtravel
      @topsnowtravel  Před rokem

      Hi Elliot, we prefer private transfers for sure as it is the fastest and most efficient way to get to your accommodation. It is more expensive than shared transfers or buses but you don't have set times or get dropped off at the main bus stop in your resort and have to walk and carry your luggage to your accommodation. Try www.ski-lifts.com , it's a stop shop for all private transfers in the French Alps. Don't forget to contact us next time before booking your France ski holiday, we can give you some tips and tricks along with great service for your dream ski holiday 😁

      Hi, I’ve been goin to ski in the area since I was 1yrs old. My grandma lives there and we go there nearly every holiday. I’ve skied in la plague, les Arks, Champagny, and le glacier. I would personally not go to la plagne. Reason number one is that it is extremely commercialized. At la plagne there is no community no real vibe and in the summer it’s a ghost town. The buildings are extremely ugly and it takes ages to reach. The only reason I would decide to have an apartment in la plagne, would be for the fact that it is linked to many other ski resorts. Which leads me to where I think you should go for your vacation. Champagny en Vanoise. It’s a small village connected to la plagne. It has an elementary school, a church and much much more. PEOPLE ACTUALLY LIVE THERE. In the summer there is rock climbing, hiking, and mounting biking. It’s also connected to champagny le haut ( it’s sister village), which is one of the most beautiful places iv ever been to. Champagnys pistes are mediocre at best, but it is as I said connected to the greater plagne area. It’s close to chorchevelle ( the Russian billionaire paradise) so you get acces to its amazing facilities, but it is much cheaper. So basically go to champagny. Srry for spelling mistakes. Hope this helps you 😊

    I'm thinking of going to Chamonix or here for skiing. Which would you recommend? January 2022 hopefully!

    • @topsnowtravel
      @topsnowtravel  Před 3 lety +4

      @Th3W1s3Assass1n Thanks for watching. Both totally different ski resorts. La Plagne offers 1 single linked huge ski area (Paradiski 425km of slopes) with most accommodation ski-in ski-out and the far majority of slopes are blue runs so best suited for beginners and intermediate skiers as well as young families. Chamonix is an awesome mountaineering ski town with stunning peaks in your face (arguably the most impressive peaks in the French Alps) where you will have to drive or get the free shuttle bus to the slopes which are spread out on multiple ski resorts throughout the valley but it is worth it. The off-piste in Chamonix is far better than La Plagne and really great for advance and experts skiers. La Vallée Blanche in Chamonix from the Aiguille du Midi is a must do and is a once in a lifetime experience (do it with a guide). If you haven't already done so, checkout our video of Chamonix and La Vallée Blanche.

    • @topsnowtravel
      @topsnowtravel  Před 2 lety

      It has officially been approved by the French government that lifts will be operating this winter in France and so are the hotels.
      Here is the protocol for the French Ski resorts this winter 2021-22 (it's in French but you can just use google translate if you can't read French): www.domaines-skiables.fr/smedia/filer_private/22/55/2255ad55-e979-40f4-9eaf-dbf98dfed9fd/le-protocole-applicable-aux-stations-de-montagne-pour-la-saison-dhiver-202122-est-valide.pdf

    what would you say about skiing in early april? (we’re staying in belle plagne)

    • @topsnowtravel
      @topsnowtravel  Před 3 lety +2

      It’s really tough to foresee what will happen. Things change so rapidly, we’ll just have to roll with it. The assumption is now that it's unlikely lifts will open at all this winter. The lifts remain shut during the February school holidays until at least the 6th March but there is still a small chance for spring skiing , in your case in April. We will just have to wait for the next announcements from the French government in early March...
