Hi all welcome back to another video Dereck Reacts back at it again! This time around we take a look at a first time reaction to Brian Ferry and his song "Slave to Love." This 1985 song has interesting experimental sounds, more notably the drums/percussions. Not a bad song all together but also not a very memorable one as well. See my first time reaction now!

Bryan Ferry is the King of Cool. His vocals, his style of dress....he was the epitome of GQ back in the day.
This song was HUGE it is Such a Vibe even after all these years! Simply Gorgoeus!
You need to react to "More than this" By Roxy Music. Lead singer is Bryan Ferry and was released in their last album "Avalon" then Bryan Ferry went solo.
Mr. Class of the 80’s, this song was a huge hit and it is an iconic song from that era, that style of music was also revolutionary.
There's nothing cheesy about "Slave to Love". 😀
Love Brian Ferry and Roxy Music... And one of the best songs from the 80s 😊
Please react to his "Don't stop the dance". It's just perfect
"Kiss & Tell" is my favourite. And "The Right Stuff". "Avalon" and "Jelous Guy" are good too.
It's a summer love song. If you were deep in love, looking at a beautiful sunset and listening to this then you will get it. It's not a dance pop song - it's romantic.
Not me buying this LP on my first ever school trip to Britain, in unrequited love with a kid in my class, as teenagers do 😂
This is such a beautiful 80s song. Your normally on point with this genre Derek. This felt like you were in a bad mood heading into the video.
A classic 80. 's slow dance. Thé sound is for Europe, same sound as Cock Robin. Both did not work in USA but famous in Europe. ❤
You are right it was Huge in France :)
This dude is a musical fool. How can you not like this? Crazy
This is a sensual song that was part of the soundtrack of many romantic movies during romantic scenes. It was a gigantic hit back then!
Boys and Girls is a GREAT album!
This amazing song was in the tape compilation that my uncle made me for my first Communion. My uncle is an expert on pop music.
I appreciate it when you don't like a song and say so - unlike other reviewers who are always fawning over anything, just to get more Patreon subscriptions... 🙄
This was a huge hit all over Europe. It's the opposite of experimental: Bryan Ferry had been around for ages as frontman of Roxy Music, who started as really weird and innovative glam rockers, then mellowed out during the years.
The album is super simple for Ferry's standards, but it made him a global star. Sellout? Probably. But I think the song is smooth as silk, and an absolute peak of mid-Eighties sound and production.
Love this song. Huge hit back in the day
I love samba, and this is rock soulfully samba like Santana did. It was a big hit at the time, with the best musicians and the best 80s director for the clip; what else?
Nobody's perfect, you're not, but this song, yes! 😋…I'm kidding, of course. All tastes are in the nature. If it weren't, life would be so linear… 😊
Agree, this song is perfect! And a big hit back then!
It's an iconic song for me and this era of Roxy Music / B. Ferry so I don't see anything off with it but maybe it's because I grew up listening to him and his music so I am too used to it to see what could not have aged well with it.
Ɓy itself, I would have reacted to this song much the same as you. But after doing a deep dive into Bryan Ferry's music with the incredibly innovative Roxy Music & following his creative path since, I just love this. He constantly experiments with the production of new music he writes. His music has a subtle seductive power - just delicious ❤🔥❤
Mondino, le meilleur
Written by Bryan Ferry. Keith Scott on the guitar 🎸 solo. He is in the band of Bryan Adams.
Roxy Music reunited in 2022 to celebrate 🍾 50 years 🎂. RM influenced Adam Ant, Culture Club and other New Wave musicians. RM and Chic heavily influenced Duran Duran.
RM certainly influenced Spandau Ballet and the rest of the New Romantic movement. Countless kids were conceived to this epic gem.
Great band. It’s been a favourite of mine for a long time
The beard had a run-in with a black box dye haha
Sometimes I read that some people seems upset or disappointed when you don’t like a song but, hey, no big deal : it doesn’t make me ❤ it less. So what’s the problem ? I like you being honest and true to your musical tastes. I love Bryan Ferry, a mix of class and killing instrumentations but it doesn’t bother me that you don’t like. 😊 Not everybody could like everything, this is just normal … 😅
Avalon is a brilliant song, so is jealous guy
I was expecting more from you actually. Although this song was released in 1985 you didn't approve it? What?
Temazo !!!
Bryan Ferry is an icon, this track was released about 3 years after his highly influential band Roxy Music disbanded.
the sound and style of This track was really an extension of Roxys final album Avalon ( which is a classic ).
He had a solo career thought his years with the band stretching back a decade before this. The song has endured for 4 decades now and has appeared in several soundtracks so I'm not sure where you are coming from it is a bona fide 80s classic but to each their own.
❤ this song
Check out Roxy music's back catalogue
From the RM swan song Avalon onto solo albums Boys and Girls and then Bete Noire you won't get a more sensual atmospheric miod/vibe 3 album stretch this side of Sade
SophistiPop was Big inthe 80's too - it was just Not All Synths.
I first heard this song in the film 9 1/2 weeks and enjoyed it. It actually goes with the movie and there is a clip Slave To Love (9 1/2 Weeks), shorter than this one. This is my 1st time seeing the original video. I've included a link but you need to scroll a few seconds. czcams.com/video/gkKKLFjSxbc/video.html
Being used to Roxy Music this just feels like a continuation, i prefer Don’t Stop The Dance for better sound and lyrics
pls nex reaction London Boys im gonna give my heart
Please react song Hazard by Richard Marx.
Bryan Ferry is great, but sometimes I feel like the videos actually detract from the experience. Try "Kiss And Tell" - up tempo, great bassline. Video features women that were involved in real life sex scandals.
English uk pop rock are the best
Je préfère cette version live :

Ferry's classical. 80's classical. May be not for your generation.
Playboy !
j'ai toujours trouvé cette chanson un peu tristounette. mespetitesolivesnoireskis
