A quick review of the Stihl FS-240r trimmer. Here is a link to an excellent face shield amzn.to/30KEB2j ~-~~-~~~-~~-~ Please watch: "Bark River Michigan Hunter Review" • Bark River Michigan Hu... ~-~~-~~~-~~-~
Dude you don’t need to push the purge bulb after every time it doesn’t start, that does nothing but purge the air trapped in the fuel lines and inside the carburetor, it does not push fuel into the venturi of the carburetor like a primer bulb on a lawnmower...
We run the Stihl fs240r all day long, 8-12hrs & as long as you take care of them & do the minor maintenance they'll run like a champ everytime you need it!!
When you start it pull it once with full choke then move the choke dial to the middle which is fast idle...if it's warm enough no choke go to the middle fast idle!!
Got one of these this past summer. I actually swapped out the bump head to the one off the fs56 and use the new .105 string they came out with. Aside for the thickest saplings. This thing is unbeatable. Even in 5’ tall brush
He is flooding his own machine shouldn't have to primer so much times and he starting it wrong ones the machine is in choke and it looks to start just squeeze the trigger and it will desingage on his own he keeps putting it on choke I fix machines so it's funny 😢
Would like to know how to fix the FS 240 piston, I mistakenly use bad gas and runen the inside, it start but won't keep up it shouts off, so I figure it's the piston get damage so please let me knw wat to do by showing me a vidieo please
Ouch, that really sucks. Unfortunately there is no fix for a scored piston, you'll have to replace it with an OEM or aftermarket piston. Better take the cylinder off before ordering a new piston as you may need to replace it too if it's fouled. Have you removed the muffler to see how bad the piston Is?
Just bought one not 5 minuets ago and got the blade attachment, going to have some fun now ! Convinced me from overspending on the 3 or 400 deff overkill for what I use it for
M T I love it! It’s such a beast compared to the 94r or the 130’s I have had. I don’t have a lot of time on it yet but I’ve run a few tanks through it since I posted this video. Puts a smile on my face when I let er rip!
@@gravytrainoutdoors yeah as soon as i had the dealer start it and felt the power compared to the 94, i knew i had to have it. Im a bigger guy so i dont really notice the weight difference, especially with a harness. Ive spent the last 12 hours at work day dreaming about going home and lettin her sing the sweet song
Rite knw I feel really mess up cause I just bought it an i accident put old gas in it an it start but won't keep up can someone please help me with my issue please
Bought mine 3 months ago the shaft stopped turning!!!! I hope Stihl isn’t letting me down😔 hopefully it’s just slipped off of something, to where it will be a easy fix. Hope she comes out the shop soon😩
That’s not good. Hopefully they get it sorted out soon for you. Mine has been very good so far. My buddy that is a mechanic for a marge golf course has dozen or more of them and they have been solid machines. He’s never had any issues with any of the 2 stroke Stihl trimmers only the 4-mix’s
@@gravytrainoutdoors they told me it was a fuel line problem. I get to get it today/Monday when they open I’m ready to go back to slinging tall thick grass.
@@DimplesDon9 I honestly can’t tell a difference in power. Aspen is much cleaner burning. I run 94 and Amsoil Sabre 2-stroke oil which is a very clean burning oil. During the season I’m using it lots I mix my own and at the end of the season where I might be using it the last time and put it away for the winter I try to run aspen so I have a tank full for storage. No issues with jetting between fuels. I’ve run other premix fuels and have not been impressed with them. Aspen is great.
I think it’s a bit excessive for that. If you are a bigger person and don’t mind the extra weight of the 240r than I would say go for it. My buddy who is a mechanic at a gold course and they have 1 240r and a bunch of 90r’s and only one guy will use the 240r so with that being said, 90% of people would prefer a lighter model than the 240r
@@gravytrainoutdoors thanks for the info. I just got a great deal on one and thinking about using for my residential route, I usually only do 8 yards max a day since it’s a side job. I don’t mind the weight, the only think I’m concerned with is the power. I use a little echo now and scared I’m going to go breaking stuff with this one lol
I think you will find that you will like the 240r a lot then. A lot of guys will take the guard off and run the line out on these as well. You do run the risk of burning the clutch out and stuff but they are still super tough
for every day use yes, i run the 250's which are bigger, and lots of times run into a bad ditch, or fenceline, or anything that has not been done in a long time. If you can have one to use in those spots they will make you some money. The only time really when its not the bomb is edging, its too heavy to hold in that position for long, but as far as just straight up weedeating, i can run it for half a tank o gas at a time, and it holds a bunch. I have never even tried a strap, as soon as get one i pull screen outta the exaust and take the gay guard off and it will kick ass. It also helps to be 6'4 and 250lbs as well lol. Most folks never bother to set it up right to start with though, for instance the handle, i will loosen the screws and get the handle where its cormfortable, usually 6 inches from stock and a little to the side, then tighten...Roost

Everyone in the comment secction is an expert, but only one brave men uploaded a video.
Yeah shore he did a very stupid video he doesn't even know how to start his own machine so it makes no sense for this video

legend has it he's still trying to start it
Thanks for the demonstration. I will be picking this up!
Lithium Man you won’t be disappointed!

Not sure pushing the primer bulb all the time is smart.
It takes a fair amount of times on these. Usually a minimum of 8x

If you're really lucky and the piston isn't that bad you may get away with replacing rings. Long shot though.
does this come with a nice harness also or do you have to purchase that seperately?
DirtForce 08 it comes with a simple sling style harness. The bicycle handles ones come with a double shoulder harness
Mine trembles when I release the accelerator, is that a problem ?
No

Just got my 240 today too. The 94r just wasnt yeehaw enough for me lol. Let me know how your 240r treats ya man

I hanged my 240 up like that and it leaked fuel out of the carb
Best grass cutter
By far

Hey man i know this review is out for a while. Quick question what fuel you run this machine? Premixed Can Fue ,which one?l or you mix it?
Typically I mix my own but I do run aspen pre mix time to time
@@gravytrainoutdoorsmixing by your own vs aspen pre mix which one is better based on your experience including starting and power loss?

Do you recommend this for everyday residential use?

If your cutting alot of taller grass use the 240, it'll save alot of time, use a thick cord though
That’s a mans weed eater
you are an apprentice learning that
To start this trimmer put it on the last position until it tries to start.. then put it in the middle position and it will start
Carlos Berrios Thank you!
Welcome to every piece of STIHL equipment
You should do a Fs111R vs Fs240R
I wish I had one to test it against. That would definitely make cool video.
Yes
That was painful watching him start that. Ended the vid before it ran
It was best
Hritik Kumar I really like this model too! Thanks for watching
Nice but I think 37 CC is overkill for lawn care
MoparFanSRT most definitely but it’s so much fun haha

I wanna pop your damn hand bro lmaoo Stop purging, and give the engine a chance before you flood it out.
That’s just the way these are. Gotta give it about 10 pumps. I’ve never flooded it.
I have a 110 I don't care for it. At all
Is is a 4-mix? I really like my 240r. It’s heavy but it makes up for that in power
either you are a horrible grass trimmer or you were doing it 1 handed
Dodge Shim haha you caught me red handed! I was holding the camera with my one hand!
You dont know how to start it or use it.
Both lol
That's what I said

Totally worthless video: really gave no valid info about anything except that he prefers a two-stroke engine!
